The card, streaming live on Prime Video, was headlined by a rematch between two-sport champ Prajanchai PK Saenchai and former strawweight kickboxing titleholder Jonathan Di Bella. While Saenchai had won the pair’s first encounter, Canadian-Italian Di Bella had picked up an interim kickboxing title since, making Friday’s clash a title unification bout.

In the co-main event, on the MMA side of things, a pair of former champions faced off. Aung La N Sang had claimed two titles under the ONE banner, and back when the promotion had a greater focus on MMA, was one of the company’s biggest stars. Zebaztian Kadestam was a former welterweight champion, who had been in the cage with some of the best, including Ben Askren.

On the MMA side of things, the card lost one fight at Thursday’s weigh-in. Ibragim Dauev missed weight by a wide margin for his bantamweight fight with Jeremy Pacatiw, coming in 7.25lbs over. That’s with ONE’s generous weight rules, which defines bantamweight as 135-145lbs. With Dauev at 152.25 pounds, it was little shock to see Pacatiw decline the fight.

After over two years on the sidelines, multiple fights falling through, and protracted negotiations, ONE heavyweight champ Arjan Bhullar finally made his return, paired up with interim champ (not to mention light heavyweight champion) Anatoly Malykhin.

Curiously enough and likely due to the card taking place at the famed Thai boxing stadium, Bhullar vs. Malykhin was not set as the main, or even co-main event of the evening. Instead, the long awaited title fight was placed fourth from the finish, with three Muay Thai match-ups taking precedence, including the main event.

That fight had Prajanchai PK Saenchai and Sam-A Gaiyanghadao meeting for the second time, with an interim strawweight championship on the line.

In terms of MMA action, the card had taken a hit earlier in the week, with the loss of Marcus Buchecha vs. Hugo Cunha. That left part of the lead card, including Alyse Anderson vs. Asha Roka, holding the fort in terms of mixed martial arts.

In single-discipline action, however, ONE 157 was stacked. Petchmorakot Petchyindee put his featherweight Muay Thai title on the line in the main event, while Prajanchai PK.Saenchai did the same in the co-feature.

Having fallen short in a quest for MMA gold, meanwhile, Garry Tonon returned to submission grappling, taking on Tye Ruotolo. Japanese legend Shinya Aoki, fresh off his own loss to Yoshihiro Akiyama, also stepping into the grappling realm, taking on Tye’s brother Kade Ruotolo.

The flyweight Muay Thai grand prix, featuring Rodtang, Jonathan Haggerty, Superlek, and more also kicked off on Friday at ONE 157.
