Ten more UFC fighters will need to look for work elsewhere.

Last week TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter reported that six fighters were removed from the UFC roster. The fighters cut were Luke Sanders, Anthony Birchak, Aalon Cruz, Jordan Griffin, Bartosz Fabinski, and KB Bhullar.

The promotion wasn’t done with the cuts, however. MMA Fighting has since reported that three other fighters were cut. The three others are Yorgan de Castro, Justine Kish, and Oskar Piechota. And earlier this week, Maurice Greene posted on his Instagram that he was released as well, rounding it out to an even ten.

Greene (9-6) started out winning three straight before losing four of his last five. He was most recently in action at UFC on ESPN: Rodriguez vs. Waterson and lost a lopsided unanimous decision.

de Castro (6-3) knocked out Justin Tafa in his UFC debut, winning Performance of the Night but then lost three straight, including being knocked out in his last fight.

Kish (7-4) started her octagon career winning two straight, including a win over Nina Nunes, before losing four out of her last five.

Piechota (11-3-1-1) won his first two UFC fights before getting finished in his last four.

Sanders (13-5) was the longest-tenured UFC fighter alongside Kish on the list of cut fighters. He went 4-5 with a win over former bantamweight champion Renan Barão.

Birchak (14-8) did not have any luck in his second run with the promotion, getting finished in both of his fights. This marks the second time the organization has cut him.

Cruz (8-4) won a UFC contract on season three of Dana White’s Contender Series but could not find the same success in the UFC as he was finished in both of his fights in the first round.

Griffin (18-9) went 1-4 inside the big show after winning a contract on season two of Dana White’s Contender Series. Many media think he won his last fight against Luis Saldana.

Fabinski (15-5) started his UFC career, winning his first three fights. However, the Polish fighter would lose three of his last four, getting finished in all three.

Bhullar (8-2) would lose his only two fights in the UFC after leapfrogging competing on Dana White’s Contender Series.

In addition, after losing his broadcasting gig with the promotion, Dan Hardy appears to have been released from his fight contract with the organization. MMA Fighting first reported the news, citing Hardy himself as the source. Hardy spoke out on his issues with the promotion earlier this year.

Andreas Michailidis picked up his first UFC victory over KB Bhullar at the UFC Vegas 25 prelims.

Middleweights KB Bhullar and Andreas Michailidis took center stage on the UFC Vegas 25 prelims. Bhullar was looking to get his first win in the UFC after coming off his UFC debut back in 2020, a loss to Tom Breese. His opponent, Andreas Michailidis, was also looking to get his first UFC victory after getting stopped by Modestas Bukauskas in his freshman outing in the promotion in 2020.

Michailidis opened up swinging big, looking to get the knockout early against Bhullar. Throwing massive winging shots, Michailidis did hurt Bhullar halfway through the round, but Bhullar ended up getting into the clinch and got a chance to breathe for a minute. However, he didn’t breathe for long as Michailidis landed a huge head kick and flurry, before getting a big takedown and getting Bhullar’s back. Michailidis landed some ground and pound before going for the choke, however, time ran out and we would see a round two.

Bhullar landed a devastating strike early in round two, however it was an illegal one, landing a hard groin strike right as the round began. After a brief rest, the two were right back at it. Michailidis went right back to pressuring him right after the break, however, looking to land more winging blows as he was swinging for the fences. Bhullar started to find some offense of his own, however, finding a nice home for the body kick and low kicks near the end of the round.

Bhullar came out with the same strategy in round three, mixing up the body kicks and low kicks and occasionally landing a jab or two upstairs. Michailidis was a little bit more restrained early but it wasn’t long before he was swinging for the fences once again. Bhullar was making Michailidis leg a little red but wasn’t landing anything too hard-hitting, but by the third round, Michailidis wasn’t landing much of substance either. However, Bhullar landed another devastating groin strike in the third, his hardest strike of the round. The two soon went to a decision.

A pair of middleweights vying for their first UFC win will collide on May 1, 2021.

Cageside Press verified with sources close to the situation Friday that Andreas Michailidis will fight KB Bhullar at the Fight Night event. Alfredo Zullino of BJPenn.com was first to report the news.

Michailidis (12-4) will be looking for his first UFC win after an unsuccessful attempt at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige on ‘Fight Island.’ He lost to former light heavyweight Cage Warriors champion Modestas Bukauskas. For those who missed it, there was a strange ending to that fight. As the round ended, Michailidis was told to stand up after getting hit with elbows by Bukauskas. He tried to get to his feet but stumbled out of the cage door, thus ending the fight. The Greek fighter will look to redeem himself as he is back at his normal weight class.

Canada’s KB Bhullar (8-1) is in a similar position as he was also stopped via TKO in his first UFC fight, which ended his undefeated streak. Bhullar was supposed to fight on season four of Dana White’s Contender Series but skipped the line and went straight to the UFC. He fought a returning Tom Breese at UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs. Sandhagen, also on ‘Fight Island.’

The UFC’s May 1 card has no official location yet. As of now, the card breaks down as follows:

Cub Swanson vs. Gavin Tucker
Damon Jackson vs. T.J. Laramie
Kai Kamaka III vs. T.J. Brown
Mike Jackson vs. Dean Barry
Ji Yeon Kim vs. Poliana Botelho
Dominick Reyes vs. Jiří Procházka
Andreas Michailidis vs. KB Bhullar
Ion Cuțelaba vs. Devin Clark
Loma Lookboonmee vs. Sam Hughes

Tom Breese went back to the basics at UFC Fight Island 5, finishing the debuting KB Bhullar with a jab in the very first round.

Tom Breese fought for the second time in a calendar year for the first time since 2016 when he welcomed KB Bhullar to the Octagon at UFC Fight Island 5. Breese had a lot of hype surrounding him when he first joined the promotion in 2015 and rattled off three wins, but injuries derailed his rise, leading him to only fight twice since 2016. He was 1-1 since then, defeating now-retired Dan Kelly and falling to up-and-coming talent Brendan Allen.

Bhullar is a promising Canadian fighter who entered the Octagon with an undefeated 8-0 record. He got his shot at the UFC in a unique way, as he was set to fight on the Contender Series later this year, but signed onto this fight on short notice. Of those eight victories, Bhullar had four knockouts and a pair of submissions.

Early on Breese was landing the jab and Bhullar was landing a few nice leg kicks. Breese landed a nasty left hook that snapped the head back of Bhullar. Somehow, Bhullar stayed upright but Breese landed a straight right jab, sitting down Bhullar for the finish.

After the fight, Breese explained that he was trying to land downward punches on his shorter opponent, but then realized that his jab was doing damage. The fundamentals worked as it was the jab that finished Bhullar.

The UFC is coming off a spotlight for the women’s bantamweight division last weekend. One that saw Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie cement their status as the top two fighters not named Amanda Nunes. A week later, it’s back to Abu Dhabi for UFC Fight Island 5. This time out, the bantamweight division is in the spotlight. Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen top the bill, in a key 135lb fight. The event is also a showcase for newcomers, with no less than six debuting fighters involved. In a middleweight bout Tom Breese (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) was supposed to fight Roman Kopylov a week ago. Kopylov dropped out and now Breese will be fighting the debuting KB Bhullar this Saturday.

How Bhullar will fare in the UFC:

I like KB Bhullar. He has a wide array of skills. He’s well-rounded, he has good size for the division, and he’s someone that knows how to use his length and range. Bhullar is very intelligent, and trains out of an underrated team in Shaved Bears (alongside Tanner Bosser). Although Bhullar had some time off from MMA from late 2013 to late 2018, he still competed in Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing bouts.

On the feet, Bhullar’s a distance fighter with a good jab and solid kickboxing. Bhullar kicks hard, kicks fast, and kicks from unpredictable angles. I like how he’ll rip the body continuously and then go to the head. In the clinch, mainly in the Muay Thai plum, Bhullar has excellent knees which are perhaps his best weapon. Bhullar does have some worrying striking defense however. He doesn’t ever seem to move his head and his body is wide open for the taking. He still hasn’t been hit a lot in his career and that’s because of his footwork and distance management.

Bhullar is not a good wrestler, as he is really more of a defensive wrestler with strong hips and a good whizzer. On top, he throws nasty elbows, and with his long arms, he does a fine job threatening with the d’arce. Throughout his career, he’s had excellent takedown defense showing good balance and fighting under hooks in the clinch. The one time I’ve seen him on his back he looked a bit lost. Once he was taken down he stayed there for the remainder of the round and never came close to getting back up or even getting a submission going off his back. Outside of everything already stated he has a good gas tank conserving his energy and should be good for three rounds no problem. He probably will struggle against an aggressive striker and a strong wrestler. I still like his overall game and I think he’s going to be an issue for a lot of guys.

How he matches up with Breese:

Three years ago, Tom Bresse was one of the brightest up and comers but lately, that fire has been put out. He’s had a tough time getting to the fight as he’s only fought once in the last two years. When he did fight he got smoked by Brendan Allen in a first-round defeat. Breese is a submission grappler who over time got better on the feet. Striking-wise, Bhullar is more technical and smarter in his approach, whereas Breese hits hard and everything is thrown in bursts.

Where I think Bhullar can control this fight is on top but it’s also where Breese can take over. Breese has six submission wins and two off his back by triangle. Bhullar has never been submitted but Breese is easily the best fighter he’s fought. Bresse is more proven and has the tools to neutralize Bhullar but at this stage in his career, it’s hard to gauge where he’s at. I’m taking the surging red hot prospect in Bhullar due to his momentum and recent cage time. I believe his path to victory will be to stay long with his kicks and make it a gritty fight against the cage while working in takedowns.

Following in the footsteps of TJ Laramie, KB Bhullar looks to be the next Canadian fighter to earn a UFC contract off Dana White’s Contender Series when he battles Bruno Oliveira on September 22.

The former Unified MMA middleweight champion has already experienced what UFC fight week looks like after cornering his teammate Tanner Boser at UFC Fight Island 3. But the 28-year-old doesn’t get caught up in the hype of fighting for a bigger promotion and treats every fight the same.

“Everyone talks about the bright lights and the glitz and glamour but you know it’s a cage fight in the end right?” Bhullar told Cageside Press. “The rules are the same, nothing changes. You make the same kind of walk, you’re in the back lock room … it’s all really the same. Once you, in your head, let all that seep in and make it different. You’re doing that to yourself. You’re letting external pressures affect you.”

Bhullar added, “But you know to answer your question like it did help, yeah going there with Tanner and getting to see it all firsthand. Especially on the Fight Island event like with it being completely quiet and everything that is is a little bit different, but I mean, overall, it’s all the same.”

Bhullar (8-0) has finished six of his eight career opponents and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over UFC veteran Matt Dwyer at Unified 38 in July 2019. “The Begal” is expecting an action-packed fight and one that will catch the eye of UFC President Dana White.

“I’m going to win this fight by one of two things,” Bhullar explained. “I’m going to be the first guy to win a flying omoplata or leaping scissor kick, it’s one of those. If Bruno wins, he wins by just basically coming out and just cleaving my head off in the first like, minute. But I’m gonna do everything in my power to not make that happen. On paper, it just makes for an exciting fight. I think the styles match up really well. But I’m going to do everything in my power to come out on top. I just gotta focus on me and show up that day with the desire to make sure this is been a long time coming. And I have to make good on that.”

Contender Series Week 8 takes place on September 22 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

There are plenty of hot prospects around the globe in MMA. The hottest, however, will always be those who manage to compile a strong, undefeated record. Today, we’ll take a look at a trio of those, in Johnny Eblen, KB Bhullar, and Ramazan Kuramagomedov.

Johnny Eblen

Fighting currently at the age of 28
Weighing in at 185 lbs
Standing at 6’1″
Hailing from Boca Raton, Florida, US
Training out of American Top Team
A professional record of 6-0 with four finishes all in the first round

The five things that stand out the most:

Fast starter

Aggressive

Fight-ending ground and pound

Solid wrestling

Excellent control on the mat

Where does Eblen Excel?

Johnny Eblen finished all his pro fights before signing to Bellator in 2019 and in both of his Bellator fights he’s gone the distance. In those fights, he’s shown more of his skill set while displaying very impressive cardio, fighting at the same pace all three rounds. Eblen has a background as a Division I wrestler for the University of Missouri and he’s absolutely dominated with takedowns in MMA thus far. On the feet, Eblen bounces in and out throwing the outside leg kick well. Eblen times his shots very well grabbing the single leg and pressing his opponent against the cage then dropping levels executing the double leg.

Eblen’s hands are improving, but does more crashing forward to close the distance to work in takedowns. He is at, or at least nearly at 100% on his takedown attempts. Eblen times his shots from the outside very well and in the clinch has shown his physical strength, getting big body lock takedowns. The work he does on top has been utter dominance. His top control is heavy and he will rain down heavy and constant ground-and-pound. The work ethic here is just second to none and with his deep gas tank he’s been able to just destroy opposing fighters.

Where does Eblen need improvement?

Eblen has looked pretty darn stellar in his career. He is only 6-0 but even his last two opponents have been better competition. Despite his record, Chauncey Foxworth is a good regional test for anyone and Eblen won all three rounds. Mauricio Alonso is a BJJ black belt and someone who finished Josh Koscheck but Eblen had no issue dominating him on top. It’s clear his only need for improvement is on the feet. He’s not a distance fighter as he misses more than he lands from there, and he tends to reach with his strikes.

Could he reach 11-0?

Bellator is known for building up prospects slowly, especially with the high-level wrestlers they’ve signed over the years. Eblen is a good talent who I think can reach title contention one day in the future. He already has the superior wrestling and top-notch cardio which is hard to find in a young guy. I’ll say I’m very confident he will reach 11-0 before facing a defeat.

KB Bhullar

Fighting currently at the age of 28
Weighing in at 185 lbs
Standing at 6’4″
Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Training out of Hayabusa Training Centre
A professional of 8-0 with six first-round finishes

The five things that stand out the most:

Good use of length

Big submission threat

Holds hands low

Excellent kicks from the outside

Good muay thai

Where does Bhullar Excel?

KB Bhullar is a well-rounded talent who is a finisher no matter where the fight is at. On the feet, he’s a fantastic distance fighter with the jab and his kickboxing. Bhullar does a great job attacking the lead leg of his opponent and then mixing it up, going up top. He’ll throw a lot of different kicks keeping his opponent on the outside, just showing different looks.

Bhullar is better at his range but in the clinch, he loves to throw knees and elbows. Being so tall, Bhullar is a nightmare in the Muay Thai plum. Not sure how good his wrestling is but he’s really tricky on the mat with his long arms and legs. Bhullar has a sneaky D’arce choke and on the mat, he is always looking for the finish. He’s technical but explosive. He’s tricky and has high fight IQ.

Where does Bhullar need improvement?

There isn’t a ton of footage on Bhullar out there but there aren’t really any glaring holes in his game. The one thing that is noticeable is he holds his hands low, but that’s because of his long frame and being confident with his distance management. It’s still a worry against a pressure striker but it hasn’t been a problem yet. Still, there needs to be a lot more seen from Bhullar.

Could he reach 13-0?

Prior to his last fight, Bhullar hadn’t fought anyone outside of upstarts, journeymen, and fighters with losing records. With that said, in his last fight he beat former UFC veteran Matt Dwyer, which was quite the statement. I believe standing at 6’4″ at middleweight and being someone who knows how to use his range he’s going to give a lot of guys problems. I do believe before he gets to 13-0 he will be signed to the UFC. Even if he does go to the UFC I think of what all I’ve seen he’s the real deal. I’m just about sure we will see Bhullar with a 13-0 record.

Ramazan Kuramagomedov

Fighting currently at the age of 23
Weighing in at 185 lbs
Standing at 6’0″
Hailing from Makhachkala, Russia
Training out of Gorets
A professional of 7-0 with four finishes

The five things that stand out the most:

Excellent kicks

Very technical

Unpredictable

Solid grappling

Good top control

Where does Kuramagomedov Excel?

Ramazan Kuramagomedov is a fighter with very few flaws. His defense all around is solid from his head movement to his footwork and good takedown defense. He has good kickboxing and mixes in strikes and kicks together perfectly. The Russian is an unpredictable but technical fighter. He’ll throw a variety of attacks while throwing a lot of feints and fakes.

Kuramagomedov throws a lot of lower calf kicks, putting his opponents off-balance then throwing head kicks or the flying knees. He has a natural flow to what he throws going to knees, lead elbows, knees just so effortlessly. Kuramagomedov is very comfortable on the feet but has solid wrestling as well. He will change levels after throwing a combination getting the fight to the mat. Ramazan has three submissions all by an armbar, guillotine, and a Von Flue Choke showing his variety.

Where does Kuramagomedov need improvement?

In his fight with Jordan Williams, Kuramagomedov had to fight through a lot of adversity. He was hit quite a bit and even rocked as he did slow a bit in round three. I don’t think his striking defense is much of a problem because he usually has excellent head movement slipping and ripping. I do think his cardio is a slight problem when it comes to moving his head and his reaction time. Kuramagomedov is still always dangerous still holding power in the later rounds.

Could he reach 11-0?

Kuramagomedov has already fought for a big stage on ACA and PFL and even the Contender Series. I’m sure he will get signed to a big promotion and get tested right away. He has the skill set to be a major champion one day in the future since he’s only 23-years-old. Kuramagomedov is a legit talent who has a great chance of going 11-0 before facing defeat. His diversity on the feet, his wrestling, and his ground game should take him to an undefeated record of 11-0 no matter where he goes.

KB Bhullar will be fighting for 185lb gold this weekend at Unified MMA 38, and we caught up with him ahead of the fight.

KB Bhullar takes on Matt Dwyer at Unified MMA 38. The two vie for the vacant middleweight championship on Friday, September 27. The River Cree Resort and Casino plays host to this 10th-anniversary event for Unified. The event emanates from that venue but will also be broadcast on FITE TV. This has been a long and winding path for KB Bhullar but he stands teetering on the precipice of achieving the kind of greatness that he has long been working for.

The Krahn fight

KB Bhullar is getting this title opportunity on the heels of his Cody Krahn fight. Bhullar was able to put on a comprehensive performance against by far his most experienced opponent to date. Speaking to Cageside Press, he said that “I kept having people whisper in my ears that Cody is gonna be very experienced. He’s going to put the pressure on me and how that I don’t have the same level of experience. I felt very confident in there and I just had to be the matador against the bull.”

The comeback

This run of recent success came after a hiatus where he got his post-secondary degree. When KB Bhullar returned to the competitive fold, he had found the landscape changed a fair bit. “Interestingly enough before my hiatus Unified was kind of like the low tier player in town,” he stated. “There was MFC, the AFC, World Series of Fighting, and Unified. They became the major player in western Canada, in my opinion.”

Bhullar continued, adding “I was having itchy knuckles for like three years just watching my teammates and the other competitors come up through the ranks.”

The comeback was at one point not a completely assured thing. KB Bhullar’s brother suffered quite a visceral injury where he needed surgery after his first fight. On that front, Bhullar admitted that “it was a very hard experience. When it happened, it was a tremendously damaging experience. It left a very sour taste in my mouth for the sport. I felt very lost for a while. I didn’t know what to do when the one thing I had been pursuing all my life just didn’t make sense to me anymore.”

“But in the end, the love came back. I had no other avenues in my life where I felt that kind of drive,” Bhullar continued. “I tried to find something else thinking that MMA wasn’t for me anymore. But in the end, it just kept calling to me.” Bhullar eventually came to the realization that this enamored feeling was something he needed to undulate with a little more. “You have no other choice but to be good at it if it’s consuming you that much,” he told us.

Boser wisdom

Another big part of Bhullar’s return was the impactful words of a long-time training partner and someone Bhullar also called a real good friend. Top Canadian heavyweight/ recent UFC signee Tanner Boser had a sobering talk with Bhullar that caused him to reflect immediately afterward.

“Tanner was coming up through the ranks and just becoming this monster heavyweight,” he said. “And Tanner approached me after training one day. I was talking about how much I was hating work and accounting and whatnot. He’s just like ‘what are you doing, man? You have so much potential. It’s still there and you’re just wasting it’ and him saying that to me, I just had this moment.”

That moment resulted in KB quitting his accounting job to pursue MMA with full vigor. The return has resulted in a three-fight winning streak, all finishes, that have now netted him a shot at significant hardware.

Matt Dwyer at Unified MMA 38

When we spoke, KB Bhullar was readying himself to fight his next “stiffest test he’s ever seen.” The Matt Dwyer fight is one Bhullar takes quite seriously but he can’t help but notice similar rhetoric from pundits coming up ahead of this cage foray.

“I think a lot of people like to chalk it up to experience. They always like to use experience against me like I’m some inexperienced amateurish fighter,” he said. “Matt Dwyer has plenty UFC level experience. He’s fought a lot of high-level guys. Matt’s got a tall, long frame. So I’m excited to take that challenge of fighting that guy with a similar frame. He’s very tough. He’s a warrior.”

Appreciating Accomplishments without Resting on Laurels

The goal of holding Unified gold is something Bhullar expressly mapped out when he announced his MMA return. Bhullar conveyed a lot of candor in describing how he’s feeling ahead of actualizing a goal into reality. He said, “I just set that fucking goal, man and I know I’m going to do it. I put myself on the trajectory to be able to do it. I said at the beginning of this year, when I made my return into MMA that I wanted to win a national title and now it’s all just shaping up to this.”

Bhullar has had an impressive run of competitive successes starting with the 2007 Capitol City Championships. As that accomplishment was brought up to Bhullar, he stated “that was honestly one of the most memorable achievements. You know when you’re like a kid and you win something big? Or at least in your head it’s big.”

Bhullar continued, saying that “my coach Pedro said something to me the other day that kind of stuck. He said, ‘As a fighter in order to get better you have to let your successes kind of die each time they’re done. Enjoy them for a little bit but don’t cling onto them.’ The same thing on a micro-scale even in a fight. Let’s say you have one single technique that’s working for you, don’t get stuck on that one thing and think that’s going to end the fight. You have to let that shit go.”

Shaved Bears

KB Bhullar isn’t the only member of the Shaved Bears team looking for Unified MMA gold this Friday. Graham Park takes on Sheldon Doll and Christian Larsen takes on Jared Kilkenny as Park and Larsen look to return those belts back to the Shaved Bears camp.

“When there’s a common goal, a common objective in the room, you just see the teammates rally together,” Bhullar said of the situation. “Everybody’s working hard. Everyone has that championship in mind. Nothing but good things.”

At Unified MMA 37, the card where Bhullar defeated Krahn, the Shaved Bears went on a 7-0 run. As much as MMA is an individual sport, there’s a lot of teamwork dynamics that exist, especially in situations like this. Bhullar said, “it just speaks volumes to the fact that guys care about each other. They’re willing to as a team put our egos aside and do what needs to be done to help the others win. If the guys are sparring the intensity is high but they’re not trying to hurt each other.”

Beyond intensive fight preparations, Bhullar also seems to be looking to make a heel turn at Unified MMA 38. “I want to come out to a country song just to piss off every Indian person that comes out to my fights,” he claimed. “I think I’d come out to Scarecrow in the Garden by Chris Stapleton. I’d come out to that and just watch as everyone goes “Why?””

Special titles

The Shaved Bears all seem to have their unique accolades outside of the martial arts sphere. Tanner Boser is the claw machine GOAT, Neal Anderson is the donair king, etc. When I asked Bhullar about what his unique distinction is, he eventually stated, “I’m the poutine prince.”

The poutine prince looks to become Unified MMA’s new middleweight king. His chance comes about when he gets locked in the cage with Matt Dwyer in Enoch, Alberta this Friday. If you can’t be there live and in-person at the River Cree Resort and Casino, you can peep Unified MMA 38 on the FITE TV broadcast.

Favorite striking or grappling technique?
I don’t have a favorite technique, but I like the idea of using the right technique at the right time. For the sake of style points, I love the axe kick, and from a submission perspective, I love chokes.

Any MMA fighters who inspired you?
I grew up in the era of Anderson Silva, and I always loved watching him fight, but my all-time favorite fighters to watch were Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva.

Favorite current fighter?
My favorite current fighters I like to watch are Jon Jones, Canelo Alvarez, Nieky Holzken, Yodsanklai Fairtex, Max Holloway, I really dig Sean O’ Malley’s style, I like studying Bazooka Joe Valtellini even though he retired, Alistair Overeem, Demian Maia, Lomachenko, TJ Dillashaw, Leandro Lo. The list goes on and on, I could sit and ponder this question all day.

Lion King or Toy Story?
That’s tough. I’m going to say Lion King. But both are amazing.

PlayStation or XBOX?
Ughhh, I have both and can’t find the time to play either. All I know is after my next fight I’m locking myself away for two weeks and I’ve gotta finish Red Dead Redemption 2. Whether that’s on PS4 or Xbox remains to be seen.

M&M’s or Skittles?
I’ll go with M&M’s.

Favorite song?
My brother and I drove to Fort Mac to watch our training partners fight on a Prestige FC event and we played 500 Miles by the Proclaimers for a grand total of 3.5 hours until my brother was rendered clinically insane. So yeah, that’s gotta be my favorite song.

Favorite TV show?
Game Of Thrones, cinematic mastery.

Favorite Movie?
Unfortunately, I can’t narrow down my favorite movie.

Cats or dogs?
I would normally say dogs, but cats are cool too.

Bhullar got into MMA when he was 14-years-old. He started in taekwondo just to feel a sense of empowerment because of the bullying he was dealing with in school. Initially, it started out as being introduced to the concept of MMA, then his TKD coach began playing with introducing the combination of grappling and striking as one. When the coach took his first MMA fight in the MFC, Bhullar acted as a training partner to help him get ready. With only one fight as an amateur, Bhullar made his pro debut in February of 2012. In July of 2013, Bhullar moved to 4-0, but the next time he stepped in the cage wouldn’t be until December of 2018.

In January of 2014, the little brother of KB took on his first amateur fight where he suffered a horrific injury. KB sat in a hospital lobby in Calgary as his little brother awaited emergency plastic surgery after both sides of his jaw were completely split in half. His mandible had been crushed on the left side of his face right through his teeth, and the right side had fractured directly below the ear. As Bhullar said in his own words: “As I held my blood-soaked hoodie in my arms with tears streaming down my face that I would never fight again.” As his little brother was set for a long road of recovery one day in India he told KB something he would never forget. He said “You let my loss become yours, I’m okay! I got better! You just f***in’ gave up on your dreams”. Bhullar built up the courage to pursue his dream in MMA and made the return in December of 2018.
