Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez returns next month at UFC Charlotte!
The UFC has added a trio of bouts to UFC Carlotte (UFC on FOX 27) next month, and perhaps none is more tantalizing than a showdown between featherweights Dennis Bermudez and Andre Fili. Also added to the card are Godofredo Pepey vs. Mirsad Bektic and Niko Price vs. George Sullivan. The bout additions were revealed by The Charlotte Observer earlier today.
Bermudez vs. Fili has all the makings of a classic. Dennis Bermudez (16–7) has gone 2-4 in his last six, and is coming off two straight losses to ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung and Darren Elkins. Prior to his recent downswing, however, ‘The Menace’ had racked up a seven fight win streak in the 145lb division.
Fili (17–5), meanwhile, will enter the night off a win over Artem Lobov at UFC Gdansk in October. Fili has been trading wins and losses ever since a 2013 victory against Jeremy Larsen. That fight was Fili’s UFC debut.
Both fighters are capable of show-stopping bouts.
Also at featherweight, Pepey vs. Bektic will see both men trying to bounce back from losses. Mirsad Bektic (11-1) suffered the first loss of his professional career to Darren Elkins at UFC 209 back in March. Godofredo Pepey (13-5) dropped his last bout to Shane Burgos in July.
Finally, at welterweight, George Sullivan (17–5 (1)) returns from a year-long USADA suspension to face Niko Price. Sullivan last fought in January 2016, losing to Alexander Yakovlev at UFC on FOX 18. Price (10–1 (1)) is also coming off a loss, to Vicente Luque at UFC Fight Night 119 in October. With ring rust looming large, it will be interesting to see how Sullivan looks at UFC Charlotte after so much time on the shelf.
