ONE announced on Wednesday that ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado on Sept 6 will be headlined by two world title fights. ONE atomweight MMA champion Stamp will move up to strawweight to challenge for Xiong Jing Nan for her title.

The co-main event sets ONE bantamweight Muay Thai champion Haggerty defending his title against Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Xiong will be defending her strawweight title for the 8th time since winning gold in 2018. She’s coming off a win over Nat Jaroonsak in a special rules MMA bout last September.

Stamp (11-2) returns to Denver for the first time since last May where she finished Alyse Anderson in an MMA bout.

Since then she’s also collected a victory over Seo Hee Ham that earned her the ONE atomweight championship in late 2023.

Haggerty looks to defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title and get a win back against Superlek who defeated him in 2018.

The champ is coming off a knockout victory over Felipe Lobo in February. That was following a kickboxing win over Fabricio de Andrade last November.

ONE 168 takes place at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Sept 6 and broadcast on Prime Video.

One of the biggest stars in Japan made his ONE debut on Sunday as Takeru Segawa challenged flyweight kickboxing champion Superlek Kiatmuu9 for his title.

As two fighters at the apex of the most popular combat sports in their country, Superlek vs Takeru is truly a superfight, putting Muay Thai against Japanese kickboxing, two-weight Lumpinee Stadium champion against the first ever three-weight K-1 champion. Takeru has always been known for his heavy hands, aggression, and durability. Those traits have made him one of the premier action fighters in any combat sport in the world today. His only loss in ten years was against the greatest kickboxer of the millennium, Tenshin Nasukawa, in the biggest fight in Japanese kickboxing history. Meanwhile, Superlek has found a perfect mix of violence and tactical smarts, being one of the foremost technicians in striking today and argubly the pound-for-pound best nak muay in Thailand today. However his belt in ONE Championship is in kickboxing, making him the perfect choice to fight Takeru after Rodtang was unable to.

Takeru had trouble getting into punching range in the first round Superlek kicked hie foe up. Takeru tried to come back with his own leg kicks but Superlek turned up the intensity, jabbibg Takeru up and slaming in leg and body kicks. He got off to a really hot start, and the first round was a clear 10-9 for the champion.

Round two saw Takeru try even harder to press forward and corner Superlek to unload with his punches, but the leg kicks continued to eat his lead left leg up and he began to move gingerly on it. However he did indeed start to corner Superlek halfway through the round and land some punches. Takeru also began to check some of the leg kicks, but the ones he did eat were the most damaging strikes by far. Superlek ended the round with a rope-a-dope.

The hardest pound-for-pound kicker in the world continued to generate absurd power with his leg kicks, and even began to put Takeru on the back foot at points of the third round. With one minute left in the round, Takeru began one of the biggest flurries of his career, throwing a good twenty or thirty punches to the body and head in a matter of seconds, finally making Superlek turtle up and look like he has a weakness. Takeru had to steal at least one round before the championship rounds and he did just that.

Now that Takeru had worn down the champ somewhat, each engagement was more even. Superlek’s kicking was still a dynamic threat, but Takeru’s hands had finally got going and he was routinely tagging the champ. Superlek particularly did not seem to be liking the body punches. However, Superlek began to show a new threat, step-in knees to the body which damaged Takeru. Segawa still just smiled back at Superlek, did a little shimmy, and charged forward more. For the first time, a round’s score was in doubt. The fourth could have gone to either man.

The final round could have started with a tie score, but there was a chance Takeru needed a finish. Superlek’s jab got going early in the round and controlled the space to start, but the relentlessness of Takeru can get him into any fight. Superlek’s knees to the body came even more than the previous round. The action was a consant back and forth, becuase immediately after multiple good knees, Takeru hurt him with a right hand. Superlek’s chin was absurd as ever though, as he fired right back. They absoultely took lumps out of each other for the final minute and a half. Both men were nearly winded but refused to quite, just stumbling forward to do battle with each other until the final bell. After a war like that, the best fight in elite level combat sports this year so far, there was only one thing left to do.

When the judges’ scorecards were read, the call was “and still,” as Superlek Kiatmuu9 defended his title and won his eleventh fight in a row. Although the Japanese fighter and crowd were disappointed, both were classy in defeat, showing appreciation and respect for the champion.

When asked what is next for him, Superlek said he is ready for whatever Chatri throws at him, including going to Muay Thai again to fight Rodtang for his title, which he would have already won if he did not miss weight. For his performance in the Fight of the Night, Superlek recieved $50,000 from Chatri Sityodtong as a bonus.

When the broadcast went to interview Takeru, the superstar was in tears and recieved massive applause and support from his home faithful. His long, emotional speech was shortened by translation, but the translator said that Takeru said he does not know if he can do this anymore, hinting at retirement. He limped to the center of the ring thereafter and bowed his head to the ground, in what was clearly a spiritual experience for him, someone whose religion is combat.

Official Result: Superlek Kiatmuu9 def Takeru Segaway by Unanimous Decision

Muay Thai’s modern superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon was set to defend his ONE flyweight Muay Thai belt against arguably the best pound-for-pound nak muay in the world in Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Friday Fights 34 on Friday morning.

Unfortunately, as has been a theme for him lately, the ONE flyweight kickboxing title holder Superlek missed weight for the fight and so it became a non-title fight at a catchweight of 140-lbs. The rounds were also reduced from five rounds to three. Still this remained one of the biggest Muay Thai fights in recent years and the biggest challenge Rodtang has faced yet in ONE Championship. Both men wanted to win badly as another potential superfight waited in the wings with Japanese kickboxing star and recent ONE signee Takeru Segawa in the crowd to watch the bout.

The two fighters met in the center and traded leg kicks to open the fight. Rodtang slowly pressed forward as Superlek gave ground but landed the harder kicks. Rodtang tried to land big swinging punches but Superlek mostly leaned back out of the way and landed counter kicks. After one such counter Rodtang came back with a monster elbow that opened a gash on the taller fighter’s forehead. Blood stained his yellow hair and the doctor checked on him momentarily before the fight resumed. Superlek clinched up but that only allowed Rodtang to land two more short elbows. With his vision hindered it became easier for Rodtang to land his punches.

After a clear win for Rodtang in the first round he needed to do something big to get the fight back. He opened up more with combinations and forward movement to start the second round, giving him success early in the round. Rodtang had more trouble getting inside on his longer opponent, who did a better job avoiding damaging shots in the clinch. A big right elbow from Superlek as he came forward with a barrage dropped Rodtang with under a minute left in the round. He also landed a big knee as Rodtang fell to the ground. This knockdown made Rodtang angry and he came forward with a vengeance in the last twenty seconds of the round, but he still lost it 10-8.

The final round of this monumental fight began with the two fighters meeting in the center and running into a clinch, where Rodtang dumped Superlek over his hip onto the mat. After that they clinched many more times and both tried to land big elbows. Superlek began to breathe through his mouth, looking somewhat tired as Rodtang came forward at full power still. Rodtang dumped Superlek to the mat again halfway through the round. Superlek tried to clinch and land knees there at every opportunity while Rodtang tried to avoid the clinches and land his big punches at distance. The fight ended with Superlek landing a knee to the stomach while Rodtang swung back with punches.

The pair embraced on their knees in the center of the ring at the end before the judges decision was announced. There are no draws in ONE Championship, so despite the 10-8 for Superlek in round two, a winner had to be declared. Usually the tiebreaker in these situations has gone to whoever scores the knockdown, and that proved to be the case here as the judges awarded Superlek the decision.

In his post-fight interview Superlek apologized for his weight miss and declared his desire to fix his weight issues and not move up to bantamweight next. He was not able to receive a bonus at ONE Friday Fights 34 due to the weight miss.

Official Result: Superlek Kiatmoo9 def. Rodtang Jitmuangnon by Unanimous Decision

ONE Championship was bringing out the big guns for its latest trip to the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

ONE Friday Fights 34 was topped by a Muay Thai superfight, as flyweight champ Rodtang Jitmuangnon faced off with fellow Muay Thai star and kickboxing champ Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a catchweight super-fight.

While the term “super-fight” might be overused and outright abused in the combat sports realm, Rodtang and Superlek were very much two of the best Muay Thai fighters on the planet, so in this case, the label was apt.

The only downside, the bout was to have been for Rodtang’s flyweight title, until Superlek missed weight for the historic fight.

ONE Friday Fights 34 goes down Friday, September 22, 2023 with MMA, kickboxing, and Mauy Thai action in store for fight fans. Full results, and where available, a livestream of the action is available below. The action gets underway at 8:30AM ET.

Only three weeks after starching hot prospect Nabil Anane, the arguable pound-for-pound best nak muay in the world, Superlek Kiatmoo9, got back into the ring at Lumpinee Stadium, saving the ONE Fight Night 12 main event by stepping up on short notice.

The original main event, a light-heavyweight kickboxing title fight between champion Roman Kryklia and Francesco Xhaja, was canceled. Additionally, Tagir Khalilov’s opponent, Elias Mahmoudi, withdrew at late notice. So in stepped Superlek.

Unfortunately the ONE flyweight kickboxing champion missed weight for this Muay Thai bout, presumably due to having to make weight twice in three weeks. However the bout went on as scheduled and Superlek took on the former Muay Thai flyweight title challenger on Amazon Prime Video.

The fought started with a checked low kick from Superlek, who then landed a leg kick of his own and an elbow that threw Khalilov off-balance. Superlek ran forward and partially landed a flying knee against the ropes one minute in. Khalilov had trouble getting his offence off as the Thai just walked him down. A monstrous elbow staggered Khalilov halfway through round one but the clinch kept him on his feet. A large cut appeared on the forehead of Khalilov from a series of elbows. The Russian’s face quickly became masked in blood. When the first round ended he had still barely been able to touch Superlek.

Superlek picked up right where he left off when round two started. Khalilov got hurt in the clinch by a series of elbows and knees and was then dumped to the mat in the opening minute, which the referee called a knockdown to the surprise of the commentary. Khalilov protested had no choice but to accept the decision and try to make the best of the rest of the fight. On replay, after the fight, it was clear that it was in fact an elbow which had knocked Tagir down, and not just a dump. He continued to eat chopping elbows from Superlek and was almost entirely on the defensive.

As Superlek charged forward relentlessly, referee Olivier Coste must have seen something in the eyes of the retreating Khalilov because he stepped in while Khalilov was on his feet still. The Russian was intelligently defending and was not on the verge of going out, but he was not firing back offense of his own whatsoever. Fans will surely debate this stoppage for a while.

Superlek did not receive a bonus to the missed weight, despite the virtuoso performance. In his post-fight interview, through a translator, he expressed his desire to face off with Rodtang and Jonathan Haggerty in Muay Thai, rather than going back to defend his kickboxing belt.

Superlek Kiatmoo9 def. Tagir Khalilov by TKO (knees, punches, elbows) Round 2, 1:42

The pound-for-pound best nak muay in the world, Superlek Kiatmuu9, took on an interesting test in the co-main event of the the biggest ONE Friday Fights card as he took on 6’4″ phenom Nabil Anane in a flyweight bout.

Nabil’s incredible height for the weight class, giving him nine inches over Superlek, may make him the tallest fighter to ever weigh in at 135-lbs, at least in Muay Thai. At only 19 years old he would look to shock the world and take out one of the best fighters of the modern era, who also happens to be the current ONE flyweight kickboxing champ. Due to TV scheduling issues in Thailand the fight was moved to the last fight of the night, as a postlim after the main event, but still took place on ONE’s YouTube for most of the world.

Superlek immediately targeted Nabil’s long legs when the fight started. Nabil countered with kicks to the body when he was able to evade the leg kicks. Superlek tried to go forward and push the longer fighter back, where his reach would be a hindrance as the ropes would restrict his movement more. He had some success early and then seemed to do significant damage to Nabil’s legs just under two minutes into the bout. As Nabil retreated, Superlek landed an right straight to the body and his foe crumpled to the mat. Nabil then rolled over on his face and struggled to get up, but was not near gaining his feet as the ref waved the fight off at the count of eight.

Superlek once again demolished an outmatched opponent as he had Danial Williams before him. The elite of elite Thai lived up to his nickname of ‘The Kicking Machine’ by his excellent and intelligent use of leg kicks to take out the base of the tall, skill fighter. He was asked what’s next for him, as this fight was in Muay Thai but he also owns the kickboxing belt in the weight class in ONE. He answered that he wants to gain a Muay Thai belt in ONE Championship, specifically the one held by Jonathan Haggerty at bantamweight currently after the Brit won it off of the legendary Nong-O earlier in 2023.

To finish the night, Superlek got a $50,000 bonus from the promotion, different than the usual 350,000 Baht (about $10,000USD) bonuses usually given out on Friday Fights cards at Lumpinee.

Superlek Kiatmoo9, the ONE flyweight kickboxing champion and one of the pound-for-pound best strikers on the planet, was supposed to face fellow Thai star Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE Fight Night 8, but when the ONE flyweight Muay Thai champion pulled out last minute, Aussie Danial Williams stepped in to save the day.

The first round saw Superlek work his kicking from distance to continually do attrition to Williams. A moment of excitement came when Williams caught a kick and threw a punch which pushed the Thai to the mat. Still, Superlek chipped away at him all round.

The second round saw Superlek do more of the same, but he opened up more. He started to use jump knees and he hurt Danial with one about halfway through the round. The Australian was tough though, and would not go away, despite being on the back foot the whole time eating kicks. Williams also could not get into the range he wanted to be in to land strikes, Superlek’s defense and longer weapons were expert at keeping him safe.

Body kicks, teep kicks, step-in knees, leg kicks, head kicks, Superlek threw it all in round three. Halfway through the round a massive head kick from Superlek which landed the knee on the head of Williams, sending him to the mat. He got up, somehow, and was surprisingly stable on his feet, but could not withstand the barrage Superlek then sent his way; an step-in knee started it, then a pair of uppercuts, a left, and a right shut the lights off, putting Williams out cold.

Superlek went and bowed to his boss, Chatri Sityodtong, following the win and embraced his opponent when Danial had regained consciousness. He retained his spot as champion with an impressive performance, which at this point is what is expected from a champion of his caliber.

Still, the Rodtang fight looms large, and is the fight that everyone wants to be made, though Rodtang is booked for a fight in May. Indeed, Superlek said in his post-fight interview that in his next fight he would like to challenge Rodtang for his flyweight world title. To cap off the night, Dom Lau announced that Superlek would receive at $50,000 bonus for his near-flawless performance.

Official Result: Superlek Kiatmoo9 def. Danial Williams by KO (knee and punches), Round 3, 1:55

ONE Championship returned to Amazon’s Prime Video platform on Friday night (Saturday local time in Singapore) for ONE Fight Night 8, featuring Thailand’s Superlek taking on short-notice foe Danial Williams in a flyweight kickboxing title fight atop the card.

The event wasn’t originally supposed to end that way, however. Initially, the long awaited heavyweight title unification bout between champion Arjan Bhullar and interim champ Anatoly Malykhin was expected to headline the card. When that fell through, Superlek was then bumped up the main event against fellow Thai star Rodtang — who was in turn forced to withdraw due to injury, opening the door for Williams to step up.

On the MMA side of things, ONE Fight Night 8 brought with it the long-awaited match-up between Itsuki Hirata and Seo Hee Ham. Japan’s Hirata had failed a hydration test last year, leading to an earlier date with UFC alum Ham falling through.

For her part, Ham was undefeated since exiting the UFC in 2016 and returning to atomweight, though she had been forced to pull out of ONE’s atomweight grand prix, losing out on a title opportunity in the process.

The co-main event of ONE Fight Night 8 featured an atomweight Muay Thai unification bout between Allycia Rodrigues and Janet Todd.

ONE Fight Night 8 goes down Friday, March 24, 2023 (Mar. 25 locally) in Singapore, with the preliminary card kicking off at 7PM ET. Full results and a live stream of the early action can be found below.
