The latest Prime Video card from the martial arts powerhouse featured longtime bantamweight Mauy Thai champion Nong-O, putting his title on the line against former flyweight champ Jonathan Haggerty.

In the co-main event mixed martial arts contest, undefeated lightweight talents Halil Amir and Maurice Abevi threw down. In women’s atomweight action, meanwhile, grand prix alums Denice Zamboanga and Julie Mezabarba were set to collide, while at strawweight, China’s Meng Bo returned to take on Dayane Cardoso.

Nong-O, known as one of the best pound-for-pound nak muay of the current era, was coming off of a devastating uppercut win over Felipe Lobo, completing his sixth title defense in quick succession since winning the inaugural ONE Muay Thai bantamweight title in 2019.

Liam Harrison, for his part, was coming off of his own knockout over the well-respected former Lumpinee Stadium champion Muangthai, which earned him a staggering $100,000 bonus from the promotion due to the fight being one of the most entertaining single round bouts in the promotion’s history. Harrison got dropped two times in quick succession to start the fight but came back with three straight knockdowns of his own to take home the victory and earn this title shot.

At thirty-five and thirty-six years of age, respectively, Nong-O and Harrison are two truly remarkable and unique examples of longevity in a sport that does not generally reward sticking around for so long. Most nak muay are fighting from a very young age in small shows in Thailand and rack up hundreds of bouts by the time they are in their mid-twenties, around which time they usually pass their prime. Nong-O, for example, has three-hundred and twenty-six bouts, but its not uncommon for someone ten years younger than him to have about as many, as seen in the record of fellow ONE champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who has just six less fights at age twenty-five. As a side note, Liam Harrison has a paltry one-hundred and sixteen fights under his belt, which is a bit more common among farangs.

The bout started with Nong-O working his leg kicks and jab clinically. As a fighter who builds into fights as they go it could be expected that he would not come out like a firebrand, which is usually Liam Harrison’s methodology, although for his part the challenger was being more careful here against such a tough test. However, the champion landed an big right hand early that got Liam’s attention. Soon he followed it up with a low leg kick that buckled the leg of his foe and left him visibly weakened. Another perfect leg kick followed in short order, sending the Brit to the floor and causing a ten-count. Harrison howled in pain and shook his head at one point, causing the referee called it off. The power and placement of the kicks, all right on the knee of ‘The Hitman,’ did an extraordinary amount of damage in such a short time, even relative to the the high standards of Thai leg kicks.

Liam Harrison was able to walk out of the cage with all watchers surely hoping he would have no long-term damage. Regardless, this was the lucky number seventh title defense for the legend Nong-O, his fourth knockout in a row, and he did it in less than a third of the time of any of his other knockouts in ONE Championship. It was a quick night at the office and he received a $50,000 bonus for his efficient efforts.

The rest of the six-fight card was comprised of MMA action. In perhaps the most significant fight of the night, former featherweight champ Marat Gafurov served up the first defeat of prospect Lowen Tynanes career. While no means a blowout, the split decision loss will represent a small step back for the highly touted Tynanes.

Another top prospect also fell at Collision Course, as bantamweight (keeping in mind ONE’s modified weight rules) Troy Worthen lost a unanimous decision to Yusup Saadulaev. It was the first loss of Worthen’s pro career.

Main event action, meanwhile, had ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion Roman Kryklia facing off with Andrei Stoica. And on the MMA side of things, it was an old lion vs. young lion sort of affair when former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat Gafurov took on undefeated prospect Lowen Tynanes.

ONE Championship’s Edge of Greatness in Kallang, Singapore saw bantamweight Muay Thai champ Nong-O Gaiyanghadao retain his title in stunning fashion, securing a fourth-round knockout of challenger Saemapetch Fairtex. It was a statement win by Nong-O, who has a chance to reign supreme in the division for some time.

The evening’s co-main event was a much closer affair, however. Amir Khan took a close split decision against Ev Ting, in a fight that even ONE chief Chatri Sityodtong saw going the other way.

“Ev Ting vs Amir Khan was definitely a super close fight, but my personal opinion is that Ev won,” Sityodtong wrote on Facebook following the event. “ONE Championship works with some of the world’s best judges, referees, and officials. I respect their professional judgement. However, I do not think that a fighter who runs away with minimal output deserves to win. Amir was fighting not to lose while Ev was fighting to win. At the request of Ev Ting’s camp, the fight is under official review. The world wants to see a rematch.”

ONE Championship’s Edge of Greatness card unfolded in Kallang, Singapore on Friday, less than a month after the UFC’s own excursion to the Asian nation. How would the latest ONE card shape up against the competition? While the UFC brought out Ben Askren, a former ONE star, Chatri Sityodtong and company opted to put a Muay Thai title fight atop their card.

That fight saw champ Nong-O Gaiyanghadao attempt to defend his title against the rising Saemapetch Fairtex. In MMA action, meanwhile, the evening’s co-main event witnessed Singapore’s own Amir Khan go to war against Malaysian-Kiwi Ev Ting.

Also notable, Colbey Northcutt, big sister of former UFC star and current ONE athlete Sage Northcutt, made her promotional debut. She faced off against Putri Padmi of Indonesia.

Having marked their “century” — with ONE: Century in Japan celebrating their 100th major event — ONE Championship is filling out the rest of its year. Taking place in the promotion’s home base of Singapore in November, Edge of Greatness is the latest card announced by the Asian mixed martial arts powerhouse. And it’s getting a Muay Thai title fight in the main event.

In a press release, ONE officials revealed that Edge of Greatness will be headlined by Nong-O Gaiyanghadao defending his bantamweight Muay Thai title against challenger Saemapetch Fairtex. The booking is an all-Thailand battle, featuring two of the biggest Muay Thai stars in ONE Championship.

The co-main event at Edge of Greatness will head back to the MMA world, however. In that, top lightweights Amir Khan and Ev Ting will face off. Khan (11-6) has fought all but one of his professional MMA bouts under the ONE Championship banner. Once knocking on the door of a title shot, Khan has fallen on hard times of late. He’s lost three straight fights heading into Edge of Greatness, and is badly in need of a win.

Ev Ting’s fortunes have been slightly better. Ting (17-6) snapped a two-fight skid last time out, when he defeated UFC vet Daichi Abe at ONE’s Masters of Destiny in July.

ONE Championship: Edge of Greatness takes place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 22.

ONE Championship made it’s debut in Vietnam Friday, hosting Immortal Triumph in Ho Chi Minh City. It did so, however, without any MMA bouts on the card, due to regulations still prohibiting the sport from being practiced unencumbered in the Asian nation.

That meant a card full of kickboxing and Muay Thai action, but including a smattering of MMA fighters including KOTC veteran Bi Nguyen.

Note: Saemapetch Fairtex vs. Adam Noi was cancelled due to medical reasons regarding Noi.
