Per a press release from Brave CF, Ali Bagautinov has drawn a tough new opponent for BRAVE Combat Federation’s return to Russia this Saturday, November 6. The Russian hometown hero will face American standout Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella in the last semifinal clash of the prestigious BRAVE CF Flyweight World Title Tournament, which serves as the headliner of BRAVE CF 55 in Rostov-on-Don.”

Santella (23-7-2) replaces Jose “Shorty” Torres, who withdrew from the fight due to difficulties making weight prior to official weigh-ins. Santella was last in action against Torres at Brave 42 in the quarterfinals of the eight-man flyweight tournament; the pair fought to a draw. They were expected to rematch six months later, but the bout was scrapped due to Santella pulling out with an injury. Before his draw with Torres, Santella won three straight in CFFC.

Bagautiov (20-7) is riding a two-fight win streak since joining the promotion defeating Oleg Lichkovakha and, most recently Dustin Ortiz.

The winner of the semifinal showdown between Santella and Bagautiov will fight for the championship against the highly-touted Velimurad Alkhasov.

The BRAVE CF 55 Fight Card moves forward with nine fights and now looks like this:

“The golden standard for regional MMA” returns as CFFC 76: Santella vs. Barquero for the vacant flyweight title is live on Friday, June 14 live from Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

In the main event, a savvy veteran takes on a young prospect as Sean Santella faces Andre Barquero for the vacant flyweight title.

Santella, 34, has a record of 21-7-1, 1 NC and is a veteran of BRAVE CF, CFFC, PA Cage Fight, Ring of Combat and more. Santella, who trains out of the Miller Brothers and Nick Catone’s MMA & Fitness, is a former CFFC flyweight champion and bantamweight title-challenger. However, Santella never lost the title inside the cage as when he signed a deal with BRAVE CF, he relinquished the flyweight title. Under a year from his debut with BRAVE CF, BRAVE have allowed him to fight elsewhere and outside of the promotion. In his last ten fights, Santella has gone 8-2, most recently defeating former UFC fighter Naoki Inoue by decision at CFFC 72. Santella has finished 67% of his victories, all by submission.

Barquero, 23, has gone 6-1 in his MMA career so far with six-straight wins since his debut back in 2015. He holds wins over Pancrase veteran Tatsuya Watanabe and Titan FC competitor Wascar Cruz. In his CFFC debut, Barquero edged Tommy Espinosa to win by majority decision at CFFC 72.

The rest of the main card includes former CES champion Jeremiah Wells in a welterweight bout against Mumia Abu Dey Ali. Also, flyweight prospect Erin Blanchfield returns against Gabriella Guflin.

The main card will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.

Tidbit: Cage Fury Fighting Championships are four rounds, with an extra round if the score is even.
