With the city’s deep Irish roots, it was no surprise to see Dublin, Ireland’s Danni McCormack headlining the show, looking to defend her strawweight title for the first time. Opposite McCormack, Poland’s Karolina Wojcik, getting her first shot at Invicta gold.

Wojcik had fallen in the Invicta strawweight tournament to Valesca Macadho — who happened to be on Friday’s card as well, facing Kalindra Faria in the co-main event, also at 115lbs.

Among other familiar names on the bill, Kristina “War Horse” Williams, a Bellator MMA veteran who had seen a three-fight win streak snapped in her last outing.

Invicta FC 54 takes place at the Citizens House of Blues in Boston, MA on Oct. 27 with the action getting underway at 8PM ET. Full results and a live stream of all the action can be found below.

Wednesday night saw all-female fighting organization Invicta FC kick off their 2023, with two title fights topping the night in Denver, Colorado.

Invicta FC 51 was set to unfold at Reelworks Denver, with bantamweight champion Taneisha Tennant putting her title on the line against UFC vet Talita Bernardo in the main event.

Tennant’s run as a bantamweight had been perfect to date, with the only blemish on her record coming up a weight class on Dana White’s Contender Series, where she had lost a decision against boxing standout Danyelle Wolf. Yet while Wolf had gone 0-1 in the UFC since, “Triple Threat” Tennant first won, then defended, Invicta’s 135lb strap.

Bernardo, meanwhile, left the UFC following a disappointing 1-3 run, but was 3-0 since, picking up wins over fellow UFC ex-pat Lucie Pudilova, and TUF 28 alum Katharina Lehner.

Invicta FC’s vacant flyweight title was up for grabs in the co-main event on Wednesday. That match-up saw Bellator vet Kristina “War Horse” Williams paired up with Brazil’s Ketlen Souza.

Williams had won three straight to start the night, with two of those victories under the Invicta banner. Souza had won four straight, and made her promotional debut last time out.

Full results and a live stream of the action from Invicta FC 51 can be found below!

Tuesday’s Invicta FC 51 weigh-ins did not exactly go off without a hitch.

The event, which takes place at ReelWorks Denver in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, January 18, sees Taneisha Tennant putting her 135lb title on the line against former UFC fighter Talita Bernardo. The co-feature also has gold up for grabs, as Kristina Williams will face off with Ketlen Souza for the promotion’s vacant flyweight strap.

Both of those fights are official, with all four competitors making weight. Two other fighters on the card came in heavy, however, and as a result, one bout has been cancelled.

At bantamweight, Seren DeJesus weighed in 1.3lbs over the non-title bantamweight limit for her fight with Olga Rubin. That fight will still happen, with DeJesus coughing up 25% of her purse. However, with Tanya Nijjar coming in at 118.1lbs for a strawweight fight with Sayury Canon, who came in at 113.1lbs, that fight was unable to move forward, as Nijjar was removed from the card.

Invicta FC 51: Tennant vs. Bernardo Weigh-In Results

Bantamweight: Serena DeJesus (137.3)* vs. Olga Rubin (136)
Bantamweight: Claire Guthrie (135.9) vs. Auttumn Norton (135.7)
Strawweight: Fatima Kline (115.7) vs. Laura Gallardo (115.3)
Strawweight: Tanya Nijjar (118.1)** vs. Sayury Cañon (113.1)

* – DeJesus missed the bantamweight limit of 136 pounds and was fined 25 percent of her fight purse

** – Nijjar missed the strawweight limit of 116 pounds and the fight with Cañon was removed from the event

Invicta FC will return to Oklahoma next month, and is bringing some familiar faces with it.

A previously reported atomweight title fight will top the Invicta FC 49 card on September 28, 2022, in a bout that sees champ Jessica Delboni take on “Lionheart” Jillian DeCoursey.

In addition to that match-up, promotion officials announced five more fights for the Invicta FC 49 card on Wednesday. Among the names included, Bellator veteran Kristina “Warhorse” Williams, and The Ultimate Fighter 30 competitor Helen Peralta, fighting for the first time since her appearance on the show.

Peralta (5-2) has five wins and just a single loss under the Invicta FC banner, but fell to Katlyn Neil during the TUF 30 women’s flyweight tournament. Peralta’s only other loss as a pro came against fellow TUF 30 fighter Laura Gallardo in CFFC last year.

In addition to her MMA career, Peralta has gone 2-0 in bare-knuckle boxing, taking part in a couple of early BKFC events.

At Invicta FC 49, Peralta will face UFC veteran Poliana Botelho (8-5), who went 3-4 inside the octagon and was released on the tail of a three-fight losing streak earlier this year.

Williams (6-3) has won back-to-back fights in Invicta FC, and will be facing Ketlen Souza on September 28. Souza (11-3) had been expected to fight for flyweight gold back in March, in what would have been her promotional debut. She was forced out of the bout on short notice.

Williams vs. Souza will serve as the evening’s co-main event, with “Warhorse” fighting at home in Oklahoma.

Invicta FC 49 will take place on September 28 at the Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, Oklahoma. The full list of fights announced on Wednesday is as follows:

Atomweight Title Fight: Jéssica Delboni vs. Jillian DeCoursey

Flyweight: Kristina Williams vs. Ketlen Souza

Strawweight: Liz Tracy vs. Valesca Machado

Flyweight: Helen Peralta vs. Poliana Botelho

Bantamweight: Brittney Cloudy vs. Montserrat Rendon

Strawweight: Nadia Vera vs. Shauna Bannon

Invicta FC 48 went down in Denver, Colorado this past Wednesday, and turned out to be a night full of finishes — primarily submissions.

The six-fight card saw four bouts end inside the distance, with a three-pack of rear-naked chokes stealing the show. The card was opened up by Auttumn Norton, who battered Canadian newcomer Maria Djukic en route to a second-round TKO finish.

Following that violent finish, Amber Leibrock, a Bellator MMA alum, sunk in a rear-naked choke on Morgan Frier. A short time later, another Bellator vet, Kristina Williams, did the same to Liana Pirosin. In the co-main event, UFC alum Talita Bernardo would then take out fellow Brazilian Yana Gadelha, once again with a rear-naked choke.

The main event at Invicta FC 48 saw bantamweight champ Taneisha Tennant defend her title against Olga Rubin, a former Bellator MMA title challenger, in a close split decision. But perhaps the most explosive moment came not in the fights, but in Isis Verbeek’s post-fight interview. After defeating boxer Melissa Oddessa in a three-round unanimous decision, Verbeeek blasted her opponent for being disrespectful ahead of the fight. Addressing Oddessa’s trash talk, she exclaimed “You’re 35 years old, you’re not a kid anymore!”

Full results and a gallery of highlights from Invicta FC 48 can be found below.

Invicta FC 48 was a night full of finishes.

For critics who claim that the ladies all too often go to decision, Invicta FC 48 was the perfect evidence to the contrary. Four of the first five fights on the Denver, CO-based card finished inside the distance, including three by rear-naked choke.

The evening was kicked off by Auttumn Norton and Maria Djukic at bantamweight, with Norton welcoming Canada’s Djukic to the promotion. It was a rude welcome in the end; Norton finished off the Canadian early in the second, rocking her opponent, practically throwing her to the canvas, and piling on with strikes.

From there, it was all submissions. First Amber Leibrock, then Bellator veteran Kristina “Warhorse” Williams, and finally UFC alum Talita Bernardo all locked in rear-naked chokes.

In the case of Bernardo, the win came against fellow Brazilian Yana Gadelha, who stepped into the fight on short notice to replace Katharina Lehner.

Invicta FC bantamweight champion Taneisha Tennant anchored the main event against former Bellator title challenger Olga Rubin. Both ladies opened the action firing head kicks; Rubin would then give Tennant a different look, taking the back along the fence and working to drag the champ down — though Tennant demonstrated some solid takedown defense.

Tennant’s takedown defense would be tested throughout the opening five minutes, leading to Rubin having the edge on the scorecards with two judges (Colorado had open scoring in effect for the event). The subsequent round saw a lot of feeling out, with Tennant having the answer to Rubin’s takedown attempts — but seemingly stymied when it came time to get her hands going.

That continued into the third, but by the end of 15 minutes, Tennant was up on the scorecards, 29-28. In the fourth, the pair went to the ground near the midway mark, with Rubin working on a buggy choke off her back. Rubin put on the squeeze, but Tennant gutted it out until the end of the frame.

The title fight would go the distance, with Tennant turning things up at the end of the round. That may have been key, as the end result was a split decision: one judge awarded Tennant all five rounds, while the other two each scored the fight 48-47— only to be split on the winner.

A win is a win, and Tennant retains her bantamweight title, defending it for the first time.
