Marco Polo Reyes made short work of octagon newcomer Matt Frevola at UFC St. Louis on Sunday.
Matt Frevola graduated from Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series to the UFC octagon at UFC St. Louis (UFC Fight Night 124) Sunday night. Opposite the debuting lightweight in the octagon was Marco Polo Reyes, winner of three straight under the UFC banner until he ran up against James Vick last time out.
In the end, it was a nasty welcome to the UFC for Frevola.
Matt Fevola got the ball rolling with a high kick, and the pair exchanged, with Frevola eating a shot, rocked. He went down, but Polo hesitated, missing a chance to finish. Frevola then earned some recovery time as the ref stopped the action to retrieve ‘Steamrolla’s’ fallen mouth guard. It wasn’t enough time to shake off the cobwebs, however. Frevola was clipped again in the next exchange, repeatedly. Short lefts followed by rights hit home. Frevola crashed to the canvas, spent. He went down in a bout that felt somewhere in the realm of video game violence. Quick, but brutal.
With the victory, Marco Polo Reyes got himself back in the win column, improving to 4-1 in the UFC.
