The companies released a joint statement on Tuesday announcing the new venture.

According to the statement the yet-to-be-named streaming service will feature NFL, March Madness, NHL, NBA and MLB games among other sports.

Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger emphasized that ESPN’s array of content will be available on the service.

“The full suite of ESPN channels will be available to consumers alongside the sports programming of other industry leaders as part of a differentiated sports-centric service,” he said.

Included in the service will be all of ESPN’s channels, Fox Sports, ABC, and TNT among others.

“The launch of this new streaming sports service is a significant moment for Disney and ESPN, a major win for sports fans, and an important step forward for the media business,” Bob Iger, Disney Chief Executive, said in the release.

While the announcement was made official on Tuesday it did not mean that negotiations on what will be included in the new subscription service definitely. That part of the deal is “subject to the negotiation of definitive agreements among the parties,” according to the statement.

The statement did not mention the UFC by name, but with the UFC’s deal with ESPN up in 2025 this new venture presents a different opportunity for the promotion’s broadcasting rights.

The announcement comes off the heels of the WWE’s 10-year $5 billion deal with Netflix that kicks off in 2025.

The new streaming service is scheduled to launch in Fall 2024.
