Over 58,000 fans would be in attendance for the event, which features two title fights and a “King of Germany” battle between Christian Eckerlin and Christian Jungwirth. The card also placed Oktagon, one of the fastest growing promotions in Europe, in exclusive company in the 50K club. In MMA history, only PRIDE, the UFC, KSW, and K-1 (for their Dynamite cards featuring both kickboxing and mixed martial arts) had held events with 50,000 fans or more.

The main event of the card at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic pitted middleweight champ Patrik Kincl against Karlos Vemola, in a grudge match between former friends (depending on who you ask, at least).

Oktagon MMA middleweight champ Patrik Kincl took all of a week off to spend with family following a big win at Oktagon 35 last month. After that, it was back to the gym, with the potential of a big fight, and big rematch, down the road.

“I had just one week off, and now I’m back in training. Just the starting phase— a little bit of cardio, weight lifting, and some drills,” Kincl (26-10, 1NC) told Cageside Press in a recent interview. “Just easy stuff for the next training camp.”

Kinck in undeniably happy with his result against Alex Lohore — “Honestly I’m very happy because I stuck to the game plan. I used some new things from training camp, so I’m so happy about it.” He’s also looking ahead to a much-anticipated rematch with Karlos Vemola.

“Yes for sure. I’m waiting for [the rematch] almost four or five years,” Kincl admitted. “It was the main reason why I signed up with Oktagon.”

Kincl and fellow Czech fighter Vemola first met in 2018, with Vemola claiming a unanimous decision win. Since then, Kincl has claimed middleweight gold in Oktagon, and Vemola the light heavyweight belt.

While there has been some talk of the rematch coming at the end of December, nothing had been set in stone when we spoke with Kincl. “It’s up to Oktagon to announce this fight, but I think I can be ready for December, for sure,” he stated. “I have just some little problems with my arm from the fight, but I think it’s nothing serious, so I think I’ll be back in one or two weeks in a full training camp. So I can make it.”

Without disclosing the malady, Kincl said he didn’t believe it was serious, but it also hadn’t been getting better, so a trip to the doctor was required. If it does turn out to be just a minor delay, Kincl is looking forward to defending his title. There will be no move up to meet Vermula at light heavyweight, he added. “It has to been in middleweight,” Kincl declared.

While Kincl has a healthy respect for his rival, it’s clear he doesn’t see Vemola as having progressed much over the years.

“In my opinion, zero. He has the same game plan, the same techniques,” Kincl replied when asked about how much Vemola had developed. “He’s good in his game, actually he’s great in his game. But nothing has improved since our first fight, and I think I have a lot of feedback from the first fight. So for sure my game plan will be a little bit different.”

Conversely, Kincl himself believes that he himself has grown quite a bit as a fighter.

“I think I changed my style a little bit, improved some ground game and some wrestling, and also stand-up game. I think I’m not completely a different fighter, but I’m different in some ways for sure.”

The need for revenge has been nagging at him for a while, Kincl admitted. In fact, the rematch matters more to him more than the title.

“Definitely it bothered me. In the first fight, I got an eye poke in the second round, and I couldn’t show how good I am as a fighter. It bothered me the most,” Kincl explained. “The rematch is big motivation for me. I don’t care about the belt, about the fame. Most important for me is the rematch, and to show my skills in the octagon.”

Poland’s KSW was in action Saturday, with a welterweight title fight topping the KSW 63 card.

In the main event, 170lb champ Roberto Soldic, arguably one of the top welterweights outside the major international promotions, was looking to make the second defense of his title. Opposite him, Patrik Kincl, a Czech fighter heading into the bout on the strength of a five-fight win streak. Soldic actually found himself on a five-fight win streak as well, having competed in a number of non-title fights, plus a successful move to middleweight in a one-off match-up.

The co-main event, meanwhile, featured Olympian Damian Janikowski taking on Pawel Pawlak. Pawlak, a former UFeC athlete, had won three straight, and was making his debut for KSW. Janikowski had won two straight, and was getting a definite step up in competition on Saturday.

KSW 63, going down in Warsaw, Poland on Saturday, September 4, 2021, airs live via KSWtv.com — full results from the event can be found below.

The full card for KSW 63, the next event from Polish promotion Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki, has been announced.

KSW officials announced the full line-up for the September 4 event in a press release Wednesday. The card, which will stream online via KSWTV.com, will take place in Warsaw, Poland, and feature a welterweight title fight as its main event. That fight will see champ Roberto Soldic put his title on the line against Patrik Kincl.

The co-main event, meanwhile, will feature Olympian Damian Janikowski taking on Pawel Pawlak. The Bronze medal winner at the 2012 Olympics in London last competed in March, defeating Jason Radcliffe by TKO.

Also on the KSW 63 card, a heavyweight showdown will see Michal Andryszak and Darko Stosic collide. Andryszak is a longtime veteran of the promotion who previously faced current heavyweight champ Phil De Fries with the title on the line. Stosic, a former UFC fighter, has won two straight since landing in KSW — and a third win will almost certainly have him knocking at the door of a title shot.

The full card for September’s KSW 63 event, as announced, can be found below.

While it doesn’t have a date or location announced, September’s KSW 63 card does have a main event.

On Saturday, promotion officials announced that welterweight champion Roberto Soldic would step into the cage for the first time in 2021. After taking a fight at middleweight last year, Soldic (18-3) is set to defend his title against top contender Patrik Kincl (24-9, 1NC).

One of the most successful mixed martial artists of Croatian descent, Soldic has won gold in numerous organizations, including SBC, SMMAC, Final Fight Championship, Superior FC, and KSW. Despite over twenty pro fights to his name, the Dusseldorf, Germany-based fighter is still just 26-years old.

With KSW since 2017, Soldic’s only loss in the promotion came to current UFC star Dricus Du Plessis. The pair fought twice for the Polish promotion, with each man finishing the other in back-to-back fights.

Soldic currently sits on a five-fight win streak, dating back to the Du Plessis loss. Most recently, he stopped Michał Materla in what was Soldic’s 185lb debut.

Kincl has won his last five fights, with the past two coming inside the KSW cage. The Czech fighter has found the finish in both of his fights for the promotion. In his last outing, he stopped Tomasz Romanowski with punches in the second round.

No other fights have been announced to date for the KSW 63 card.

During this MMA hiatus, we’ve taken to scouting world and selecting five favorite prospects from each country for the most part. This time out it’s a combo deal, as we’ll look at both Czech Republic and Slovakia. These two nations have produced the likes of David Dvorak, Jiri Prochazka, Lucie Pudilova, and Makhmud Muradov – all of whom are doing well in the big leagues.

Featherweight, Ludovit Klein (16-2)

Ludovit Klein has plenty of experience with 18 pro fights at a young age and some wins over good competition. He has a background in boxing being an amateur boxing champion of Slovakia. On the feet, he has a good jab and a dangerous head kick. At times he needs to throw more follow-ups but still at least throws steady output. Klein has some solid wrestling as also and he mixes it in together well. He’s a fun fighter who honestly is improving in each fight. I believe Klein will become the first Slovakia-born UFC fighter.

Strawweight, Magdaléna Šormová (9-2)

Magdalena Sormova is coming off a loss but prior to that was on a 4-fight win streak. She has wins over Kay Hansen and Svetlana Gotsyk who are two good prospects as well. She’s also the former WWFC champion. Sormova is a strong grappler being a threat going for submissions constantly. Her ground and pound is solid as well. She will give up bad positions and will get taken down easily. As long as she’s on the mat she has a good chance of winning.

Middleweight, Patrik Kincl (22-9, 1 NC)

Patrik Kincl is a veteran of 32 professional fights but has still yet to fight on a big stage. He’s fought for ACB in the past and only lost to Albert Duraev during his time there. Kincl is well-tested against fair competition. He’s a better wrestler who on the mat has a few TKO wins and six wins by submission. I’m not fully sold on his overall skills but he has proven himself on the regional scene. He is currently on a three-fight win streak.

Featherweight, Lukáš Chotěnovský (3-0)

Unlike the three fighters listed above, Lukas Chotenovsku is untested. He’s never fought anyone towards even mid-tier level as he’s never had an opponent with a winning record. Chotenovsku still has caught my eye however. On the feet he looks solid from his movement, kickboxing, and striking. He throws tight combinations mixing in strikes and leg kicks together. Chotenovsku has shown to be explosive throwing flying knees but is just a technical striker. Of course, he has some kinks to work out but he’s been pretty dominant thus far.

Heavyweight, Martin Buday (7-1)

Martin Buday is a prospect that’s stood out in the last two years. He is the current arguably the best prospect out of Eastern Europe. Besides being 7-1 as a pro he went 3-0 as an amateur. Outside of MMA, Buday is a 2x IBJJF European NoGi champion and an ISFA European grappling champion. His sole loss is to The Ultimate Fighter Season 28 winner Juan Espino. Buday doesn’t have any special qualities, but his forward pressure and ability to cut off angles has served him well. He doesn’t hit hard but has good timing when he throws. He’s not fast but uses effective footwork. While he’s not the most explosive heavyweight, he is still on a six-fight win streak with all six being finishes.
