ROAD FC 52 saw the crowning of the million dollar lightweight tournament winner, as Mansour Barnaoui won it all — and claimed a shot at the lightweight champion.

South Korea’s ROAD FC was in action over the weekend, with the finale of their million dollar lightweight tournament topping the ROAD FC 52 card. The co-main event, meanwhile, saw the promotion’s bantamweight title awarded.

It was Mansour Barnaoui who took home the big money, however. Against Shamil Zavurov, Barnaoui appeared to have his hands full, as the two went at it early. Through two rounds, Zavurov was able to take his opponent down, though Barnaoui frequently reversed.

However, come the third, Barnaoui launched a jumping knee, and put Zavurov out! That punched Barnaoui’s ticket to a fight against ROAD FC Lightweight Champion Kwon A-Sol. The bout will take place on May 18, but for now, Barnaoui can celebrate winning the million dollar tournament.

The co-main event had Kim Min-Woo in a third fight against rival Moon Jea-Hoon. Kim did not disappoint, submitting Moon via a first round triangle to claim bantamweight gold.

The ROAD FC 52 card opened with a preliminary event known as Young Guns 41. That card within a card saw a number of talented prospects go at it, with Yang Hae-Jun defeating Lim Dong-Hwan in the featured fight, via an Americana.

A superman punch and moonsault off the cage were just some of the highlights Michel Pereira brought to ROAD FC 52 on Saturday.

ROAD FC 52 took place in South Korea over the weekend, and while a million dollars was on the line in the main event, it was main card opener Michel Pereira everyone was talking about following the show. Why? Because Pereira, fresh off watching Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, decided he was going to bend reality just a little, and pull off some spectacular aerobatics in the cage. Or maybe he was just inspired by vintage Anthony Pettis.

Either way, the end result was this:

https://twitter.com/MikeLovesTacosX/status/1099749839775154176

Yes, that was a standing back flip, superman punch off the cage, and a moonsault off the cage, all in a live MMA fight. Needless to say, the majors are going to be sniffing around Pereira soon if they aren’t already.

Oh, and that million dollar lightweight tournament? Mansour Barnaoui picked up the third round finish to win it all.

Next month’s ROAD FC 52 has added a bantamweight title fight between Kim Min-Woo and Moon Je-Hoon, two former title challengers.

South Korea’s ROAD FC continues to assemble next month’s ROAD FC 52 event in Seoul. On Monday, the promotion announced via press release that a bantamweight title fight had been added to the card. In that, Kim Min-Woo, a former bantamweight title challenger in the organization, will take on Moon Je-Hoon for the vacant title.

Min-Woo (8-2) actually lost a championship fight to countryman Kim Soo-Chul, when the title was up for grabs back in 2017 at ROAD FC 38. He and Moon Je-Hoon have met twice before, with each taking one fight a piece. That makes their title fight next month a rubber match, with the gold adding to the stakes. Je-Hoon (11-12), competing for over a decade, is a Taekwondo specialist who has lost two straight. He last competed for RIZIN in December, where he lost a unanimous decision against Kai Asakura.

Also added to the ROAD FC 52 card is Jang Ik-Hwan (6-2) vs. Jang Dae-Young (5-2). The bantamweight pairing will see Muay Thai specialist Ik-Hwan looking to bounce back from the first loss of his career, against Heili Alateng. Earlier in his run as a pro, Ik-Hwan suffered his only other defeat against current UFC prospect Kai Kara-France.

The ROAD FC 52 card to date is as follows:

ROAD FC $1 Million Lightweight Tournament Final Match: Shamil Zavurov vs Mansour Barnaoui

Bantamweight Championship: Kim Min-Woo vs Moon Je-Hoon

80kg Catchweight Match: Kim Seung-Yeon vs Ki No-Joo

Lightweight Match: Bruno Miranda vs Hong Young-Ki

Bantamweight Match: Jang Ik-Hwan vs Jang Dae-Young

ROAD FC 52 takes place Saturday, February 23 at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea.

A handful of fights for the upcoming ROAD FC 52 were announced by the South Korean promotion on Monday. In a press release, the promotion unveiled that a pair of reality TV stars would join the card, which will be topped by the previously announced Million Dollar lightweight tournament finals. The event takes place February 23 at the Jangchung Arena in Seoul, South Korea.

In the main event, tournament finalists Shamil Zavurov (35-5-1) and Mansoul Barnaoui (17-4) face off with a title shot against lightweight champion Kwon A-Sol awaiting the winner. Zavurov, who holds the Octagon FS lightweight championship, will have the edge in experience. That said, Barnaoui has found plenty of success in his career, and is a former M-1 and BAMMA champ.

All four of Barnaoui’s fights during the tournament ended via submission.

The battle of reality TV stars announced Monday by ROAD FC sees “Crying Fist” winner Kim Seung-Yeon (3-2) face off against “Fearless Guys” runner up Ki No-Joo (2-1). Crying Fist, which launched in 2011 on Korean TV channel XTM, plays out as a TUF style competition, with competitors training under a coach and celebrity mentor.

A similar concept, Fearless Guys offered a spot on the ROAD FC roster to winners.

Also added to the card, a lightweight scrap between Bruno Miranda and Hong Young-Ki.
