Pudilova would close out the night against Lucia Szabova, fighting for Szabova’s bantamweight title in a Czech vs. Slovak battle. Fleury, like Szabova a double-champ in Oktagon MMA, was putting his light heavyweight title on the line in the co-main event, against UFC vet and Oktagon interim middleweight champion Makhmud Muradov.

With his light heavyweight title on the line, Fleury (17-3, 1NC) will now face Makhmud Muradov (29-8, 1NC) at the event in Prague, Czech Republic.

Promotion officials announced the new booking via press release on Monday. Muradov will be moving up from middleweight for the opportunity.

Fleury has become something of an unlikely star for Oktagon MMA. A former Bellator MMA and PFL athlete, the Irish fighter saw a decision victory over Krzysztof Jotko under the PFL banner in 2023 overturned to a No Contest when both men failed their drug tests. Fleury later admitted to using banned substances, but after serving his suspension has won six straight bouts under the Oktagon banner.

That has seen he capture both light heavyweight and heavyweight gold in the promotion. Last time out, he defended his heavyweight title by knocking out Kasim Aras. That was on June 20, at Oktagon 90. Now, just six weeks later, he’ll look to defend his 205lb belt for the first time.

Muradov captured Oktagon’s middleweight title last year care of a victory over Patrik Kincl. He’ll look to become the promotion’s latest double champ come August 1.

Another Oktagon double champ, Lucia Szabova, will put her bantamweight title up for grabs at Oktagon 92. She’ll face off against UFC vet Lucie Pudilova earlier in the night.

The main event sees #1 heavyweight contender Lazar Todev face off against newly crowned light heavyweight champion Will Fleury, for the Oktagon MMA heavyweight title. This card has a lot of storylines going into it, and we break down a few below.

The Irish Invasion

The aforementioned light heavyweight champion, Will Fleury, will not be the only Irishman on the card. Alongside him is Manchester Top Team product Denis “The Menace” Frimpong. Lazar Todev, originally hailing from Bulgaria, has a large German fanbase, and will certainly have the crowd on his side. However, Fleury is no stranger to playing the role of the bad guy, with his last fight being against Czech superstar Karlos Vemola in Prague.

Fleury now looks to win the vacant heavyweight title, that very title that Todev was supposed to fight for in December, before disputes between Hatef Moiel and the promotion caused a cancellation. That, after Moeil sparked a press conference ahead of the fight.

Frimpong faces off against Stuttgarts’s own Robin Frank. Robin Frank will walk out to a large amount of cheers, however, Frimpong will walk out to a roar of boos.

Hailing from Ireland, the pair of fighters will look to silence the boo-birds. Fleury looks to become a two-weight class champion within a year in the promotion, while Frimpong returns to Oktagon MMA looking to push his way towards the top 10.

The return of Alan Omer

A feel-good story coming into Oktagon 68’S Co-Main event. Alan Omer is back after a five-year layoff due to a brain tumor. The UFC veteran makes his Oktagon MMA debut, and more importantly his return to the cage against Lukasz Kopera. Omer made a powerful statement ahead of this fight, saying “The tumor might have hit my brain, but it never hit my heart.”

Muradov looks to continue his Oktagon MMA Dominance

After leaving Oktagon MMA to sign with the UFC in 2019, the former promotional Champion, Makhmud Muradov (or simply “Mach”) returned to the promotion in September of 2024, winning a unanimous decision over Scott Ashkam to cement himself as the #1 Middleweight contender. While he isn’t competing in the Tipsport Gamechanger Tournament, Muradov will continue to defend his #1 spot. Muradov was supposed to face Joilton Lutterbach, he now faces Yasubey Enomoto in the third last fight of the night.

Marek Bartl taking on all of Team Jungwirth

Originally slated to face Christian Jungwirth, Marek Bartl now faces Jungwirth’s teammate Daniel Schwindt. Sadly, due to a herniated disk, Christian Jungwirth was unable to make his homecoming bout.

Marek Bartl captured the attention of the Welterweight division when he submitted Endrit Brajshori with an inverted triangle in December. Immediately post-fight he called out Jungwirth. Pretty quickly, that fight was made. However, the injury took Jungwirth out of the highly anticipated matchup. Daniel Schwindt, teammate and best friend of Christian Jungwirth, also lost his opponent for this card, so these two were matched for a thrilling bout. Schwindt, a middleweight, made his promotion debut at Oktagon 65 in Prague in December, where he overcame a controversial illegal knee to win via TKO against Radovan Uskrt. Schwindt was set to face off against Uskrt again due to the controversial nature of the win, but instead finds himself fighting his friend’s fight in a catchweight bout.

Along with UFC 313 this weekend, we have Oktagon 68 to keep fight fans busy. Luckily, as this card is taking place in Europe, the timing will work out, and you will be able to roll from the Oktagon 68 card, right into the UFC 313 card on Saturday.

Despite only being used since 2020, the UFC Apex has now hosted 14% of UFC events, ever. This marked Imavov’s fourth fight in the Apex and Dolidze’s fifth.

Let’s take a look what could be next for the winners on the night.

Nassourdine Imavov

The “Russian Sniper” returned to the win column with a majority decision win over the dangerous, Roman Dolidze.

His prior bout with Chris Curtis came to an unfortunate end, as the referee stopped the contest after an accidental clash of heads. The 27-year-old was then scheduled to fight Ikram Aliskerov at UFC 294, but he withdrew from the bout.

The MMA Factory product currently sits rank 11th in the 185lb division, but will likely take the Georgian’s rank 8 spot after the win.

The top of the middleweight division has been somewhat stagnating for what seems to be a while now. Fortunately, the majority of the fighters making up the top 8 are booked into fights. Jared Cannonier, who is currently ranked fourth, doesn’t have a dance partner.

It could make sense for Imavov’s next fight to be against “The Killer Gorilla,” as Cannonier will likely need another win before he fights for middleweight gold again.

Renato Moicano

After a largely comprehensive performance from “Money” Moicano, one of the most bizarre, yet entertaining Octagon interviews ensued.

As advertised, Moicano vs Dober got messy throughout their 15 minute brawl at UFC Vegas 85. As soon as this fight was announced, it was being marked on the majority of people’s calendars, due to the fan favourite style of both lightweights.

The Brazilian had an extended time away from the Octagon as his most recent fight was back in November of 2022, where he impressively beat Brad Riddell in the first round of their UFC 281 bout.

He was then scheduled to fight Arman Tsarukyan in April last year, but he withdrew because of injury. The infectious 34-year-old finally returned this weekend, and ground out a tough win over the dogged, Dober.

A few days after his hard fought victory, Moicano has made it clear on social media that he wants Beneil Dariush next. That fight could make sense, depending on what Dariush’s next move is, following his loss to Arman Tsarukyan back in December.

Randy Brown

“Rudeboy” Randy Brown successfully rode the momentum of his last fight, coming in and knocking out Muslim Salikhov in the first round at UFC Vegas 85.

This win over Salikhov marked just his third win by TKO during his eight year UFC tenure. Despite that, the 33-year-old has put on a run of impressive performances throughout his 17 fight UFC career, and may now be ready for a fight inside the top 15.

Michael Chiesa is currently occupying rank 14, and that is a fight that could make a whole lot of sense. Failing that, even the rank 15, Rinat Fakhretdinov could be a valid dance partner for the “Rudeboy”.

Natalia Silva

The insanely impressive Natalia Silva extended her win streak to 11 this weekend, with her highest rank win thus far, coming against Viviane Araujo.

The Pingo d’Agua native has undoubtedly highlighted herself as a future title contender, and there won’t be many UFC flyweights putting their names in the hat to fight the striking specialist.

Despite having to fight the majority of the fight on her back foot, she was at no stage in danger of losing her win streak.

The name Maycee Barber has been thrown out there by some fans, however, she is currently scheduled to fight Katlyn Chookagian in March. Unfortunately for Silva, everyone ahead of her in the rankings is already booked.

Depending on how quickly the 27-year-old wants to return, she may find herself having to fight down the rankings to stay as active as possible. The only fighter beneath her that could make sense, is Tracy Cortez.

Due to the unfortunate circumstance of this fight being declared a no contest, just 11 seconds into the first round, this fight should be re-booked.

Charles Radtke

Opening up the UFC Vegas 85 main card with an emphatic win was the controversial Charles Radtke. Due to his on-mic antics in Australia at UFC 293, the fans were locked into this fight for their own reasons.

Radtke found a home for a blistering left hook late into round one, knocking Urbina out. What followed was a light-hearted yet strange Octagon interview with Cormier. That wasn’t the strangest part of “Chuck Buffalo’s” night though.

In his post fight press conference with the media, Radtke stated that he wanted payment for the post-fight media appearance he is contractually obliged to do, which resulted in an awkward silence and subsequently, no questions asked by the media.

The 33-year-old is clearly happy to lean into the heel persona he has created for himself, however, he may want to slow down with it. During his Octagon interview, he asked where Leon Edwards was at and proceeded to timidly call him out. Although it was likely a joke, it didn’t result in any laughs from the fans.

If a Brit is what he’s looking for, then why not Sam Patterson? Coming off the back of a first round submission of Yohan Lainesse and in his more natural weight class, Patterson could be a fun next fight for Radtke.

Inactivity has plagued Khizriev since signing with the UFC in 2020. He has had five fights canceled for one reason or another since then, and it took him two years and four cancellations just to get to his debut, in which he dominated and finished Denis Tiuliulin. Two years later, he takes on a once-hyped prospect in Muradov who had his train derailed with two straight losses in 2022. A win in 2023 over veteran Bryan Barbarena got him back on track, and taking the ‘zero’ of Khizriev would put him right back in the limelight. But neither fighter was happy when they left the UFC Apex on Saturday.

Aliaskhab Khizriev opened the fight pressing forward in his southpaw stance, throwing hands right away. However, on the way to begin his combination he poked Muradov in the eye with his lead hand. It was a bad one; the doctor was heard informing referee Herb Dean that Muradov’s cornea was scratched. The fight barely got started before it was over, continuing Khizriev’s run of bad luck which rivals fighters like Alex Perez.

The only things that can be said now are that hopefully Moradov is okay and hopefully they are able to rematch soon, so both of their careers can move past this incident.

In his last outing, Muradov was defeated by a top prospect in Caio Borralho. Since that Muradov has been booked to fight Abus Magomedov, but had to pull out of the bout due to injury. “Bam Bam” Barberena was coming in off a loss to Gunnar Nelson back in March, which also took place in London.

Muradov admitted after the fight that it was the final one on his current UFC contract, but hopes his performance against someone like Barberena will have earned him a new deal. “I was working hard for this fight because it’s my last chance to stay in the UFC.

“Barberena has a very good chin brother. You see two or three times, and one he faked [being wobbled], I’m not stupid brother I came here to win. I got here so can’t lose because it’s the last fight in my career in the UFC [last fight on current deal], when I win, I have a new contract. I think it was a good fight, I think the people liked it. Mick, Hunter, send me a good contract, I’m here,” Muradov said following the fight.

During his four year UFC tenure, Muradov has accumulated six fights, being victorious in four of them. However also during that four year period, the Uzbek has had eight bouts cancelled, against the likes of Kevin Holland, Abus Magomedov (twice) and Andre Muniz.

Despite calling for a new improved contract, the 33-year-old admitted that during his fight with Barberena, he injured his knee. Muradov said: “My next opponent is me, it’s my injury. I told you, whoever Mick sends me I fight, because I’m here to fight, I’m ready for everything.

“Maybe for me November is good at Madison Square Garden because there’s a lot of Uzbek people there, my army you know, I like my fans. Money and a good contract is good, but it’s not everything.”

The Uzbek fighter Muradov, famously the only UFC fighter signed to Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather’s management team, had stormed out to a three-fight winning streak in the UFC before running into Gerald Meerschaert and Caio Borralho. Meanwhile “Bam Bam” Barbarena, a seventeen-fight UFC veteran, had spent his run with the company almost entirely at welterweight.

Bryan came in with a two-fight losing streak and two-inch height disadvantage but would look to use his pace and volume, always his gameplan, to overwhelm Muradov. His last loss was at the last UFC event in London, a submission loss against grappling specialist Gunnar Nelson. Muradov clearly had studied that fight as he tried to use his wrestling, an infrequent tool of his, in this fight.

Barbarena and his infamous hair came out southpaw and pressing forward from the opening bell. Muradov started with an open side body kick from his orthodox stance, which landed on the belly of Barbarena, which looked bigger than usual with the weight class move. Muradov shot on a single leg and transitioned to a double leg; he was able to get Barbarena down but Barbarena got back up. Muradov held on in the clinch and dragged ‘Bam Bam’ down again. Barbarena gave up his back in order to attempt to stand up but did not let Muradov get his hooks in. He turned to face Makhmud again and Muradov laced up the legs and looked to advance to an awkward mount position against the fence but Barbarena stood back up.

The two traded punches on the break. Muradov was evasive on the feet, trying to stick and move against the aggressive Barbarena. His length was useful in this as he landed some decent right hands. A particularly big right hand let him level change and land a clean double leg. Barbarena immediately butt-scooted to the fence and used it to wall-walk up to his feet. Barbarena ate a flying knee at the end of the first round but landed a body shot before the bell.

Barbarena clearly dropped the first round and needed to make it up in the second but Muradov struck first with a big right hand thirty seconds in. One minute in he landed a monster 1-2 combination which sent Barbarena flying face-first to the canvas. Bryan stayed conscious and fought his way back to the feet. The confidence and pace of Muradov increased after that, but he still used evasive footwork so he would not burn out his cardio in the later stages of the fight. The two fighters traded words as Barbarena returned and marched forward to land hooks against the fence, but Muradov broke off and potshotted Bryan again from range. His pinpoint accuracy kept him in the lead and controlling the momentum.

With two minutes left in the round Muradov shot in for a double leg and got Barbarena to his butt. Once again Barbarena was able to wall-walk to his feet but Muradov mat returned him a few times. With thirty seconds left a clash of heads opened a cut on the forehead of Barbarena, pausing the fight. But the ever-tough ‘Bam Bam’ did not take any time before resuming back in half-guard. He once again wall-walked and was once again mat returned, right before the bell.

Barbarena clearly needed a finish when the final round started but Muradov remained as elusive as ever. A right hand from Muradov sent Barbarena flying early on, though he was perhaps just caught off balance. The Uzbek fighter used that to get the rear body-lock but Barbarena broke free. Muradov then began an assault against the fence and attempted a takedown which was stuffed. Barbarena tried to press forward again but got caught by a right hand which sat him down and then a body kick which clearly hurt. Muradov landed a flying knee but Barbarena was undeterred and kept pressing forward relentlessly.

More straights and an uppercut landed from Muradov in the final ninety seconds of the fight. He stayed on the retreat until Barbarena attempted a takedown at the same time as Muradov, leading to a violent clash of heads which hurt both men badly. The fight resumed with one minute left in the round. Barbarena chased down Muradov again until the Uzbek landed yet another takedown. However Bryan stood right back up and pressed forward, only to get taken down again right before the bell.

The decision was not really in doubt as Bruce Buffer read the scorecards, announcing that all three judges scored it 30-27.

The southpaw Borralho came out in his bouncy karate stance, looking to kick. Muradov landed a big right hand after a minute to the head of Caio, who then staggered Muradov back with a stiff jab. Two minutes in Borralho shot a power double leg and drove Muradov to the mat. Caio settled in half guard but Makhmud was able to regain full guard even as he ate elbows. Muradov tried to push Borralho off but Caio jumped right back on top of him and gained the full mount. As Borralho looked to lock up an arm triangle choke, Muradov suddenly exploded and let his back get taken to make something happen. As Makhmud stood up he shook Borralho over the top of his head. Caio ended up on bottom after failing an armbar. Caio then executed a sudden sweep, but Muradov disengaged and, after eating an upkick, ended up back on top in full guard.

A minute and a half into the second round Muradov shot a takedown of his own and almost got submitted by a tight guillotine. He was forced to roll to his back and Caio bailed on the choke to end up on top, in half guard. Borralho was then able to pass to full mount once again but Muradov wiggled out from underneath and got on top in full guard. Borralho was able to scoot his butt to the fence but Muradov kept him from wall walking to his feet. In the last ten seconds Borralho got a guillotine choke and Muradov was forced to roll but it came to nothing in the end as the bell sounded.

With the scorecards likely tied, the final round was crucial for winning the fight. The fighters stayed on the feetfor a while until Caio shot a takedown after a minute, but Muradov pushed him away. Muradov then shot a takedown of his own and Caio tried to lock up another guillotine. It was not tight initially but Borralho tightened it up and was able to use the guillotine to reverse the position and once again gain full mount. However, Muradov then re-guarded to full guard. Muradov tried to push off Borralho with his feet on the hips but Borralho jumped right back on top. Short ground and pound kept landing from Caio, not doing insane damage, but just enough. Grappling struggles took up the rest of the fight but Borralho maintained top position throughout and the fight ended with him trying to land ground and pound despite the wrist control of Muradov.

When the scorecards were read, all three judges scored the fight for Caio Borralho, with two judges having all three rounds for the Brazilian.

Igor Lazorin was first to report that Misha Cirkunov will take on Makhmud Muradov at the event. Cageside Press confirmed the booking Wednesday.

For Cirkunov (15-7), the fight finds him in must-win territory. The Latvian-Canadian has lost two straight, including his middleweight debut last time out. That bout saw Cirkunov lose a split decision against Krzysztof Jotko.

When he entered the promotion in 2015, Cirkunov got off to a hot start at light heavyweight, finishing all four of his opponents through his first four fights. Since then, however, he has posted a 2-5 record inside the octagon.

Muradov (25-7) shot to fame as the first mixed martial artist to be represented by Floyd Mayweather’s The Money Team. After a strong run in eastern Europe, Muradov signed with the UFC and won his first three bouts. Gerald Meerschaert then served up his first setback in the octagon back in August, locking in a submission in the second round of their contest.

The UFC’s February 26, 2022 event does not have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced. The following bouts have been reported for the card to date:

Kicking off the UFC Vegas 35 main card on Saturday, Gerald Meerschaert once again found himself in a gatekeeper role. The veteran, who in recent times has faced the likes of Khamzat Chimaev, Deron Winn, and Ian Heinich as they broke into the middleweight division, seemed to be a litmus test for 185lb hopefuls. This time out, it was Makhmud Muradov, undefeated in the UFC, and the first MMA fighter repped by Floyd Mayweather’s The Money Team.

Meerschaert took it right to Muradov, throwing combinations while backing Muradov to the cage. Muradov circled out and landed a pair of punches, but ate another combination. Meerschaert landed a body kick, but unfortunately poked Muradov in the eye to put a halt to the quick start the fight had. When action resumed, Meerschaert connected with a three punch combination but was stung by a hard Muradov punch. Another one made Meerschaert take a seat and the tides turned. Muradov proceeded to land big shots several times that grounded Meerschaert, but couldn’t get a finishing blow. Meerschaert then landed a kick below the belt, his second foul of the round, but a poinnt was not taken. When they got back to it, Meerschaert landed a hard left hand, then ate a big hook from Muradov. A head kick found a home for Meerschaert and Muradov responded with a right hand that made his opponent stumble. Meerschaert then ended the round strong with a big left hook and a takedown.

The second round started with Meerschaert showing aggression with his pace. He ate a hook from Muradov then tried to take advantage of Muradov slipping, but Muradov popped up quickly. A pair of big left hands connected for Gerald Meerschaert, who then took Muradov down along the fence. Meerschaert then took his back and sunk in a rear-naked choke to pull off the upset.
