Update (7:35PM EST): It appears earlier reports that Tim had passed were premature. According to a statement from Tim’s sister, he remains in critical condition. Sportsnet’s James Lynch, who reported the earlier news, also confirmed.
Need to apologize to Tim Hague and his family. Despite multiple friends and teammates saying he had passed, he is still alive

It has not been a good weekend for former UFC fighters. Following news yesterday that Matt Hughes was injured in a collision with a train, today we have learned that former UFC heavyweight Tim Hague has also been hospitalized. Sportsnet’s James Lynch reported the news on Twitter earlier today.
Prayers are w/ Canadian UFC vet Tim Hague who suffered serious brain injury last night in a boxing match w/ Adam Braidwood. Currently in ICU

Canadian Hague (21–13 MMA, 1-4 UFC) is a former King of the Cage Canada heavyweight champion, and went undefeated in three fights with the WSOF as well. In the UFC, he was best known for his submission win over fan favorite Pat Berry at UFC 98. However, following that win he would lose three straight, and be handed his walking papers by the promotion. He was brought back for a fight against Matt Mitrione at UFC Fight Night 23 in 2011, but was one and done in his second stint after being TKO’d in the first round.
Flash forward to the present day. Since losing his most recent MMA bout in July of last year at ACB 41 against Michał Andryszak, Hague had apparently been trying his hand at boxing. At KO 78 last night he faced the more experienced (in boxing) Adam Braidwood, a former player with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. The event was held at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, and aired on the Fight Network.
Braidwood scored the knockout at the event with a short left, following a number of knockdowns earlier in the fight. The ref immediately tended to Hague, who had been KO’d/TKO’d in four of his last five MMA bouts, and has eight knockout losses on his MMA record as a whole. Hague did not move for some time following the knockout.
As a boxer, he is now 1-3, with two of those losses also coming by TKO. His only win in the sport came in 2011; since restarting his boxing career in September he has lost all three of his bouts to date.
Fellow fighter and friend Cody Krahn also posted an update on Hague:

Hopefully, Hague can make a speedy recovery following what appears to be a very serious injury.
