Cage Fury FC returned to the confines of the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, June 14 for CFFC 132: Daukaus vs. Patershuk.

In the main event, UFC alum Kyle Daukaus looked to continue his post-octagon resurgence, one that has seen the 31-year old from Philly win three straight fights under the CFFC banner. Looking to defend his CFFC middleweight title for the second time, Daukaus was paired up with Keanan Patershuk- no doubt with thoughts of a UFC return in mind, should his success continue.

In the co-main event, meanwhile, Brazil’s Emily Martin looked to claim the vacant CFFC women’s bantamweight title against Invicta FC veteran Auttumn Norton. Also on the card, Shamel Findley was in a flyweight grudge match with Bilal Hasan.

Keron Reed might be best known as the man who beat Kelvin Sterling, former UFC bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling‘s little brother.

As CFFC 132 on Friday, June 14, however, Reed (2-1) will look to continue to build up his own name, landing a fight against the unbeaten Christian McAuley at a time when bookings appear hard to come by.

“I’ve been having a lot of pull-outs, so I haven’t been able to get the fights, be as active as I want to,” Reed told Cageside Press in a recent interview. “That’s all I want, is just activity. That’s probably what I need the most in my pro career, is just more activity, more experience, and I ain’t getting it as much as I want to. So I’m just taking what I can get right now.”

Since his pro debut, in fact, just two fights ago, Reed has seen six fights fall through. “It was frustrating at the beginning, it’s crazy to say but I’m kind of getting used to it now. It is what is it,” admitted Reed, who feels that it’s “a little bit of both” when it comes to fighters ducking him, versus the regional scene always facing a dearth of opponents.

One would-be opponent in particular, however, pulled out twice, including once when he was 12 pounds overweight. “The John Pham fight, one of the fights, the commission pulled him. Then our second fight, he just made an excuse, said he had to go to the hospital and he was 12 pounds overweight. We never heard some sh*t like that before.”

The man who has signed on to fight and appears ready to show up is McAuley, a 25-year old who is 3-0 overall with two wins under the Cage Fury banner. “He is good. He’s got some good skills, but there’s just some things when I watch him fight, I can see me taking over the fight, me getting the finish, me breaking him,” observed Reed. “It’s just little sh*t that I can see. It’s little sh*t I can see where I’ve got the edge on him in certain areas. But overall, he’s a good fighter.”
