There’s something a different about training with a living legend like Dan Henderson, and Bellator welterweight Jeff Creighton knows that picking the brain of one of the greatest to ever do it helped him at Bellator 293.

“I fight out of Temecula, California. Dan Henderson’s Athletic Fitness Center. I felt at home here. I’ve been here for years. I knew my crowd was going to show up. I think we blew the roof off the place,” Creighton told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum

Creighton (7-3) picked up a split decision over Joey Davis at Bellator 293 after a hard-fought three rounds that tested his endurance. Creighton said that hard rounds with his training partners, including Henderson, were key to his victory over Davis.

“Just a lot of hard rounds. Even with Dan Hendo himself, Tarec Saffiedine. I have great training partners around me. I knew cardio was going to be the biggest aspect. I watched Joey’s fights. I did film study. He comes out during the fight and he fights at a decent pace. Then he slows down throughout,” he said.

“And if you watch my fights I speed up throughout. I think I showed that here tonight.”

At the end of the day Creighton felt that he won because he wanted it more than Davis. Plain and simple.

“Nothing against Joey. But Joey’s supposed to be here, and I want to be here. I thought that was the difference and I think that’s what it kind of came down to in the end. Nothing taken away, nothing from Joey, he’s had his two-and-a-half year layoff. Nothing against him,” Creighton said.

“But I really wanted it. And I wanted it more than him.”

Watch the entire post-fight scrum with Jeff Creighton above.

An influx of young talent as been added to the Bellator 293 card next month.

In a press release distributed Tuesday, promotion officials announced that Joey Davis (8-0), Maria Henderson (1-0), Lance Gibson Jr. (7-0), Lucas Brennan (7-0), and Sullivan Cauley (5-0) had all been added to the event.

In addition, a previously announced match-up between Jay Jay Wilson (9-1) and Mandel Nallo (9-2, 1 NC) has been called off due to injury.

Gibson Jr., son of UFC vet Lance Gibson Sr. and stepson of former Bellator women’s featherweight champ Julia Budd will be getting a solid step up in competition against Team Fedor’s Vladimir Tokov (8-2), brother of recent middleweight title challenger Anatoly Tokov.

Henderson, wife of former WEC and UFC lightweight champ Benson Henderson, who fights for the Bellator MMA lightweight title next month, meets MacKenzie Stiller. Stiller will be making her pro debut in the bout, after going 4-0 as an amateur.

Sullivan Cauley gets a fellow top light heavyweight prospect in Luke Trainer (6-1). Joey “Black Ice” Davis, meanwhile, returns against Jeff Creighton (6-2-1). Dangerous as ever on the ground, Lucas Brennan meets Josh San Diego (9-4).

A battle of undefeated bantamweight prospects has also been pencilled in for Bellator 293. That fight sees Bryce Meredith (3-0) face off with Brandon Carrillo (1-0).

Bellator 293 is headlined by a heavyweight bout featuring former UFC athlete Marcelo Golm (10-3), ranked No. 7 in the division, against No. 8-ranked Daniel James (14-6-1). In the co-main event, what is expected to be a women’s featherweight title eliminator sees Cat Zingano (13-4) take on Leah McCourt (7-2).

Set for the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, CA on March 31, 2023, the Bellator 293 card features the following reported match-ups:

Marcelo Golm vs. Daniel James

Cat Zingano vs. Leah McCourt

John Salter vs. Aaron Jeffrey

Rustam Khabilov vs. Jaleel Willis

Sullivan Cauley vs. Luke Trainer

Archie Colgan vs. Justin Montalvo

Joey Davis vs. Jeff Creighton

Lucas Brennan vs. Josh San Diego

Mike Hamel vs. Nick Browne

Randi Field vs. Ashley Cummins

Bryce Meredith vs. Brandon Carrillo

Maria Henderson vs. MacKenzie Stiller

Khonry Gracie vs. David Pacheco

Joey Davis continued his winning ways at Bellator 253.

Taking on a former Cage Fury FC champ in Bobby Lee, Davis once again cruised to victory thanks to his dominant wrestling. This time around, it was a unanimous decision win for “Black Ice,” who was undefeated in wrestling, and remains so in MMA.

“I thought I was going to be more precise on my feet, but he was a heck of an opponent,” Davis (8-0) told media outlets including Cageside Press following the fight. “He came out ready to go, and that’s all I can ask for from an opponent. He had me on my P’s and Q’s, and I just went back to the drawing board.”

However, the win does show one thing, said Davis. “Beating a champion from another organization, that just shows what I’m capable of, in eight fights now. Sky’s the limit for me.”

Ahead of the fight, and post-fight as well, Davis spoke of “things I still want to accomplish in life.” At the same time, he’s a “training wreck — all I do is train 24/7.” But Davis wants to give back as well. Later on, he’d explain that “growing up, I was always doing wrestling camps, I was always helping the community out. It was just something that was just brought to my attention at a young age.”

Now that he’s a professional fighter with Bellator MMA, Davis believes that accomplishing those goals will be more fun. “And much easier if I just keep a zero next to my name,” he added.

Undefeated welterweight prospect and Team Bodyshop rep Joey Davis returned at Bellator 253. Welcoming him back to the Bellator cage was a promotional newcomer in Bobby Lee. But while new to the promotion, Lee carried with him some solid credentials, having won interim gold in Cage Fury FC in his last bout.

Lee immediately went on the offensive Thursday, throwing kicks to the leg and body. The newcomer then opted to shoot on Davis, a rather glaring mistake given the level “Black Ice” had achieved in his wrestling career. Not surprisingly, Davis stuffed that takedown and converted one of his own. From there, a heavy top game allowed Davis to land a number of strikes on Lee, who at least tied up his opponent’s leg and fought the hands to keep things competitive. On his way back to his feet, however, Lee ate a big right hand among a flurry of strikes; that blow dropped him back down. Davis went in for the kill, but couldn’t finish it there.

Joey Davis had the fight down again early in the second. Lee employed a kimura grip to try to escape; when the did move back to the feet, however, they didn’t stay there long. Davis planted Lee on his back, and this time, moved into guard with half the round still remaining. He finished out the round in control. And it was more of the same in round three. Davis’ wrestling was too much, his top came was too much, and Bobby Lee finished the round on his back.

Combined with his undefeated collegiate wrestling career, Davis is quickly becoming one of the biggest bright spots in the sea of young talent that Bellator has acquired in recent years.

Official Result: Joey Davis def. Bobby Lee by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)

Back-to-back cards from CFFC meant a double-shot of MMA prospects competing on Fight Pass, while Brave CF, Bellator and more were also in action. Here’s a look at the the up-and-comers in action this week.

CFFC 88 | Wednesday | US

Strawweight, Criszaida Adames (2-0)

Going 4-0 as an amateur, Adames is only 2-0 as a pro but has looked good. Adames is a spitfire blitzing in and out with offense. She could be more technical but is active enough to create issues. Adames has taken down opponents as well as being able to mix it up on the feet. Her best aspects are her striking coming forward and her work rate. She’s still raw but has potential. She fights Claudia Baril (1-0).

Brave CF 45 | Thursday | Bahrain

Lightweight, Akhmed Magomedov (6-0)

Magomedov has a background in freestyle wrestling and was the Russian National Jiu-Jitsu champion in 2017. The Russian only has six fights, but three finishes, getting it done on the mat with submissions and ground and pound. He’s a smart fighter and could be someone to watch for in the future. He fights Abdul Azim Badakhshi (10-2).

Bellator 253 | Thursday | US

Featherweight, AJ McKee (16-0)

McKee has very good wrestling and is able to land many takedowns in a fight. McKee’s athleticism means he can get the easy double leg or just suplex his opponent to the mat. On top, McKee moves well but his control and top position are what stand out. He is strong in the clinch and likes to use knees, and from range he’s started to use more of his kickboxing skills. McKee is also getting better at keeping his opponent at his preferred range. Even with his ever-improving striking, the mat is where he really shows his high skill level. He fights former Bellator champ Darrion Caldwell (14-3).

Welterweight, Jason Jackson (12-4)

Jackson is a good striker who is technical with an excellent jab and a crushing right hand. This product out of the former Blackzilians gym is a very good wrestler as well as being very well-rounded. He’s super athletic and seems to get better every time he fights. He fights well-known former UFC lightweight champ Benson Henderson (28-9).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIalMiFWxqY&ab_channel=AXSTVFights

Welterweight, Joey Davis (7-0)

Davis is an unbeaten D2 wrestler at 133-0. Davis has looked pretty stellar for the most part in his MMA career. He’s used his excellent wrestling and ferocious ground and pound, the latter probably being his best aspect by far. The wrestler though is very athletic and explosive. Davis has finished the fight with both his hands and his kicks. He really looks to be a big deal at only 26-years old. He fights Bobby Lee (12-4) who is his toughest test to date.

Bantamweight, Keith Lee (7-3)

Don’t be deceived by Lee’s record with three losses. His losses are all to very good fighters. Keith is the younger brother of UFC star and top contender Kevin Lee. Keith is very exciting and is extremely well-rounded with excellent cardio. On the feet, Lee has a nice jab and throws a lot of kicks. He’s an even better wrestler who actually out-wrestled an excellent wrestler in Shawn Bunch. He fights Raufeon Stots (14-1).

Bantamweight, Raufeon Stots (14-1)

Raufeon Stots is a former NCAA Division II national champion in wrestling at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. The only loss on his MMA record came to current UFC fighter Merab Dvalishvili. Stots is a fantastic wrestler but his stand-up has come along nicely with some good Muay Thai and a developing jab. Still, the Roufusport product is primarily a wrestler. His timing on his shots is excellent and the execution is perfect. It’s going to take a good fighter to beat Stots and to neutralize his wrestling. He fights Keith Lee (7-3).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6VZNGnoxi0&t=1s&ab_channel=AXSTVFights

Welterweight, Jaleel Willis (13-2)

Jaleel Willis is quite athletic and a top-notch wrestler. On top, he has the control, the transitions, and the ground-and-pound to excel. Willis is everything you want in a fighter, especially in terms of wrestling. On the feet, he does hold a lot of power in his hands. Willis still has some things to learn but is a bright prospect. He fights Mark Lemminger (11-2) who is a good prospect as well.

Featherweight, Jay Jay Wilson (6-0)

Wilson has only been a pro for a little over two years and has looked good. The Kiwi has displayed beautiful jiu-jitsu and showed once he gets the back he has a fantastic rear-naked choke. Still, there is a lot he needs to show but Wilson is someone to watch out for. His striking looked good in his last fight and many thought he shoul of lost that fight. He fights Sergio DeBari (5-1).

CFFC 89 | Thurday | US

Welterweight, Christien Savoie (8-0)

Savoie has competed at both middleweight and welterweight. He’s won titles in both weight classes inside Canadian promotion Elite 1 MMA. Savoie is mainly a grinder who will push the pace in close quarters. He wants to take the fight to the mat where his ground and pound is excellent landing at a solid rate with good shots from a short amount of distance. The undefeated record says it all. He fights Bassil Hafez (5-2-1) for the title.

One Championship | Friday | Singapore

Lightweight, Chang Min Yoon (4-0)

Yoon trains out of Team Stun Gun under the main man himself, former UFC fighter Dong Hyun Kim. Yoon doesn’t throw with a lot of output but throws a good jab, a one-two, and hits hard. On the feet, his best weapon is his heavy leg kicks. Yoon is a much better fighter once he gets the fight on the mat. He possesses some tactical grappling, transitioning effortlessly. Yoon is a submission threat as well with three submissions in his pro career. He fights Ryogo Takahashi (13-4).

Undefeated prospect and Team Bodyshop member Joey Davis (7-0) returns to action this Thursday at Bellator 253. There, he’ll take on Bobby Lee, a Bellator newcomer who won interim gold under the Cage Fury FC banner.

During the event’s media day this week, Lee suggested that his losses may give him an advantage over Davis, who has yet to have to overcome that sort of adversity in MMA.

Davis understands that statement. After all, losses in combat sports are teachable moments. They’re not the only teachable moments, however. “You can learn from a lot in life. You don’t always have to take the L,” opined Davis in response. “You can learn from winning as well. Watching film. Watching your role models, watching the people who have done it before you.”

When it comes to fighting Lee, “I’m just ready to showcase my talent,” Davis added. He hasn’t dug too deep into his opponent’s background. “I know that he’s a [CFFC] champ,” Davis said. “That already sparked a plug in me.”

Asked about fighting some of the bigger names in the welterweight division with a win, Davis said there were other things on his mind. To elaborate, “Black Ice” explained that “I’m just experiencing life. I want to do a lot more traveling. There’s more things that I want to do for my little sister, making sure that she understands that you got to work for everything in life. There’s things that I still need to learn in life.”

“Fighting isn’t everything,” he added. “But for the meantime, there’s war right now. So that’s all my main focus is on. I focus on the moment. That’s all I can handle. That’s what I’m going to be ready for on Thursday, November 19, is just ready for war.”

Davis won’t be heading off to war alone. There are two other Team Bodyshop members on the Bellator 253 card: Baby Slice, and headliner AJ McKee. He takes on Darrion Caldwell in the main event, part of Bellator’s featherweight grand prix. That’s a fight Davis thinks will surprise more than a few people.

“I think that Bellator is going to be very shocked by what AJ does,” Davis suggested. “It’s just going to be a remarkable performance.”

Bellator 253 takes place Thursday, November 20 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Unvasville, CT. The main card airs live on CBS Sports Network.

One of Bellator’s young standouts, Joey Davis brought about a bloody end to Chris Cisneros’ night at Bellator 235.

Undefeated welterweight prospect Joey Davis returned to the cage Friday at Bellator 235. Entering the night a perfect 6-0 with four first-round finishes in that span, Davis was set to take on Chris Cisneros. ‘The Maverick’ had more than four times the experience as Davis, and entered the bout on a two-fight win streak.

Joey Davis wasted zero time in scoring a huge double-leg takedown in this one. Cisneros was planted on his back almost immediately, his only option to scramble and scoot back to the fence. Once there, however, Davis was able to control him, using strong posture and wrist control. Soon enough, adding in some strikes from the top, including some damaging elbows, he had Cisneros cut open. Like a shark smelling blood in the water, Davis turned up the heat, unleashing a devastating barrage of ground n’ pound that had Cisneros covering up for dear life. No intelligent defense, and too many punches finding their mark forced to ref to wave it off.

With the win, Joey Davis moves to 7-0 inside the Bellator cage. He’s likely earned himself another step up in competition after Friday night.

Official Result: Joey Davis def. Chris Cisneros by TKO, Round 1, 3:55

The MMA world tends to slow a little as the holiday season approaches, but a week short on action still has plenty to offer. Up in the big leagues, Bellator has back-to-back cards with a number of prospects, including A.J. McKee, who has a chance to drop the prospect label in the ongoing featherweight grand prix. We’ll break it all down with the latest installment of our Weekly MMA Prospect Report!

Titan FC 58 | Friday | US

Bantamweight: Danny Sabatello (6-0)

Danny Sabatello, only holding a 6-0 record in MMA, does have experience in wrestling as well. He’s a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier and a two-time 141-pound Big Ten Championships place winner. There really isn’t much footage on him, but of what is out there, his pressure and wrestling stand out. He also has a few stoppages on the feet. Sabatello is training with American Top Team, a top-notch camp, to help him along the way. He fights Titan FC champ, Irwin Rivera (8-4).

Heavyweight: Mohammed Usman (5-1)

Mohammed Usman certainly has hype behind him as he is a natural athlete, playing football growing up parallel to being a top wrestler in his high school. Mohammed is the younger brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman so athleticism and the talent run in the family. With each fight, he’s getting better and better. Usman is a guy who you don’t want on top of you. While his wrestling struggled in the past he’s gotten better. He’s still raw but has potential. He fights Reggie Cato (5-3).

Bellator 235 | Friday | US

Welterweight, Joey Davis (6-0)

Joey Davis is an unbeaten D2 wrestler at 133-0. Davis has looked pretty stellar for the most part in his MMA career. He’s used his excellent wrestling and ferocious ground and pound, the latter probably being his best aspect by far. The wrestler though is very athletic and explosive. Davis has finished the fight with both his hands and his kicks. He really looks to be a big deal at only 25-years old. He fights Chris Cisneros (19-10).

Thunderstrike Fight League 19 | Saturday | Poland

Middleweight: Cezary Kesik (10-0)

Cezary Kesik is very underrated and is one of the best, if not the best, Polish prospects out there. Kesik is exciting, bringing an aggressive kickboxing style with a lot of power in his hands with six finishes by way of KO/TKO. If needed, Kesik will take the fight down where he is really talented with position control and transitions. He fights Jussi Halonen (8-6).

SFT 19 | Saturday | Brazil

Welterweight: Diego Bianchini (6-0)

Diego Bianchini brings a Capoeira style on the feet as he throws a lot of switch kicks and spinning kicks. He is very explosive and a human highlight reel as he throws caution to the wind. He has a variety of superman punches, crazy elbows from odd angles, and he is very quick. The Brazilian is also good on the mat. He has slick jiu-jitsu and is dangerous on top or bottom with three submission wins. He fights Vandirson Alves (6-1).

Bellator 236 | Saturday | US

Featherweight: AJ McKee (15-0)

AJ McKee has very good wrestling and is able to land many takedowns in a fight. McKee’s athleticism means he can get the easy double leg or just suplex his opponent to the mat. On top, McKee moves well but his control and top position are what stand out. McKee’s striking is good and still improving, he is strong in the clinch and likes to use knees, and from range he’s started to use more of his kickboxing skills, even getting a head kick KO. McKee is also getting better at keeping his opponent at his preferred range. Even with his ever-improving striking, the mat is where he really shows his high skill level. He fights Derek Campos (20-9).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxxj6dAQye4&t=108s

Flyweight: Juliana Velasquez (9-0)

A product out of Team Nogueira, Juliana Velasquez holds an undefeated record with five finishes. She has a lot of things she needs to work on especially in terms of her stand-up. Velasquez has power in her hands but only throws one strike at a time and really lacks footwork where she just stands in front of her opponents. She has good judo and is at home on the mat where her jiu-jitsu shines. She fights Bruna Ellen (5-2).

Bantamweight, Raufeon Stots (12-1)

Raufeon Stots is a former NCAA Division II national wrestling champion at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. In June of last year, Stots suffered his only loss to current UFC fighter Merab Dvalishvili. Since that loss, Stots has won his next four fights and is one of the best bantamweight prospects today. Stots is a fantastic wrestler but his stand-up has come along nicely. Along with some great movement, he is the total package. He fights Cheyden Leialoha (7-1). Check out our interview with Stots here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6VZNGnoxi0

ProFC 66 | Sunday | Russia

Lightweight, Alexandr Shabliy (18-3)

Alexandr Shabily, although violent, is an efficient counter fighter, reacting well to his opponent’s advances. His takedowns generally happen when his opponents try a takedown themselves, but he overpowers and throws them to the mat. On the ground he is very dangerous, winning by armbar, choke, triangle and leg lock, showing his versatility. On the feet, he is calm but he brings the heat when needed, and if he catches his opponent then he will try his best to end the fight, whether that be with his strikes or knees. Shabily is an intelligent fighter that makes very few mistakes. He fights Alexandre Cidade (14-2).

Brendan Loughnane made his PFL debut, Parick Mix returned for Bellator, and tons of other MMA prospects were in action in October.

The PFL was back in action, Bellator had a big weekend in Connecticut, and the regional scene was busy as always. Here’s a look at who stood out in October, as we’re back for another installment of the MMA Prospect Watch.

Featherweight, Brendan Loughnane (18-3)

Making his PFL debut, Loughnane dominated a credible guy in Team Alpha Male’s Matt Wagy. Loughnane started off tactical in round one just with his kicks, mainly some hard leg kicks. He started to pick it up more as the fight went on, using his hands more. He never let Wagy really find his range due to superior range control and footwork. The Englishman picked it up in round three forcing Wagy to curl up, with Loughnane finding home with his right hand.
Grade: B

Welterweight, Nikolay Aleksakhin (25-5)

An excellent performance from the Russian taking out a former UFC fighter and vet, Jesse Ronson, in the first. Both started off trading early and Ronson maybe was getting off the better strikes early. Aleksakhin was throwing a lot more how, up to combinations of two to four strikes. Aleksakhin with his rapid combos was just too fast for Ronson. The finish came as soon as the Russian got the thai clinch to land the knee on the jaw of Ronson. The end came shortly after when the ref saved Ronson.
Grade: B+

Strawweight, Casey O’Neill (3-0)

O’Neill would make it 3-0 inside the Eternal cage and though the title was on the line (to reclaim) she did miss weight. In round two the biggest moment was when she dropped Motono with straight punches. The fight mainly took place on the mat and it usually started with O’Neill on her back. It was not the takedowns from Motono but the jiu-jitsu of O’Neill that set the pace. From her back, O’Neill used kimuras, triangles, and armbars to transition to the back. Once O’Neill got top position she stuck there with good control and active ground and pound. Only 3-0 so she’s still green but is talented.
Grade: C+

Welterweight, Jack Della Maddalena (7-2)

In October, Jack Della would defend his Eternal welterweight title for the second time. Della’s original opponent pulled out and Kevin Jousset would step in on short notice. Jousset would just become another casualty to Della and would become the fourth undefeated fighter he took out. Della made this a gritty fight using short strikes to the body and head in the clinch. He also mixed in some trip takedowns. Della in the second round would curl up Jousset with a left hook to the body and a right to the jaw. His ground and pound was his biggest weapon in the fight using slicing elbows. One of those elbows cut Jousset around the right eye and the doctor called the fight off after the second round.
Grade: B-

Middleweight, Isi Fitikefu (6-0)

What was more impressive than his performance was the fighter Isi Fitikefu beat in Kitt Campbell. Campbell was a top prospect and close to the UFC but Isi dominated him en route to a decision win. Nothing was spectacular about the performance but Isi dominated with top control. Fitikefu at the start of each round took Campbell down with the single leg. At no point did Isi come close to finishing but held position and stayed active enough.
Grade: C

Flyweight, Rasul Albaskhanov (10-3)

Albaskhanov started off aggressive with a heavy kicking attack. He was taken down pretty early, that being his one downfall. His opponent was Jose Maria Tome, a veteran and former UFC fighter. Tome is very skilled on the mat but Albaskhanov was excellent off his back and kept Tome in his guard. Albaskhanov used a guillotine to reverse to get on top in a beautiful transition. Shortly after he tapped Tome to an arm triangle.
Grade: C+

Flyweight, Mariya Agapova (8-1)

A battle between two 2019 contender series fighters, Agapova easily beat Marilia Santos. Using her reach, Agapova used a lot of straight strikes and body kicks to keep the distance. Santos, once she got the clinch pulled guard and that was the beginning of the end. Agapova had to fight through an armbar and using her long length she landed some huge unanswered elbows until the ref stepped in.
Grade: B-

Middleweight, Anatoly Tokov (29-3)

Even though Darpinyan was four years the elder of the Russian, Tokov big-brothers him in this fight. Tokov was using foot sweeps and catching kicks to get the fight down where he was very dominant. He was constantly throwing leather in all positions on top as he was heavy but still floating on top. Tokov as soon as he passed to side control got the crucifix position as he had in rounds one and two. Once in that position in round two, Darpinyan was stuck and took a few elbows before the ref stepped in.
Grade: A-

Former ACB champ Anatoly Tokov (29-2) keeps pace in the MW title picture, outclassing Mousasi stablemate Hracho Darpinyan en route to a second-round, crucifix TKO. Fedor's protégé is 22-1 in his last 23 (5-0 in Bellator). He has stopped 23, 16 by knockout. #Bellator229 pic.twitter.com/O4kZYwb7XF

Welterweight, Joey Davis (6-0)

Not much happened before the finish but the evolution of “Black Ice” has been awesome. Davis came into Bellator known as a wrestler but has three highlight-reel finishes on the feet. Being a wrestler his opponent expected him to shoot but it was a flying knee to the face knocking the dude out cold. It was his biggest test to date in a 16-fight veteran in Jeff Peterson but it’s time for some top competition.

Bellator was back in the Inland Empire on Friday night with Bellator 229: Koreshkov vs. Larkin, with prelims streaming live online!

Bellator 229 went down Friday, back in Temecula at the Pechanga Casino and Resort. The main event saw a welterweight showdown the promotion had tried to put together before, with former champ Andrey Koreshkov taking on UFC and Strikeforce veteran Lorenz Larkin.

A win for either could put them within striking distance of the Rory MacDonald vs. Douglas Lima victor later in the month — although should Lima win that, it would be a hard sell to book a fourth fight with Koreshkov so soon.

Still, the card’s main event had title implications. It’s preliminary card, meanwhile, had a couple of key names, including Joey Davis, the Team Bodyshop prospect who was looking to keep his perfect record intact.

Check back come fight time for results and a live stream of the Bellator 229 preliminary card action! (note: some bouts will be held as post-lims are the event).
