Pearl Gonzalez will return to action this October at UFC 216, according to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The strawweight fighter is set to meet Poliana Botelho at the event, according to the publication. Botelho will be making her UFC debut in the fight after pulling out of a bout late last year.
Gonzalez (6-2) made her promotional debut at UFC 210 in April, suffering a submission loss via rear-naked choke to Cynthia Calvillo. The fight almost didn’t happen, as shortly before the event, the New York Athletic Commission briefly nixxed the fight due to Gonzalez having breast implants. Upon further review, the fight was allowed to take place, but not before Gonzalez had to suffer through her private business being aired in public.
This time out, things will hopefully be much smoother for the fighter, who had been on a six fight win streak prior to her loss against Calvillo.
Botelho (5-1), meanwhile, has not fought since September of 2015. She enters UFC 216 on a three fight winning streak, with all three wins coming by way of KO/TKO.
UFC 216 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 7. No main event has yet been confirmed for the card, which has had a number of bouts announced to date.
