Women’s strawweight Ravena Oliveira came in a half-pound heavy at the scales ahead of UFC London, where she faced England’s own Shanelle Dyer in the card-opener at the O2 Arena on Saturday.

Dyer, a former PFL fighter, was making her promotional debut after a Contender Series loss, where she was still awarded a contract regardless. Coming off her first career loss, Dyer hoped for an impressive showing in her home country.

Round 1 – Oliveira came out aggressive, rushing in with big strikes and sprinting into takedown attempts. Dyer stayed calm and shifted out of the way, looking to use her technical striking on the outside. Oliveira threw a bunch of big overhands at range early, but didn’t press the action with combinations. Dyer started to land some nice jabs and leg kicks as she got the timing of Oliveira down. A nice teep to the face landed for Dyer, who was doing very well evading all of Oliveira’s spamming overhands. A clinch situation led to Dyer landing some nice knees and elbows before Oliveira broke away.

Round 2 – Oliveira came out aggressive again, being punished by a big leg kick before resetting and blitzing again. The next blitz saw a big 4 punch combination, where she backed Dyer against the cage in a bad spot. Dyer worked out, getting back to range and landing a massive right hand that rocked Oliveira. She followed with a head kick, then grabbed Oliveira in the clinch and landed some devastating knees. After tossing Oliveira to the mat, Dyer followed up with some big ground and pound, forcing the ref to pull her off the wounded Oliveira as the crowd erupted.

Dyer secures a big win in her UFC debut while showing why the UFC signed her after a loss on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Official Result: Shanelle Dyer def. Ravena Oliveira by TKO (knees and punches), Round 2, 1:17

The DWCS alum had won her UFC debut prior to that, defeating Talita Alencar in a rematch of their Contender Series bout.

Oliveira (7-2-1) had been sidelined since dropping her UFC debut to Tainara Lisboa in 2023. She was scheduled to return at UFC 304 against Shauna Bannon but was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury. Now, she steps back into the octagon eager to make up for lost time.

Round 1 – Luciano opened the fight with forward pressure, attacking from range with kicks while Oliveira retreated toward the fence. Feeling the cage at her back, Oliveira fired off a flurry to create space, but she began reaching on her strikes and overextending without landing cleanly.

Just past the three-minute mark, Oliveira connected with a sharp 1-2, her best moment of the round so far, as Luciano continued working the body with side kicks. Oliveira refused to stay in close, instead throwing quick combinations to score points in front of the judges.

As Oliveira grew more comfortable offensively, Luciano stayed relentless with her pressure, walking her down and forcing more exchanges along the fence. Luciano landed a clean right hook with just over a minute remaining, prompting Oliveira to disengage and reset.

Luciano attempted a flying knee in the closing seconds, and the round ended with her landing a left hook as the horn sounded.

Round 2 – Luciano resumed her forward pressure early in round two, while Oliveira confidently relied on her 1-2 combinations. The pace remained steady until Luciano closed the distance, securing a clinch and pressing Oliveira against the fence.

Oliveira defended well, striking her way out of the position and landing a sharp elbow on the break. Back in the center, she continued to throw combinations, but Luciano’s defense held strong, slipping and blocking the majority of the shots.

At the two-minute mark, Luciano flashed an axe kick and began ramping up her output, becoming increasingly aggressive with her combinations. Oliveira was reduced to single strikes while Luciano mixed her attacks fluidly and in volume.

In the final minute, Oliveira looked to fire back, but Luciano timed her perfectly and hit a powerful blast-double takedown, finishing the round with ground strikes to cap off a strong frame.

Round 3 – Sensing she may have been behind on the scorecards, Oliveira came out more aggressively in the third, lunging forward with a big shot — but Luciano timed it perfectly and secured another takedown. From top position, Luciano stood briefly and unloaded heavy punches before Oliveira scrambled back to her feet.

Luciano immediately closed the distance again, locked up the body, and scored a second takedown. Settling into half guard, she continued to land damaging strikes from the top.

A clean shot visibly hurt Oliveira, allowing Luciano to take her back and lock in a rear-naked choke. Oliveira had no choice but to tap.

Stephanie Luciano returns to the win column with an impressive submission finish on Canadian soil.

Tainara Lisboa got to welcome Ravena Oliveira to the octagon on Saturday at UFC Vegas 81, in an all-Brazilian women’s bantamweight match-up. One of two on the card, in fact.

In a division low on numbers, reinforcements were a welcome sign. Ravena joined the promotion on a seven-fight win streak, while Lisboa was looking for win number two under the UFC banner.

Lisboa took the center cage to start the fight and landed two big right hands. She was waiting for Oliveira to throw and then go for it. She did just that making Oliveira pay with a barrage of shots. Oliveira didn’t slow Lisboa down holding her against the cage. Oliveira was working hard to get the takedown going for the trips. Lisboa defended well until she wasn’t and Oliveira got the takedown. It wasn’t for long though as Lisboa got back up and got a trip takedown of her own. Unlike Oliveira, Lisboa was able to solidify a top position and land ground and pound. That’s where the round ended with Lisboa on top landing short strikes.

Right when round two started Lisboa timed a really nice takedown completed with ease. She methodically moved into the mount as Oliveira looked lost completely. She was able to get full guard back but was letting Lisboa ride out on top. Lisboa wasn’t doing much on top but she was controlling the fight. Oliveira did go for an armbar that missed but was able to get back to her feet. She was never able to escape the clinch and that’s where the round ended.

In the final round Oliveira was very much in need of a finish. She clearly knew that as she came out aggressive. She did land some good punches but went right into the clinch. Lisboa landed a beautiful knee in the clinch before a failed takedown attempt. Lisboa was tired as she tried another takedown but didn’t get it. She tried a whizzer but Oliveira scrambled and landed on top. Lisboa quickly moved into side control in search of a finish. Lisboa was making a lot of mistakes giving Oliveira openings. Oliveira let Lisboa back up for some reason with thirty seconds left. Lisboa got another takedown before the end of the fight but they ended it swinging it out to the final bell.

All three judges sided with Tainara Lisboa, two rounds to one over Ravena Oliveira.

Official Result: Tainara Lisboa def Ravena Oliveira by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
