Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series winners Dan Ige and Julio Arce are on UFC 220.
Thanks to the previously reported injury suffered by Charles Rosa, Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series alums Dan Ige and Julio Arce will clash at UFC 220. The UFC made the announcement Wednesday. Ige had been set to face Rosa prior to the Massachusetts native sustaining a neck injury. Now, he’ll instead face fellow DWTNCS vet Julio Arce on the card later this month.
Ige (8-1) defeated Luis Gomez in August at DWTNCS 3 to earn his way to the UFC. ‘Dynamite,’ an Xtreme Couture featherweight, has won six straight dating back to April 2016. Along the way came stops in Legacy FC and Titan FC.
Stepping in for Charles Rosa, meanwhile, is Julio Arce, a Team Tiger Schulmann fighter from Queens, NY. Arce (13-2) has spent the bulk of his career in Ring of Combat. At DWTNCS 5, he defeated Peter Petties to punch his ticket to the big show.
UFC 220 takes place January 20 at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. A heavyweight championship fight between Stipe Miocic and challenger Francis Ngannou headlines the card. In the co-main event, light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier takes on surging contender Volkan Oezdemir for the 205lb title.
