After being finished by Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC 314 in Miami on April 12, “The Reaper” is now facing felony charges stemming from an alleged home invasion.

As first reported by Fight Swipe, 29-year old Dumas, who has had numerous previous encounters with the law, has been charged with three felonies in Escambia County, Florida: felony home invasion robbery without a firearm, felony possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and felony possession of a controlled substance. Added to those are misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor drug equipment possession and or use charges.

Cageside Press verified the charges via an Escambia County records search. Dumas is listed as defendant in over 20 cases, historically, in that county alone, although those include traffic violations.

Dumas was taken into custody on Monday, April 28 with a pretrial hearing scheduled for May 6, per court records. He’s being represented by attorney Gregory Whibbs.

Dumas won his way into the UFC in 2022 via a win on Dana White’s Contender Series, and made his promotional debut the following year. He’s 3-3 in the promotion to date, and was coming off a win against Denis Tiuliulin prior to UFC 314 in Miami earlier this month.

Cageside Press has requested a copy of Dumas’ arrest record from the Escambia County Sheriff’s office.

The hits to UFC Saudi Arabia just keep on coming, with SD Dumas (Sedriques Dumas) announcing on Monday that he had been forced off of the card.

Dumas had been expected to face Denis Tiuliulin at the event, which is expected to air its main card on U.S. broadcast network ABC. Dumas was replacing Abu Azaitar in the fight.

“Sorry to my fans and teams. The fight has been postponed because of VA and flight reasons,” Dumas wrote on Twitter/X, addressing the matter. “Stay tuned. We should have a soon date available soon. Hope we can ride it back.”

Dumas (9-2) was looking to bounce back from a loss against Nursulton Ruziboev in the bout. He’s 2-2 under the UFC banner since picking up a victory on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022.

Tiuliulin (11-9) has lost three straight. It’s unclear whether the promotion will seek a replacement opponent for the middleweight fight.

After originally being scheduled to face off this past March, SD Dumas and Abu Azaitar have a new date.

The middleweight pair are expected to compete as part of UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi this October, in a fight that finds Dumas (8-1) coming off a win, and Azaitar (14-3-1) returning to action for the first time since 2021.

Dumas confirmed the match-up on social media following an initial report by Alex Behunin.

After Azaitar pulled out of their initial booking, Contender Series vet Dumas went on to lose via submission to Josh Fremd back in March. He bounced back in his next fight, however, winning a unanimous decision over Cody Brundage at UFC on ABC 5 in June.

Azaitar, meanwhile, last competed March of 2021, losing to Canadian Marc-Andre Barriault. Prior to that, “Captain Morocco” picked up a win in his promotional debut against Vitor Miranda. That fight, however, came in 2018, meaning Azaitar has fought just twice in the past five years.

Part of that stems from a seven month USADA suspension in 2021. Part of that, as unlikely as it seems, is the UFC fighter (and his brother Ottman)’s increasing influence as members of the inner circle of the Moroccan king. A relationship that has reportedly led to turmoil and widening, divided political factions inside the kingdom situated on the Mediterranean sea.

UFC 294 takes place October 24, 2023 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The event is expected to be headlined by an interim title fight/rematch between lightweight champ Islam Makhachev and former title-holder Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira.

The following match-ups have been reported for the card to date.

Islam Makhachev (c) vs. Charles Oliveira — for the UFC lightweight championship

Paulo Costa vs. Khamzat Chimaev

Nassourdine Imavov vs. Ikram Aliskerov

Muhammad Mokaev vs. Tim Elliott

Magomed Ankalaev vs. Johnny Walker

Abu Azaitar vs. SD Dumas

Middleweights Cody Brundage and Sedrigues Dumas faced off as the opening bout of UFC Jacksonville, with Dumas looking for his first UFC win.

The bout started with the weakness from Dumas rearing its head as he was taken down right away, however Brundage jumped for a guillotine and ended up on the bottom. He ate some shots and wrestled up on a single leg. Then, he inexplicably did so again. Dumas got and stayed on top for a few minutes but then Brundage was able to get a reversal and end up on top. However, he once again chose to jump guillotine when he got close to losing the position from Dumas’ reversal and stand-up attempts. Dumas got on top and did some damage before the bell.

The second round saw them mostly stare at each other on the feet for a minute until Brundage shot another takedown. Dumas displayed great takedown defense this time and spun to the back after a sprawl. He tried to get both hooks in but could only keep one and do some damage from behind while threatening grips. Brundage tried to scramble up but began to look fatigued as he was forced back down. Dumas stayed on top and did consistent damage for most of the rest of the round.

Between rounds, Brundage’s corner implored him to wake up and get going, doing what they could to motivate their fighter.

The final round saw them Cody try a spinning heel kick which did not land. Dumas went to some leg kicks but Brundage landed a big right hand. Dumas threw a front kick at which point Brundage shot into once again strong takedown defense from his foe. Brundage tried another guillotine soon after, which only ended with him on his back in full guard. Dumas landed short shots until the end of the round, save for the interruption of an armbar attempt from Brundage.

Brundage and Dumas went the distance and there were no doubts that Sedriques Dumas would get his first UFC win. The judges did not surprise him, awarding the unanimous decision victory with two judges giving him every round while the other gave him two of the three.

Official Result: Sedriques Dumas def. Cody Brundage by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

One of a sprinkling of debuting fighters at UFC Las Vegas on Saturday night was Sedriques Dumas, paired up with LFA veteran Josh Fremd.

Middleweight “SD” Dumas had won his way into the promotion on Dana White’s Contender Series last year, while Fremd was in search of his first win inside the octagon after starting his UFC run 0-2.

No doubt knowing what an 0-3 start in the promotion could mean, Fremd had all the motivation he needed for this one.

In round one Dumas was landing some leg kicks and a left hand that got the attention of Fremd. Fremd was doing a good job landing some leg kicks as well. Fremd countered Dumas coming in, hurting him, and a takedown from Fremd came easy. Dumas was having success prior to that but got caught slipping. Dumas did get back to his feet and almost got caught in a guillotine on the way up. A right hand got through clean for Fremd and then Dumas was the one going for a takedown. Fremd defended and ended the round with some knees in the clinch.

In round two, both fighters were active with their output mixing it up. Fremd appeared to hurt Dumas with a right hand and then landed a nice hip toss grounding his opponent. Dumas did a nice job getting his hips on the outside to scramble. He made the mistake of trying to jump on the back and fell off. Fremd locked in a guillotine, and that sealed the deal. It didn’t look tight at first but soon enough Dumas tapped.

Middleweight Dumas (7-0) has had a quick rise since turning pro in 2020, securing all seven of his wins since the onset of COVID-19. Having earned a UFC deal on DWCS this past August, he’ll now face Abu Azaitar (14-3-1) at a UFC event on March 11, 2023.

MMA Fighting was first to report the booking, with Dumas subsequently confirming the news on social media.

Prior to turning pro, Dumas had a lengthy amateur career including stops in Island Fights and CFFC. His Contender Series outing saw “The Reaper” submit Matěj Peňáz with a guillotine choke just 47 seconds into their fight.

Azaitar last competed in March of 2021, losing to Marc-Andre Barriault after succumbing to strikes in the third round at UFC 260.

Despite joining the promotion in 2018, Azaitar has fought for the UFC just twice. At least in part, his inactivity can be explained by a USADA suspension after “Captain Morocco” tested positive for banned substances (mainly tamoxifen) in a total of four drug tests starting in August of 2020. After providing evidence that the drug had been prescribed by a doctor, Azaitar saw his suspension reduced to just seven months.

The UFC’s March 11, 2022 event does not yet have a venue, location, or broadcast plan announced. The following match-ups have been reported for the Fight Night card:

Anthony Smith vs. Jamahal Hill

Tyson Nam vs. Bruno Gustavo da Silva

Abu Azaitar vs. Sedriques Dumas

Week six of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6 arrived on Tuesday night, and was one of the deepest shows yet in terms of talent.

In fact, depth-wise, it may have been the deepest DWCS show ever. CFFC featherweight champ Blake Bilder faced TriStar Gym standout Alex Morgan, while Polish lightweight prospect Mateusz Rebecki was up against Brazil’s Rodrigo Lidio. Matej Penaz, meanwhile, took on SD Dumas, and Japan’s Yusaku Kinoshita, a former RIZIN Fighting Federation athlete, was up against Jose Henrique Souza.

On the ladies’ side, a very evenly matched women’s strawweight fight found Viktoriya Dudakova up against Maria Silva.

Any or all of the winners had the potential to make an impact in the UFC, some quicker than others. But after another five UFC contracts had been dished out last week, expectations were certainly high for week six.

Dana White’s Contender Series 52 goes down Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Full results from the event, which airs on UFC Fight Pass, can be found below.

Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6, Week 6 Results

Welterweight: Yusaku Kinoshita def. José Souza via R3 :43 TKO
Middleweight: Sedriques Dumas def. Matěj Peňáz via R1 :47 Submission (Guillotine)
Lightweight: Mateusz Rębecki def. Rodrigo Lídio via R1 3:05 Submission (RNC)
Women’s Strawweight: Viktoriya Dudakova def. Maria Silva via Unanimous Decision (29-28×3)
Featherweight: Blake Bilder def. Alexander Morgan via R1 3:15 Submission (RNC)

Week 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6 features CFFC featherweight champ Blake Bilder taking on TriStar’s Alex Morgan, while Japan’s Yusaku Kinoshita welcomes Jose Henrique Souza to the welterweight division. But there’s a lot more to this DWCS installment.

For RIZIN fans, Kinoshita is best known for being disqualified while delivering head stomps at RIZIN Trigger 1st. Not because of the stomps, but because he held the cage while delivering them. Souza was making the drop from middleweight, and would have a considerable advantage in length.

That’s just the tip of the ice berg. Blake Bilder fights TriStar’s Alex Morgan. A top Polish prospect appears. A promising women’s strawweight fight is also anticipated. Week 6 of DWCS Season 6 could very well be the strongest episode, talent-wise, of the Contender Series to date. Not just this season, but in the show’s history.

How will things play out in the cage? Our breakdown and predictions are set for the latest DWCS episode — read on!

Pros and Cons

Yusaku Kinoshita

Pros

Good ground and pound

Submission threat

Good shot placement

Dangerous counter striker

Heavy hands

Good use of feints

Explosive

Good kicks

Cons

Questionable TDD

Gives up his back

Jose Henrique

Pros

Good knees

Tough

Good elbows

Good teep kick

Good straight right

Cons

Plodding footwork

No head movement

Prediction: I wasn’t aware of Kinoshita prior to this fight but it’s hard not to be impressed.

Henrique is interesting considering he’s a six-foot-five middleweight. For someone his size, it is disappointing to see him be more of a clinch fighter. He does have decent distance management but not like he should.

Henrique was in a lot of danger in his last fight getting socked around in round two. He showed incredible toughness but he’s not going to take those shots against Kinoshita and survive.

Outside of the length, Kinoshita is much better on the mat. Henrique is the march larger guy but Kinoshita is the type to walk him down and land power shots. I’m not impressed with Henrique and I believe Kinoshita has this covered everywhere and walks through Henrique.

The former iKON Fighting Federation, now iKON FC under the ownership of Jorge Masvidal, returned to action in Miami on Friday night with iKON FC 2: Highbaugh vs. Dumas.

In a big test for middleweight prospect SD Dumas, he was paired up with Aaron Highbaugh — who was looking to bounce back from a loss to UFC vet Jared Gooden back in January.

Elsewhere on the card, a couple of names recognizable to UFC fans: Hunter Azure was fighting for the first time since his release from the promotion. Justin Scoggins, meanwhile, had taken his last couple of fights for RIZIN in Japan, but had not fought since 2019.

Also fighting Friday, bare-knuckle boxing vet Uly Diaz, holder of the fastest stoppage in BKFC history. Diaz was fighting for the second time in a matter of weeks, after scoring a submission victory at Titan FC 74 earlier this month.

Jorge Masvidal’s iKON FC 2 takes place this Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Miami Airport Convention Center in Miami, Florida. The cards streams live on UFC Fight Pass started at 8PM ET. Full results can be found below.

With the UFC setting up shop at the O2 Arena in London this Saturday, the U.K.’s biggest regional show, Cage Warriors, is also back in town — with a number of the region’s top MMA prospects. London’s calling the MMA faithful this week it seems. That and more on this installment of the Weekly MMA Prospect report.

CFFC 106 | US | Thursday

Lightweight, Paris Artis (5-0)

Artis is a highlight-reel finisher holding a few dramatic finishes. He comes out with a high guard chopping with heavy leg kicks and throwing check hooks. Artis has huge power in his hands and kicks with one-shot knockout power. Even on the mat his jiu-jitsu is decent with good scrambling ability and a slick submission attack. I’m not too sold on him but he’s someone you tune in to watch when he’s fighting. Artis fights champ Blake Smith (6-2) for the title.

Cage Warriors 134 | UK | Friday

Featherweight, James Hendin (6-1)

Hendin is a super impressive young man out of England. Hendin is a wrestler who will grind out hard-fought decision wins. He’s always in your face throwing low calf kicks, short powerful punches, and pressing opponents against the cage. Hendin has good wrestling, especially with a beautiful hip-toss he’s hit many times in his career. Hendin has one submission but it’s more of his smothering active ground and pound. Hendin has pressure, technique, and a deep gas tank. He fights Jordan Vucenic (8-1).

Featherweight, Jordan Vucenic (8-1)

Vucenic is mainly a wrestler. He has heavy leg kicks plus good forward pressure, but everything he does on the feet is to get to the takedown. Along with good wrestling, Vucenic has really good top control and really nice fluidity as well. His work rate is impressive with a deep gas tank. Still needs some work on the feet but is scrappy. He defends his title against James Hendin (6-1).

Lightweight, George Hardwick (8-1)

No matter where the fight takes Hardwick he’s going to be comfortable. He’s all about volume on the feet throwing slick combinations to the body and head. Surgical on the inside with his hands and elbows in the clinch he will chop the legs at distance. Hardwick can wrestle as well. He can get takedowns on the legs and from the upper body. His jiu-jitsu is slick. He smoothly takes the back and right away locks in the body triangle. As a pro he’s really good at finding the neck of his opponent. Hardwick fights Lukasz Kopera (10-6).

Middleweight, Will Currie (6-2)

Currie has only lost to one person and it was twice to Christian Leroy Duncan. He is primarily a grappler with a submission base. As a pro, he’s finished with an RNC, arm-bar, americana, keylock, triangle and an arm-triangle. Wrestling-wise he has good timing on his entries and has a strong body lock. Currie has been very impressive on the mat with that submission base, aggression, and smooth transitions. Only being 23, Currie has a bright future. He fights Patrick Vallee (12-12-2).

Flyweight, Lone’er Kavanagh (2-0)

Kavanagh is a very skilled and intriguing young man. Where he’s best at is unequivocally on the feet. He’s light on his feet, doing a lot of bouncing around. Kavanagh is excessively fast specifically with his movement, hands, and his legs. The Englishman throws a nice lead uppercut, is a well-executed counter striker, and has a good one-two. Kavanagh fights behind his kicks, setting the tone of his fights that way. He’s such a flashy guy and he doesn’t telegraph his strikes at all. Kavanagh is a true 125-er that brings speed, athleticism, explosiveness, and a recurrent rapid pace. He fights Ryan Morgan (1-0).

Middleweight, SD Dumas (5-0)

The first thing you notice when watching Dumas is how often and quickly he lets his kickboxing set the pace. He loves to chop away at the legs and then go high – sometimes to the opposite side. All his work he does with his legs opens up his striking even more. Dumas has really good distance management on the feet, with of course his kicks but his striking as well. He has a stiff jab and strikes really well long, keeping guys at the end of his punches. He fights very patiently picking his spots and it’s a big reason why he can fight as well as he can later in fights. Here is an extensive piece I did on Dumas. He fights Aaron Highbaugh (9-5).

PFL Challenger Series 5 | US | Friday

Lightweight, Bruno Miranda (13-3)

Miranda has extensive experience in Muay Thai and it’s shown throughout his MMA career. You will see Miranda attack with leg kicks early and often throughout his fights. The Brazilian is a banger who will come out throwing bombs the entire bout. He is wild though and that’s resulted in him getting tagged, but he’s tough and his will breaks opponents. Miranda is a striker/kickboxer by trade but he has some decent wrestling to fall back on. he fights Carson Frei (9-4).

Eternal MMA 64 | Australia | Saturday

Lightweight, Josh Kuhne (3-0)

It’s hard to get a good read on Kuhne because his fights end so quickly. The storm he brings right out of the gate is so heavy his opponents so far couldn’t withstand it. Kunhe has massive power in both his hands and knees. So much is unknown about him but to put on a show is what he’s all about. There is a reason they call him Kamikaze. Kuhne fights Blake Donnelly (5-1).
