“The Action Man” is likely to be out of action for a while.

After suffering an obvious injury to his upper leg during the UFC Vegas 90 main event this past Saturday, it was clear something was wrong with Chris Curtis. Now, the popular middleweight has revealed that, as feared, he tore his hamstring in the bout.

Curtis took to social media on Monday to announce the news, revealing a grade 3 hamstring tear.

A grade three tear is considered severe, and may require surgical intervention. It’s unclear if that will be the case for Curtis, as he noted he is “waiting on more info.”

https://twitter.com/Actionman513/status/1777455430987567524

Curtis revealed following the bout, which saw him drop a close decision against Brendan Allen, that he had tweaked his hamstring early in the fight. In the dying seconds of the final round, however, the muscle appeared to give. Curtis could be seen briefly stumbling, though he hid it well and fought through the pain. After the final horn, he required assistance leaving the cage, and was in obvious discomfort.

The Ohio native, 36, trains at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas alongside the likes of Sean Strickland, and has become a popular figure in the UFC‘s middleweight division. He kicked off the year at UFC 297 in Toronto, winning a split decision opposite Marc-Andre Barriault.

Saturday’s decision was also a split; this time, the judges went against Chris Curtis, adding insult to injury. Overall, Curtis is 5-3, 1NC in the UFC, with all three of his losses coming on the scorecards.

UFC Vegas 90 has come and gone, and had the unfortunate distinction of falling in the shadow of UFC 300. Still, someone has to go before the milestone event, and there have been worse Fight Night events.

Brendan Allen came out ahead in the main event, while Damon Jackson got the nod in the co-headliner. Let’s play a little matchmaker and see what comes next for the night’s big winners.

Brendan Allen

Brendan Allen now possesses the longest winning streak of any middleweight contender in the UFC. However, he still has not beaten any top-ten opponents, though that’s not his fault, as Marvin Vettori pulled out of their fight, causing Chris Curtis to step in. With Israel Adesanya allegedly getting the next middleweight title shot, the next most relevant contender who is available would be Jared Cannonier.

Cannonier beat the man who would become champ, Sean Strickland, by close split decision in 2022 before brutally dominating Marvin Vettori over five rounds last year. He arguably deserves a title shot, so putting Allen and Cannonier together would be perfect as a title eliminator. The power of Cannonier would be a real test for Allen, as he would fight the hardest opponent of his career thus far.

Allen’s Next Fight: vs Jared Cannonier

Damon Jackson

Damon ‘the Leech’ Jackson rebounded from his loss to Dan Ige with a close win over Alexander Hernandez. Jackson is now 6-4-1 in the UFC with one no-contest, a more-than-respectable record. He will not get another shot at the rankings just yet but maybe with another win or two against other featherweight hopefuls.

One such hopeful is Nate Landwehr, who is in the same spot as Jackson after also losing to Dan Ige before beating Jamall Emmers in Atlantic City. With this exciting featherweight matchup one man could achieve a two-fight winning streak and be well-poised to strike at the top-15.

Jackson’s Next Fight: vs Nate Landwehr

Chepe Mariscal

Chepe Mariscal went to battle against Frenchman Morgan Charriere, which he came out on top of by split decision in UFC Vegas 90’s ‘Fight of the Night.’ His toughness, dirty boxing, and cardio are all key traits that make him a tough out for any other unranked featherweight. Now with a 3-0 record in the UFC, Chepe and his exciting style are nearly ready for a shot at the rankings.

One other relevant unranked featherweight matchup coming soon is David Onama VS Jonathan Paerce. The winner of that matchup will be on the rise as well, and each man has a style that Mariscal has not seen before in the UFC. If the Team Elevation product can get past the power of Onama or the pacey wrestling of JSP then he will be truly ready to challenge a top-fifteen opponent.

Mariscal’s Next Fight: vs Winner of Onama/Pearce

Ignacio Bahamondes

Chilean kickboxing specialist Ignacio Bahamondes also rebounded from a tough loss as he put away veteran Christos Giagos in the first round at UFC Vegas 90. It still remains to be seen how he deals with a solid grappling threat after Giagos barely had any chance to shoot on him, but Bahamondes’ distance control does put wrestlers at a disadvantage to begin with. It is time for another veteran test, and what better one than Carlos Diego Ferreira.

‘CDF’ was once a ranked fighter for many years and though he has aged out of contention now, he is still going strong, as seen in his ‘Knockout of the Year’ contender over Michael Johnson in 2023. This battle of South American lightweights could be an exciting one to watch in the near future.

Bahamondes’ Next Fight: vs Carlos Diego Ferreira

Charlie Campbell

Long Island prospect Charlie Campbell soundly beat Trevor Peek over three rounds in one of this Apex card’s best fights. Though he tired late, Campbell was able to use his grappling to stifle an also-tired but still dangerous Peek, showing his well-rounded skillset after two rounds of largely dominating the striking. At 2-0 in the UFC he has a ways to go, but is on the right path, especially if he can beat someone like Rafa Garcia next.

Garcia has been in the UFC since 2021, is 4-3, and currently owns a two-fight winning streak. His well-rounded skillset and greater experience makes for an appropriate test for Charlie at this stage of the LAW MMA product’s career.

Campbell’s Next Fight: vs Rafa Garcia

A five-fight UFC Vegas 90 main card on Saturday night was action packed, to say the least. The main card was headlined by a pair of high-level middleweights in a rematch from December of 2021.

Chris Curtis would compete in his second split decision fight of 2024, but this time, he was on the losing end of said decision. Eight decisions on a 12-fight card with three of the five-fight main card bouts ending in split decisions.

Chris Curtis

Curtis lost a very close fight to Brendan Allen on Saturday night, falling to 5-3, 1 NC in the UFC. Chris also tweaked his hamstring in the second round before severely injuring it just moments before the end of the bout.

Chris Curtis could very well be out of action for an extended period of time due to the hamstring injury. Chris will likely be out for the better part of a year depending on the severity his injury. With that in mind, there are a couple of fighters that could potentially make for good fights when Curtis returns to the octagon (the loser of Anthony Hernandez vs Roman Dolidze, in June, would be ideal but Curtis will still be recovering). The front runner for Curtis would have to be a fighter like Roman Kopylov. Roman is 4-3 in the UFC but has won foue of his last five fights all by stoppage. And Kopylov is still early-ish in his pro fight career with 15 fights. It’d be a great striking battle and a good welcome back for Chris.

Curtis’ next fight: Roman Kopylov

Alexander Hernandez

Alexander Hernandez had himself a rough night at UFC Vegas 90. Hernandez missed weight on the scale in third fight at 145lbs, ahead of losing a split decision on Saturday night.

Hernandez now has a 6-7 record in the UFC and is winless at 0-3 in the featherweight division. If Hernadez insists on staying at 145lbs, then a good matchup for him would be Morgan Charriere. Morgan fought just prior to Hernadez and though he only has just two fights with the promotion, he has 30 professional MMA fights. Hernandez does not have much leverage at featherweight.

If Hernandez chooses to move back to lightweight where he is 6-4 in the UFC, he should fight, the winner of the Terrance McKinney vs Esteban Ribovics fight. That fight is about a month away and would throw Hernandez right back into the mix at 155lbs. A couple of finishes or impressive wins and he’d be knocking on the door of being ranked.

Hernandez’s next fight at featherweight: Morgan Charriere

Hernandez’s next fight at lightweight: Terrance McKinney vs Esteban Ribovics winner

Morgan Charriere

Morgan was on the wrong side of a split decision in a hard-fought bout against Chepe Mariscal. The bout won fight of the night honors and raised Morgan’s stock, as it was just his second bout in the UFC.

A solid name, as previously mentioned, would be Alexander Hernandez. Alexander has won only one fight of his last five and is 0-3 as a featherweight. Hernandez has 13 fights in the UFC and is has made a considerable name for himself, which could be a great opportunity for a fighter like Charriere. Not to mention, the timing would work as the two shared a card and both fought to split decisions in three round bouts.

If Hernandez is not available, Charriere could fight Seung Woo Choi, his original matchup. “Sting” pulled out of the bout with Morgan and has a 4-5 record with the UFC, 11-6 in pro MMA. The two matchups very well and either way exciting things on the horizon for Morgan Charriere.

Charriere’s next fight: Alexander Hernandez or Seung Woo Choi

Christos Giagos

Christos Giagos is now 6-8 after two stints with the UFC having shared the octagon with the likes of Charles Oliveria, Drakkar Klose, Arman Tsarukyan, Thiago Moises and Daniel Zellhuber. An undefeated Gilbert Burns was Giagos welcome to the UFC back in 2014.

Giagos has fought some monsters over the course of his career and still has a pretty solid record. Christos is obviously a fighter that is used to measure just how skilled up and coming hype trains are within the UFC, as is evident thru his last couple of fights.

Give Giagos the winner of the Chase Hooper vs. Viacheslav Borshchev. Both fighters have under 10 fights in the UFC and have shown promise with the promotion. Both fighters are also earlier on in their careers.

Jordan Leavitt would also be another good matchup, as he is coming off of a loss in November of last year to Chase Hooper. Leavitt would be available since he does not have a fight booked.

Giagos’ next fight: Winner of Chase Hooper vs. Viacheslav Borshchev or Jordan Leavitt

Trevor Peek

Peek lost a gruelingly paced fight at UFC Vegas 90 where he hung in there but ultimately just gave up too much control on the ground to get the win.

Trevor Peek is a Contender Series product that just has a knack for unadulterated violence. Violence and cardio, as well as being very unorthodox. After winning his Contender Series fight in 2022, Peek has now gone 2-2 while with the UFC. Peek has never been finished in his career and has just one finish while in the UFC.

While Peek is always in fun fights, in some respects he is still developing. Trevor only has 11 pro fights so a fight against 7-2, Alex Munoz would make sense. Munoz is also a Contender Series vet and has been out of action since July of 2023 when he beat Carl Deaton III. Munoz is 1-2 in the UFC losing to Nasrat Haqparast and Luis Pena.

Peek’s next fight: Alex Munoz

The scorecards were perhaps just a bit controversial, but featherweights Chepe Mariscal and Morgan “The Last Pirate” Charriere both came away from UFC Vegas 90 with their wallets significantly heavier.

Saturday’s main card battle was a boost in profile for both fighters, one that paid off in spades. A back-and-forth battle across three rounds saw both men have their moments, with Charriere showing superb takedown defense and solid technical striking, while Mariscal fared better when things got a little dirtier.

In the end, two judges scored the fight 29-28 for Mariscal, giving him the win, while the dissenting judge awarded Charriere a 30-27 score. Pretty divided, as these things go, but the UFC saw fit to reward the pair with Fight of the Night honors. That pockets both men an additional $50,000 USD on top of their purse, outfitting pay etc.

Not a bad deal in the end, with stiff competition from the main event featuring Brendan Allen and Chris Curtis (Allen came away with the win in that one, avenging a 2021 loss to “The Action Man“).

Performance of the Night bonuses at UFC Vegas 90 went to Cesar Almeida, for his TKO finish of Dylan Budka on the preliminary card, and Ignacio Bahamondes. Chile’s Bahamondes put away Christos Giagos with a head kick — his second head kick finish under the UFC banner.

Middleweights Brendan Allen and Chris Curtis met for the second time in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 90.

The pair’s initial encounter had come not all that long ago, at a UFC on ESPN event in December of 2021. Allen had not lost since; Curtis was 3-2, 1NC since that fight.

Things went Allen’s way early in Saturday’s rematch, as he took control with a bodylock when the pair came together at center. The takedown would be completed alongside the fence, with Allen taking the back and getting a body lock in place. With over three minutes on the clock “All In” methodically pursued the submission, softening Curtis up and looking to control the wrists. But Curtis turned in and escaped to his feet, perhaps proving something to himself in the process.

On the feet, Curtis walked the former LFA champ down, even while giving up a bit of reach and height. Allen focused on his lateral movement along the fence but was soon covering up when Curtis went on the attack.

Round two saw Curtis find a home for his right hand in the opening minute, but Allen wore it well. Allen answered by walking forward, working his jab and left hand. Another Curtis right would have Allen wagging his finger, as if to say “you didn’t get me.” But Allen did get Curtis, appearing to have him hurt ever so briefly in the ensuing exchange. The back-and-forth would continue with Allen landing a knee up the middle. Curtis ripped the body, and added in a kick to the leg at times.

An action-packed round with both men having their moments led to the third frame. Allen’s corner suggested between rounds that he had won the second, as well as the first. Whether the judges agreed remained to be seen.

More back-and-forth action played out in round three. Allen mixed in an elbow, and landed a right hand. He landed a kick; Curtis fired a lazy jab. Not so lazy was a right hook that landed on Allen a moment later. A thumb poke by Allen, however, halted the action, but Curtis was able to continue after a moment. Back underway, Curtis clipped Allen with a right hand; Allen fired back in response before shooting a takedown. He didn’t quite land it, but took the back of Curtis, who was standing. That forced Curtis to support his opponent’s weight, sapping him of additional energy, at least in theory. It also bought Allen precious time to recover.

Round four saw an eye poke nearly derail things again, with Allen the victim this time. Allen briefly turned away, but was able to continue. Curtis pressed, backing Brendan Allen up. Allen then shot and landed a double-leg takedown at the midway point of the round, and soon had hooks in. Curtis reversed, however, and got back to his feet, forcing Allen to follow. On the feet, Curtis ripped the body, then went upstairs. Allen was showing a fair amount of damage, and while the fight remained close, Chris Curtis appeared far fresher in that department.

An Allen head kick nearly made it a moot point; a takedown attempt followed, but Curtis sprung back up. Only to have Allen drag him down and take the back, both hooks in once again. This time, when Curtis attempted to reverse, Allen countered, transitioning to mount so fluidly it appeared he’d had a premonition of the sequence. Or at least had adapted to Curtis’ defense.

Heading to the final frame, both men remained in the fight. A very sportsmanlike embrace opened the round, with Curtis pressing the action early. Curtis then stuffed an Allen takedown, at least initially, landed a knee, and added few hammerfists before “All In” took the back. Allen couldn’t keep the fight down, however, with Curtis, as he had all fight long, finding a way to escape. On the feet, however, Allen appeared to be getting desperate. The shots were a bit wild, a bit far out now. Curtis marched forward, fired an elbow, and blocked a kick. Allen changed levels for another takedown; Curtis sprawled and ripped the body with Allen still on his knees.

Allen attempted to lay back in guard, but Curtis was having none of that. Instead, he forced Allen up; Allen punched his way in but fell short on a takedown attempt before adjusting and landing it with just over a minute on the clock. Time was a huge factor now, as Curtis had likely been ahead in the round to that point. Allen got his hooks in and landed a few strikes before Curtis reversed and escaped! Another desperation takedown by Allen fell short; he then charged in with a jump knee! Curtis was hurt! Allen fired another punch before the horn sounded, and Curtis fell to one knee, then his side, clutching his hamstring at the end of the bout.

It went to the judges after a grueling, hard-fought five rounds. Two awarded it to Allen, who called for either a title shot, or another rematch, with Sean Strickland. As for Curtis, hopefully the leg injury isn’t too serious, as he remains one of the most reliable fighters in the division.

A battle of fatal flaws went down in UFC Vegas 89’s co-main event between Damon Jackson and Alexander Hernandez.

Damon Jackson was brutally knocked out by Dan Ige in his last fight, showcasing the flawed chin that has led to him suffering some brutal knockouts in his career. But his cardio and pace could expose his foe’s suspect gas tank, as Hernandez has been well-known to gas out and lose late in fights. He also missed weight, potentially maybe to a tough weight cut. Still, Alex’s prodigious power could be his key to winning if his right hand could find Jackson’s chin. In the end, both man pushed through and survived scares with their respective flaws to make it to a close decision, which Jackson edged out.

The striking was balanced early in round one and then Jackson got to a clinch, where he looked to grapple. He had a rear body-lock temporarily but Hernandez turned into him and escaped. Hernandez seemed to have an advantage with the boxing but Damon Jackson’s calf kicks made Alex since every time they landed. Damon tried another takedown; though he failed he softened up Alex’s thighs with short knees constantly for nearly a minute. Then he was indeed able to land a takedown. Though he could not flatten Hernandez out and establish strong control he ended the round in a control position.

The second round began with Alex pressing forward but having trouble tracking down Jackson. The striking felt awkward as both were too far out of range to land, most of the time. Ninety seconds in they each landed a strong punch simultaneously, and from there Hernandez found a few clean punches in the next minute. However Jackson’s next land popped open Hernandez’s nose, which bled profusely. The round was very close, but then Jackson landed his first takedown of the frame. Jackson waited for his chance and scrambled to Alexander’s back, quick as lightning. He got both hooks in and then the body triangle as he attacked the choke. When he was unable to land it he punched away from the back, putting the round firmly in his pocket.

Potentially down two rounds, Hernandez had to find a finish in the third. He almost did just that by coming right out and dropping Jackson with a right hand. His ground and pound was stifled just enough to keep him from finishing but he got into full mount in a scramble. From there Alex hunted an arm triangle but Jackson scrambled to his feet and landed a knee, then dove for a takedown. From the clinch he set up a unique throw to take down Hernandez, take the back, and flatten him out. However Hernandez got his butt in the air and shook Damon off the top. But it was Alex who seemed to be fading, so Jackson went for another takedown. Hernandez dug deep and stayed up, but was stuck in the clinch. Jackson stalled him there for a long time, with Alex maybe too tired to separate and throw haymakers. Finally they both let their hands go for the final ten seconds.

The scorecards were expected to be close and took a while to be tabulated. When they were read it was a split. The first judge had it 30-27 for Hernandez, an odd scorecard which turned out to be the outlier, as the other two had it 29-28 Jackson, giving Damon the win.

Chepe opened the action with a leg kick that immediately drew a reaction from Charriere. From there, Mariscal went into a takedown attempt with Morgan defending via guillotine. An anaconda attempt followed, but Chepe Mariscal didn’t appear to be in any real danger. Instead, they moved back to the feet, still in a clinch, and wound up on the fence.

From there, the fight moved off the cage to center, then went back to the fence where Charriere dropped elbows as Mariscal pursued a takedown. Chepe refused to give up on the attempt, but “The Last Pirate” Charriere proved to have impressive takedown defense. And care of a bodylock, Charriere soon landed his own takedown, though Chepe didn’t stay down long enough for it to matter.

Back on the feet, Charriere blocked a head kick, and they would soon head to round two.

The second opened with a bit more in the way of trading at range. From a distance, Charriere was just a little more technical, a little more accurate. The pair had slowed, and Chepe was showing some damage around the eyes, while also enduring some low kicks. France’s Charriere also uncorked some front kicks to the body, which appeared to slow Chepe further. They would stay on the feet, Charriere picking his opponent apart, until the final minute of round two, when it was Morgan Charrriere landing not one but two takedowns, and nearly a third off a caught kick.

Mariscal came out in the third having clearly lost the previous round, with the first somewhat closer. Still, there was a sense of urgency in his corner, but it was Charierre putting a combo together early. Chepe then came back guns blazing, picking up the pace, walking forward firing lefts and rights while Charriere covered up! But Morgan slipped a punch, changed levels and landed a key takedown, halting the comeback train in its tracks.

With half a round still on the clock, Morgan Charriere settled into half guard. He’d eat just under a minute off the clock before they got back up; Charriere later dropped into an anaconda attempt to no avail. But with just a minute to go, Chepe Mariscal was on his knees, though he would manage to get on top! Charriere nearly swept to top, but Chepe adjusted, then found room for a few ground strikes. Mariscal made it a nail-biter, but they went to the final horn in one of the best fights of the evening.

Come the scorecards, there was far from a consensus. While two judges awarded Mariscal the win, the dissenting official had it 30-27 for Morgan Charriere.

Chilean kickboxer Ignacio Bahamondes rebounded by knocking out grappler Christos Giagos at UFC Vegas 89.

After suffering his second UFC loss, and his first since 2021, the twenty-six year old Bahamondes faced another tough stylistic test as wrestling has proven to be a potential issue for him. He had to prove he had learned from his loss to L’udovit Klein as he took on UFC veteran Giagos, and did just that by defending the takedowns.

The length of Bahamondes gave him a seemingly clear advantage on the feet but Giagos reddened his nose early with a jab. However, Christos failed his first takedown and the striking of Ignacio began to take over. He landed a spinning hook kick that Giagos ate but then a big body kick hurt Giagos moreso. ‘La Jaula’ followed up with a flurry but his foe lived up to his nickname, ‘the Spartan,’ and pushed through with toughness to survive. Bahamondes began to find somewhat of a flowstate, popping Giagos with clean punches and avoiding any return. Then, as quickly as it had started, the fight was over. Ignacio Bahamondes landed a beautiful walk-off KO with a left round kick to the head. As Giagos slumped against the fence, the referee saw he was done and waved off the fight.

With this result Ignacio improved to 4-2 in the UFC and notched his second highlight-reel, walk-off head kick knockout in those fights. At only twenty-six, the Chilean has a bright future. Even if he can never be a top contender, he can clearly make a killing in post-fight bonuses.

He will surely need the money, as in his post-fight interview he revealed that his wife is five months pregnant, so he will be a new father soon.

Official Result: Ignacio Bahamondes def Christos Giagos by Knockout (head kick), Round 1, 3:34

Action-fighting lightweights Trevor Peek and Charlie Campbell squared off at UFC Vegas 89 and it was Campbell who came away with the win in an absolute war.

Campbell’s UFC debut last year went swimmingly as he stopped Alex Reyes in the first round with a seemingly never-ending barrage. The LAW MMA prospect took on Trevor Peek, the Southern fighter who’s drawl and wild-fighting style had captivated many fans while only being 2-1 in the UFC. Campbell once again won in exciting fashion on this card, but both men won in a way, as Peek and him will both be in top contention for the card’s ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus after the event is over.

Charlie Campbell’s gameplan appeared kick-heavy, as he used his length to maintain distance while consistently damaging Peek’s legs and body. Trevor finally just rushed forward to clinch but ate a knee on his way in and could not get Campbell down at first. He eventually did and landed a grounded knee but Campbell got right back up and escaped. Peek’s wild blitzes succeeded in putting Charlie on the back foot at times, but he rarely landed clean punches and when he got to the clinch usually just ate a knee before Campbell escaped. Campbell got a takedown of his own late, and after one round he was clearly up 10-9.

The second round started the same way until Charlie got sucked into a wild pocket exchange with Peek, who then tried to take him down. He failed his shot. Campbell escaped and then landed three straight low kicks, as it began to be clear that Peek’s leg was compromised. Peek did some damage on a clinch break and chased Charlie across the cage, but a reactive double leg led to Campbell landing a takedown and taking Trevor’s back. Peek got back up and his wild aggression hurt Charlie, turning Campbell into the one shooting desperately. However he fired back and landed good shots on Trevor, who took him down with thirty seconds left. Campbell got back up and used the collar tie to beat up Trevor’s midsection with knees before the bell.

Peek hurt his foe in a blitz early in round three, forcing Campbell to shoot a takedown, but that only got him stuck against the fence in the clinch. When he escaped, Peek just kept coming and forced Charlie back so fast he fell over, but when Peek got on top, Campbell reversed and scrambled to the back. He locked up a body triangle, potentially saving him as his performance on the feet was looking quite bad as he got more tired and the reckless aggression of Trevor began to be more effective. Peek exploded out of the position with ninety seconds left but Charlie maintained the back body-lock. Peek eventually escaped but got stuck on the ground again when Campbell chain wrestled to top position despite a bad initial shot. From there he was able to ride out the round and seal his victory.

There was little doubt as the scorecards were read, and indeed Charlie Campbell won 30-27 on all scorecards. In his post-fight interview he said that he was afraid of the Apex after being knocked out there on DWCS but also that in facing his fear he became better.

Official Result: Charlie Campbell def. Trevor Peek by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

McGee had lost five of his last seven, and needed a win to keep his career moving forward, while hoped to bounce back from a loss to Joaquin Buckley last October.

The fight began with Morono catching McGee with a solid punch about 20 seconds in, getting a big reaction out of his opponent. Morono kept flicking out his jab giving Court some problems especially when he would come within striking range. McGee would continue to circle, utilizing lateral movement looking for openings on his opponent. A couple of feints of a jab before a jab cross combination found McGee against the fence before he quickly battled off. A solid knee to the body from Moreno as McGee swung another right hand towards the body. With 30 seconds left in the round, Morono landed a body kick that got a reaction out of McGee. The fighters continued to go back and forth, landing nothing too damaging, till the end of the round.

The second round would begin with a takedown attempt from Court and Morono catching a very deep guillotine choke on McGee and locking it in. Morono held the choke for just under a minute before he was forced to release it. This resulted in McGee in top position against the fence. McGee would look to land some bombs from up top before temporarily getting caught in a deep armbar attempt from Alex. McGee was able to escape from the armbar attempt and start to land strikes from Morono’s guard. Court really mixed up the strikes well while on top going to both the body and the head. Morono temporarily got another guillotine before letting it go and a few seconds later both fighters would both be back on their feet. Morono would fire off a three-strike combination ending with a right hand that again found its mark snapping McGee’s head back. Both fighters began to open up more throwing lots of shots with 30 seconds left in the round.

The final round would begin like the one previous as Court shot for a takedown, backing Morono to the fence before abandoning the shot. As the two men stood and traded at center, Morono found the right hand once again. McGee kept moving, circling, popping out jabs and leg kicks. Midway thru the round Morono was marching forward looking for a jab-cross head kick combination, with both men moving slightly out of range of most of the more damaging strikes. A spinning back kick from Morono found its target on McGee’s body. With under a minute left, both men were again starting to let their hands go. With 10 seconds left, Morono tagged Court with a right hand and attempted a spinning back fist that whiffed; McGee seized the opportunity and landed a takedown. That’s how the fight would end with McGee in top position as time expired.

Official Decision: Alex Morono def. Court McGee by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
