Despite the lack of consensus overall, just two writers chose long time UFC lightweight Jim Miller to defeat former champion Anthony Pettis. Pettis was making his return to the division he once ruled after an unsuccessful experiment at featherweight. As well, just a single staff member chose Poland’s Daniel Omielańczuk, a former KSW star, to stop prospect Curtis Blaydes.
In the co-main event of the evening, an interim middleweight title fight between Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker, we were leaning in the direction of Romero. Sorry, Bobby Knuckles. And in the main event, we were split right down the middle, with four writers seeing Amanda Nunes retaining her women’s bantamweight title, while another four expect challenger Valentina Shevchenko to claim the throne.
