UFC Fight Night 114 (a.k.a. UFC Mexico City) started fast and furious out of the gate with a number of first round finishes. Though the night was heavy on action and had a number of deserving fights, the promotion opted not to award a Fight of the Night, and instead named four Performance of the Night awards. Each recipient is now $50,000 richer.

On the UFC Fight Pass Preliminary card, flyweight Joseph Morales’ submission of Roberto Sanchez, the inaugural LFA flyweight champ, put him in the bonus category. His rear-naked choke of Sanchez came just under the four minute mark of the first round. Lima, Peru’s Humberto Bandenay also found himself in bonus country by finishing Martin Bravo with a knee. Both Morales and Bandenay were making their promotional debuts at UFC Mexico City.

Dustin Ortiz’s KO of Hector Sandoval also saw him pick up a Performance of the Night bonus, and made him the second flyweight on the UFC Fight Night 114 card to win a bonus. Finally, Niko Price, who finished off Alan Jouban via TKO, picked up a Performance bonus as well.

In a bit of a surprising move, Jordan Rinaldi, who became one of the few fighters in the UFC to pull off a Von Flue choke, was left out of the bonus picture. That’s despite securing just the fourth Von Flue choke finish in UFC history. Also surprising was the lack of a Fight of the Night award, despite stellar bouts between Alexa Grasso and Randa Markos, not to mention headliners Sergio Pettus and Brandon Moreno.
