Detroit’s UFC 218 has a fearsome heavyweight bout lined up. The UFC announced Wednesday that Francis Ngannou, previously linked to a bout with Junior Dos Santos, will meet Alistair Overeem at the event, scheduled for December. Ngannou had been in search of a fight since his UFC 215 match-up with JDS fell through when the former champion was flagged for a potential anti-doping violation by USADA.

Ngannou (10-1) has been untouchable in the UFC, going 5-0 since making his debut for the promotion in 2015. He has finished all five of those bouts, the last three within the first round. Ngannou has never gone the distance as a professional. The thirty-one year old Cameroonian has remained one of the fastest rising prospects in the heavyweight division since his early days with the UFC.

Alistair Overeem, meanwhile, has seemed to turn back the clock in recent years, after many questioned his viability in the sport following a string of three knockout losses in four fights back in 2013-2014. Since that point, Overeem (43–15 (1)) has gone 6-1 in the UFC, with the lone loss a failed title bid against Stipe Miocic at UFC 203.

UFC 218 takes place in Detroit, Michigan at the Little Caesars Arena on December 2. No main event has been announced for the card thus far.
