While a highly anticipated heavyweight title fight between champion Reug Reug and Anatoly Malykhin dropped off the card, with the champ in a serious car accident recently, there was still plenty of action to behold for fans in Tokyo and watching at home.

That included two title fights in MMA, and a kickboxing title unification bout in the main event, as Thailand’s Superbon takes on Japan’s on Masaaki Noiri for featherweight gold. Five title fights in total, Rafael Lovato Jr. in grappling action, Stamp Fairtex returning to kickboxing, and lots more.

Additionally, the Thai star, a multi-sport champion during her time with ONE Championship, has agreed to relinquish her ONE atomweight MMA world championship.

Promotion officials announced the news on Friday. ONE’s return to Denver, where they debuted on U.S. soil, will now take place on June 26, 2026 at the Ball Arena. A setback while rehabbing a knee injury was identified as the reason Stamp Fairtex was forced to withdraw.

Denice Zamboanga, the promotion’s interim atomweight champion, now finds herself promoted to undisputed status.

“We are saddened to hear of the injury setback to Stamp and wish her nothing but the best in her road to recovery,” ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong was quoted as saying as part of ONE’s announcement on Friday. “After looking at multiple alternate headlining options that unfortunately did not come together, we have made the difficult decision to move our Denver event to June 26.”

Promotion officials announced the event on Thursday. ONE 173 will feature the return the return of Stamp Fairtex (11-2), the promotion’s atomweight champion who will take on interim champ Denice Zamboanga (12-2).

The event will mark ONE Championship’s second visit to Denver, and third overall to the state of Colorado, including ONE’s debut on U.S. soil in Broomfield in May 2023. They set up shop in Denver last year, while pulling out of a planned trip to Atlanta, GA.

Fairtex has long been one of the promotion’s biggest stars, earning multi-sport champ distinction after claiming gold in kickboxing, Muay Thai, and later MMA (she retains only the ONE atomweight MMA championship currently). Stamp was expected to Zamboanga last March, only for the bout to be pushed back to June, then scrapped due to an injury sustained by Fairtex.

A September fight against Xiong Jing Nan that would have seen Stamp challenge for the Chinese fighter’s strawweight title was scrapped due to injury as well.

As a result, Stamp Fairtex has not competed since September of 2023. During her absence, Zamboanga has won back-to-back bouts, and captured interim gold opposite Alyona Rassohyna last month.

ONE announced on Wednesday that ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado on Sept 6 will be headlined by two world title fights. ONE atomweight MMA champion Stamp will move up to strawweight to challenge for Xiong Jing Nan for her title.

The co-main event sets ONE bantamweight Muay Thai champion Haggerty defending his title against Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Xiong will be defending her strawweight title for the 8th time since winning gold in 2018. She’s coming off a win over Nat Jaroonsak in a special rules MMA bout last September.

Stamp (11-2) returns to Denver for the first time since last May where she finished Alyse Anderson in an MMA bout.

Since then she’s also collected a victory over Seo Hee Ham that earned her the ONE atomweight championship in late 2023.

Haggerty looks to defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title and get a win back against Superlek who defeated him in 2018.

The champ is coming off a knockout victory over Felipe Lobo in February. That was following a kickboxing win over Fabricio de Andrade last November.

ONE 168 takes place at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Sept 6 and broadcast on Prime Video.

Stamp (11-2), known for dancing her way out to the ring, will face Denice Zamboanga (10-2) in a women’s atomweight title fight at the event at the Lusail Sports Arena on Friday, March 1, 2024.

In addition to Stamp vs. Zamboanga, a welterweight submission grappling title fight between champ Tye Ruotolo and IBJJF World Champion Izaak Michell was also announced in a press release distributed on Tuesday.

With an 11-2 record in MMA, women’s atomweight champ Stamp is the first ONE athlete to have held gold in three disciplines, having previously reigned as the promotion’s atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing champion. After coming up short against Angela Lee in a title shot in 2022 (earned by winning the women’s atomweight grand prix), Stamp bounced back with victories over Jihin Radzuan and Alyse Anderson before finishing UFC veteran and RIZIN champ Seo Hee Ham this past September to claim the MMA title vacated by the retiring Lee.

Stamp Fairtex has seven finishes among her eleven pro victories in MMA.

Zamboanga, hailing from the Philippines, has won her last two match-ups.

ONE 166: Qatar will be accompanied by a no gi submission grappling tournament in the lead-up to the event. A middleweight title fight between Reinier de Ridder and Anatoly Malykhin, the latter seeking a third championship after claiming gold at heavyweight and light heavyweight, headlines.

The last champion of the division, Angela Lee, has taken a leave of absence since the tragic suicide of her younger sister Victoria Lee. This fight was originally for interim gold until, moments before Stamp and Ham walked out, Angela Lee laid down the belt in the cage as she announced her retirement, putting it up for grabs in the fight. Stamp had a big opportunity here to continue growing her already prodigious star power which she earned by being ONE’s first two-sport champion. The most famous female nak muay in the world saw a big boost to her global profile after a big win at ONE’s first US event earlier in 2023 and getting her hands on gold in this event set another historical landmark by becoming the first three-sport champion in ONE Championship history, with belts in Muay Thai, kickboxing, and now MMA.

Ham came out southpaw against the orthodox Stamp, they hand-fought with their lead hands for a while. The first attacks were Stamp leg kicks, which Ham avoided. It was a cagey start to the fight, with only singular strikes being thrown. Stamp started moving higher with her kicks, with a few good body kicks, one of which she landed a right hand off of. The referee warned them for inaction but they still had trouble opening up, perhaps due to the open stance matchup. Ham began to land with her left hand a bit after that. With just under a minute left the Chinese fighter landed her best punch yet, a left hand that caught Stamp off-balance. Stamp responded with body kicks to end a close round, though MMA fights in ONE are not scored round-by-round but as a whole.

Stamp opened round two with more body kicks after her corner recognized that as her best strike and told her to use it more. With three minutes left in the round the fight’s first clinch was initiated by Stamp as she looked to use her Muay Thai skills, just missing an elbow. Stamp’s pace increased around that point as she let go of her right hand more and the excitement factor got to a level that the referee felt was acceptable. Suddenly Ham turned the tables with a big left hand that sat down her foe; she jumped on top in Stamp’s full guard. Ham was unable to do much from top position until the end of the round when she started to open up with ground and pound, but that left room for Stamp to throw up an armbar. Ham tried to stand up but the armbar was tight, but the bell got her out of the position.

The third round started with Ham marching forward but soon Stamp Fairtex landed a body shot that clearly made Ham uncomfortable and sent her backpedaling. When Stamp realized she had a hurt opponent in front of her she pressed down on the gas and swarmed Ham. A few shots upstairs and one big body shot sent her to the canvas in a turtle position, and the referee stepped in after one more unanswered shot.

With this result, Stamp Fairtex solidified her place in history as she became a three-sport world champion, a truly unique accomplishment. The former champion, Angela Lee, embraced her in the center of the cage as she passed her belt on to her former opponent. Stamp brought out her English for the post-fight interview, declaring this experience to be “f*cking amazing.” In a sweet moment she said that Angela was her idol and she always looked up to her.

The fight came in the wake of Angela Lee’s sabbatical from the sport, following the death of sister Victoria, and with no surety as to when or if “Unstoppable” Lee would return.

In the co-main event, Smilla Sundell put her strawweight Muay Thai title on the line against Allycia Rodrigues, while the inaugural ONE women’s atomweight submission grappling championship would be awarded when Danielle Kelly faced Jessa Khan in a rematch of their 2021 meeting, which Khan won via decision.

A former title holder in both Muay Thai and Kickboxing, Stamp (10-2), still just 25, faces UFC vet Seo Hee Ham for interim atomweight gold in Singapore. The interim title comes about as Angela Lee remains absent from the sport in the wake of sister Victora’s tragic passing last December, and the recent admission that Angela Lee herself tried to take her own life.

It was Lee that Stamp Fairtex faced in her first shot at gold, having won the promotion’s atomweight grand prix in 2021. The following year, Stamp faced Lee, only to be submitted in the second round.

In terms of what she can apply from that first title experience to her upcoming fight with Ham, Stamp told Cageside Press during a virtual press conference on Wednesday that some of it comes down to emotional control. But the fight with Lee also showed the two-sport champ she needed to focus more on MMA as a whole.

“From the previous fight I had with Angela Lee, it made me focus more on MMA,” said Stamp. “I train more with BJJ, and also, back then I was too nervous. That made me learn that from now on, I can control myself emotionally — more stable to be ready for the fight.”

Carrying the name of the famed Fairtex gym with her, Stamp made her U.S. debut earlier this year. It certainly went over well with fans, with the Thai star proving to be one of the most popular fighters in Denver, Colorado this past May, at ONE Championship’s first-ever U.S. show.

She’s noticed an uptick in interest ever since. “I got more followers on my Instagram, now I’ve got almost 700,000 followers. It’s really good to know I’ve got followers from the other side of the world,” said Stamp.

The decorated striker is also open to training in the U.S. further. “If I have a chance to go to the U.S. again, I would love to. Of course I enjoy training with the local women athletes, they’re very experienced, and I would learn more from them.”

Later, Stamp touched on what was most difficult her as she made the transition from pure striking to mixed martial arts.

“I think the most challenging thing for me to transition from the first two, Muay Thai and kickboxing, to MMA, it would be I had to train more BJJ and takedowns. Harder than usual. Normally I train really, really hard, now I had to train harder than usual.”

Promotion officials announced recently that Ham (26-8) and Stamp (10-2) will face off at ONE Fight Night 14 on September 1, 2023.

The match-up had previously been revealed by ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, who suggested that Angela Lee, the current undisputed ONE women’s atomweight champ, might be done fighting after the untimely death of sister Victoria. Sityodtong did not reveal the date/location of the bout at that time, however.

ONE Fight Night 14 will air on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. and Canada. No location or venue has been officially announced for the September card.

Ham has not lost a fight since parting ways with the UFC in 2016. Since exiting that promotion and returning to the atomweight division, Ham has won nine straight fights, capturing the ROAD FC atomweight and RIZIN Super Atomweight championships in the process.

She’ll be hunting for a third title against Fairtex, who has held gold in ONE Championship in both kickboxing and Muay Thai, and continues to pursue a third belt in MMA. Most recently, she earned a Performance of the Night bonus after stopping Alyse Anderson with a body kick at ONE Fight Night 10 in Colorado, the promotion’s debut on U.S. soil.

Lee, just 18, was an undefeated ONE Championship star and younger sister of ONE champs Angela (atomweight) and Christian (lightweight and welterweight) Lee.

Neither Lee sibling has competed since the death of Victoria late last year, for obvious reasons. Now, it appears Angela may not return to the cage at all.

In a recent Facebook Watch Q&A (via Beyond Fighting), ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated that while Christian Lee has indicated he will return, Angela is unlikely to fight again.

“Angela Lee is likely not coming back due to the loss of her sister. Christian Lee told me that he wants to come back.”

As a result, the atomweight title will be on the line when Stamp Fairtex faces Seo Hee Ham this August. “Stamp and Seo Hee Ham will fight in August for the ONE Atomweight Championship,” Sityodtong said in the same Facebook Watch session.

Stamp earned the fight with Seo Hee Ham at ONE Fight Night 10 in Colorado last month, defeating Alyse Anderson with a nasty body kick KO. A 2021 women’s atomweight grand prix champion, the Thai star, who has held ONE Championship gold in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, previously made an unsuccessful bid for ONE’s atomweight crown in MMA.

Originally, the fight with Ham was expected to be for an interim title. With the questions surrounding Angela Lee’s future, however, it appears the undisputed championship will be on the line.

ONE Championship has yet to officially announce the news.

Back in Colorado, Stamp told media outlets including Cageside Press that Seo Hee Ham was not her toughest foe to date. “Angela Lee is much tougher. The toughest opponent I’ve ever faced was Angela.”

Angela Lee, 26, last fought in October 2022, losing a shot at a second title when she dropped the third fight of her trilogy against Xiong Jing Nan. With a career record of 11-3, the Canadian-born Lee is undefeated as an atomweight.
