Ahead of a big weekend for MMA and the massive UFC 322 in New York City, Legacy Fighting Alliance was in action with LFA 222 taking place in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

Vinicius Pires had claimed the promotion’s 135lb title back in March, and was looking to make the first defense of his title against Kazakhstan’s Artem Belakh, a ONE Championship veteran.

A few more notable names also adorned the LFA 222 card, including Aline Pereira, sister of UFC champ Alex “Poatan” Pereira. After posting a 1-2 record to start her MMA career, Pereira had taken time off and jumped to Karate Combat, going 3-0 in three consecutive bouts and earning a title there. Now returning to the cage, Pereira was set to take on “Bosnian Bombshell” Nejra Repp in what could be a make or break fight for her career.

TUF 27 finalist Joe Giannetti, still just 30, was in action as well on the night’s main card, as was Bellator alum Nathan Ghareeb.

“It was tough times. If there’s anything that I learned from that experience, the survival story of everything that I’ve went through, is the grit and the resilience,” Repp told Cageside Press.

“That’s in my family and myself. Like I always say the fight itself, in the cage, is nothing compared to what my family and myself have been through.”

The fight card is headlined by a pair of former champions heading up in weight to challenge for a different belt. First Weili Zhang will make the jump to fight Valentina Shevchenko, then Islam Makhachev heads up to challenge Jack Della Maddalena. We’ll break down those fights as well as some of our other favorite fights on the main card. Plus, as always, we’re hitting you with an underdog and a plus-money parlay that we think will make your wallet fat this weekend.
Nathan Ghareeb Interview (23:14)

Next up is our interview with LFA lightweight, Nathan Ghareeb. Ghareeb discusses the bad blood he has with his upcoming opponent, Josh Harvey. Now working back in New England with his original striking coach, Ghareeb is ready to take it to Harvey and take that next step forward towards the big show.

Nejra Repp Interview (37:35)

Closing out this UFC 322 edition of TTP is our interview with LFA flyweight, Nejra Repp. She discusses the close decision loss that encouraged her to take a step back in the sport. After moving back to her original home, she picked up a huge KO. She talks about the feeling of validation following that as well as her upcoming fight with Poatan’s little sister, Aline Pereira.

There’s a time in every young fighter’s career where they have to push all of the chips in. They have to believe that this career is one for them and dedicate themselves to the craft. For Factory X’s Nejra Repp, that time came during 2020, when the rest of the country was also at a crossroads.

“When things shut down during COVID, it opened up my eyes. I was like ‘what am I doing?” Repp explained. “I need to commit fully or not do this at all.”

She was not knew to MMA or to training at that point. She had always been in the gym. However, she had just not been dilligent or doing it for any real reason.

“I’ve been in and out of the gym for 9 or 10 years. But I’d get in and hit pads and just mess up on the weekends – go out or whatever,” she said. “There was no purpose behind it and I feel like when COVID happened I reevaluated my life and went for it.”

That reevaluation lead her to starting her training camps in Colorado and training with the best of the best. She is well into plans to move there on a permanent basis in order to maximize her growth as a martial artist. While that’s a scary time for some. It just fits the “Bosnian Bombshell”s personality.

“I’m either giving it my all or I’m not doing it at all,” Repp said. “Whether it’s my work, relationships or whatever – it’s just my personality.”

Repp will look to take that next big step as she faces Shannon Clark at LFA 170 main card. That fight will air on UFC Fight Pass this Friday.

LFA 170 Headliner Haris Talundzic Interview (2:44)

Kicking off this edition of TTP is our interview with LFA welterweight, Haris Talundzic. Talundzic discusses his second chance to headline a LFA event and how that might possibly lead to the big show. While he values the LFA title and even has a spot for it on his bookcase, he feels he’d have no problem skipping it to get his call. First, he’ll have to deal with Daniel Frunza at LFA 170, who weirdly reminds him of his favorite post-fight snack.

Nejra Repp Interview (14:38)

Closing out this edition of TTP is our interview with LFA flyweight, Nejra Repp. Repp discusses her plan to go ‘all-in’ on her MMA career and move to her new home in Colorado. With the plans in motion, she added to the chaos by accepting a big fight that could put her on track to make that move to the big show sooner rather than later. She’ll fight Shannon Clark this Friday at LFA 170.

Combat Countdown: Top 5 Regional Titles (28:41)

After a wild UFC 294, we get a week off of the events. But that doesn’t mean that we rest. Instead, we’re bringing back the Combat Countdown and taking a look at the regional scene. We counted down the best 5 regional titles that lead to UFC success. Be sure to check this out. For this segment, all odds via FanDuel Sportsbook.

Shannon Clark Interview (35:15)

And next on this loaded edition of TTP is our interview with LFA flyweight, Shannon Clark. Clark takes on our other guest Nejra Repp in an exciting tilt at LFA 170. She discusses her unique training situation and how she never really believed she’d be where she is today. However, where she is today is getting ever closer to the top.

Special Interview with XMartial Founder (46:38)

Closing out the show this week, we spoke with the founder of XMartial, Josef. He discusses his plans to spend a year in an RV while training across the country. He hopes for it all to come to a head with a ADCC trials and who knows what else. Plus, he discusses his business ideals with us.
