ONE Championship: Shanghai marked the promotion’s first visit to the Chinese city, beating the UFC to the punch in a key Asian market. The event was nothing short of a success, with five of six fights on the main card ending in a finish. In the main event, ONE Welterweight Champion Ben Askren was absolutely dominant against challenger Zebaztian Kadestam, who was unable to get off any offense at all in the fight. Perhaps the most surprising thing about the title bout between Askren and Kadestam, in fact, is that it lasted for more than a round. That’s especially true given the Swedish challenger’s complete inability to touch Askren.
Aside from “Funky” once again putting on a wrestling clinic, Amir Khan, Japan’s Tetsuya Yamada, and Singapore’s Sagetdao Petpayathai won big on the night.
