The UFC has done some house cleaning, as a full eleven fighters appeared to be removed from the promotion’s roster on Wednesday.

As first noticed by automated service UFC Roster Watch, which monitors the UFC’s fighter database, the following athletes appear to be out of the organization:

Sijara Eubanks (7-7)

Mike Trizano (10-3)

Liudvik Sholinian (9-3-1)

Marcelo Rojo (16-9)

Jay Perrin (10-7)

Alejandro Perez (22-9-1)

Raulian Paiva (21-5)

Gadzhi Omargadzhiev (13-2)

Kevin Natividad (9-4)

Vince Marales (11-7)

Brandon Davis (14-10)

The removal of a fighter from the database does not necessarily mean they have been cut outright. As an example, a fighter may have fought out his or her current contract, and not been immediately re-signed (but could be brought back at a later date).

That having been said, some of the names revealed on Wednesday come as no surprise. Sijara Eubanks missed weight for her fight with Priscila Cachoeira just a week ago, resulting in the bout being scratched from the UFC Vegas 67 card. It was far from Eubanks’ first struggle with the scale: she lost her spot in The Ultimate Fighter 26 finale, where she would have competed for the promotion’s inaugural women’s flyweight title, due to a weight cut gone wrong.

Another weight miss followed in 2018, prompting a move to bantamweight. Eubanks then returned to flyweight last year, posting a 1-1 record while missing weight for a fight with Melissa Gatto.

Trizano won The Ultimate Fighter 27 tournament in 2018, and has gone 4-3 inside the octagon including the TUF 27 finale win. He last competed in November, knocking out Seung Woo Choi. Trizano fought out his contract in that bout; he feels like one name that could be brought back under the right circumstances, but that doesn’t look to be the case in the immediate future.

Mexico’s Alejandro Perez was 1-3 in his last four, while Jay Perrin just suffered defeat at the hands of teen phenom Raul Rosas Jr.

27-year old Raulian Paiva’s exit comes as a bit of a surprise. Paiva, who endured personal tragedy as he started his UFC run, has been ranked at both 125 and 135 pounds. He’s lost his last two.

Ukraine’s Liudvik Sholinian, a TUF 29 alum, went 0-2 in the UFC at bantamweight, though given the circumstances with his home country at war with Russia, seeing him gone is unfortunate.

Marcelo Rojo, who spent time at both bantamweight and featherweight, went 0-3 in his UFC run. Gadzhi Omargadzhiev and Kevin Natividad were both winless in their time in the promotion, while Vince Morales had lost his last two. Brandon Davis had lost both his fights since returning to the UFC in 2021. He first competed for the company from 2018-19.

Morales, for one, confirmed the news in entertaining fashion.

The youngest fighter in UFC history made his debut on Saturday night at UFC 282 in Las Vegas. Taking on Jay Perrin, 18-year old Raul Rosas Jr. was one of the stars of the show throughout fight week.

Rosas has earned his way into the UFC care of Dana White’s Contender Series, and had looked dominant doing so. But the competition was only going to get stiffer moving forward.

The teenage sensation made it look easy on Saturday night, electrifying the Las Vegas crowd at the T-Mobile Arena.

The fight started with Rosas shooting in early on a leg. He lifted Perrin up in the air with a high crotch but Perrin had good balance. Rosas did sneak around to the back where he dumped Perrin and took the back. It looked like he was going to slip off, but Rosas stayed tight and threatened the rear-naked choke.

Jay Perrin was calm and got to his feet with Rosas still on his back. But soon enough, Perrin went back down and Rosas sunk in the choke and secured to rear-naked choke again. It was tight, the finish was inevitable, and Perrin was soon tapping. With the win, Raul Rosas Jr. is now the youngest winning fighter in UFC history.

Official result: Raul Rosas Jr. def. Jay Perrin by submission (rear-naked choke), Round 1, 2:44

Jay Perrin has not seen the easiest road in the UFC so far. After taking a short notice bout with Mario Bautista, he was given tough Chinese prospect Qileng Aori in his sophomore bout. Even with the results not being what he imagined, Perrin believes that his fun performances has earned credit with the UFC brass. The results is a big fight that he feels almost is a favor to him – whether or not they intended it to be.

“I’ve been given no favors in the UFC, as far as opponents,” Perrin shared adding about his bout with 18-year old Raul Rosas Jr. “This one feels pretty close to a favor.”

Part of the reason that this fight feels that way for Perrin is that there is a lot of hype surrounding the fight. So much hype is on the fight, in fact, that it was bumped up to being the featured prelim for Saturday’s UFC 282. The other reason is that he doesn’t believe his young opponent is ready to handle what has been given to him.

“You’re putting a lot of pressure on a kid, man. You know what I mean? He’s a kid and he’s not a grown up,” he said. “People are really enamored with how old he is.”

Despite thinking that Rosas isn’t ready, Perrin does respect that he has skill. However, maybe just not the amount that justifies the amount of talk coming out.

“That’s not to say that he doesn’t have legitimate skill because he does, but he’s not polished,” Perrin said. “I wasn’t particularly impressed with how he got into UFC. I think again, people were stunned that an 17-year old could keep up with a grown man.”

As a result, Perrin expects this fight to start with a bang, but to end not that long after with another.

“It’s going to be an entertaining first round. He’s going to come at me like a bat out of hell, but a young man’s ego is going to be his downfall,” he said. “I’m going to give you a second round finish by way of TKO.”

Perrin’s bout with Raul Rosas takes place on the ESPN+ prelims this Saturday for UFC 282.

Las Vegas, NV – The youngest UFC fighter ever looks to make a massive statement at UFC 282 when Raul Rosas Jr. meets Jay Perrin inside the octagon on Saturday night.

Rosa Jr. (6-0) came into the UFC with a whole lot of hype and followed up with a good showing at Dana White’s Contender series in September. Fast-forward to this week and the young man is already speaking like a seasoned veteran.

“It’s just another day because it’s a different cage, different arena, but still one guy. I’m fighting just one guy. Same opponent, same as others, it’s a different name but he’s the same from everybody,” Rosas Jr. told Cageside Press among other media.

“There’s nothing different from that.”

Rosas Jr. isn’t walking around like a rookie or a fighter making his big numbered UFC event debut. The hype, the entourage, the attention has still caught the young fighter a little bit off guard.

“(This) was more than I anticipated, but I’m getting used to it. At first it was a little, like, I wasn’t used to it. But now I’m used to it and now it feels more normal. At first it was a little like awkward for me, but now it feels more normal,” he said.

He takes on Perrin (10-6) who didn’t get any favors coming into the UFC getting two very tough fights as his welcome to the promotion, and now faces Rosas Jr.

“I don’t think there’s nothing in his game that stands out so I’m just going to go out there and prove it on Saturday night that there’s levels to this, like I said. Somehow he’s got into the UFC, but Saturday night I’m just going to get the job done and finish him,” he said.

Rosas Jr. has said that he wants to become the youngest UFC champion ever saying he’d like to be champion by the time he’s 20-years-old.

“Saturday night what I’m going to do is I’m going to go out there and not only…for me it’s not only winning this fight on Saturday night. It’s about going out there and making a statement. So just to prove a point that I’m ready to face higher level competition. So I’m just going to show everybody that I’m levels above. The key to this fight is not only winning this fight, but also I’m going to win impressively,” said Rosas Jr.

“To show that I’m ready to fight higher level competition.”

Watch the entire media day scrum with Raul Rosas Jr. above. He takes on Jay Perrin at UFC 282 on Dec.3rd at T-Mobile Arena.

Las Vegas, NV – UFC bantamweight Jay Perrin is fine taking on up-and-comer Raul Rosas Jr at UFC 282 on Saturday night, in fact, he had no problem with it at all.

“Nope not at all. The way that I saw it was is that everybody’s got a hype train on them. Like I said I have respect for the skill that Raul has. I saw it as an opportunity. It is an opportunity for me because 18 or not people are watching. Hate me, love me, you’re going to watch,” Perrin told Cageside Press among other media on Wednesday.

“That’s really it. There’s a lot of hype behind the kid, maybe when I beat him, it won’t all be stolen but I’ll take a little bit of it. That’ll be a good launching point for me. It’s a big PPV, it’s the last one of the year, people are going to be watching. All eyes on me, in the words of Tupac.”

Perrin (10-6) comes into UFC 282 on a two-fight losing streak to start his UFC run off. He was given no favors when he got matched up with two of the best bantamweights in the division, but now he gets a young fighter with a lot of hype behind him coming off Dana White’s Contender Series.

“This is (my) opportunity to show people how good you are against an opponent that I really do match up quite well with. All the people in the betting lines can shove it is what they can do. I kind of figured I know why they picked me. It’s a mistake. I know I wasn’t he first choice, and I shouldn’t have been the third, fourth or fifth choice,” Perrin said.

“I think it’s an opportunity for me to show the world what I am, who I am, and how complete I am.”

Billy Quarantillo Interview (2:00)

Kicking off this edition of TTP is our interview with UFC featherweight, Billy Quarantillo. Quarantillo discusses the tough decision he had to make to pull out of his fight earlier this year against Bill Algeo. He shares information about the injury, but also why it was extra difficult given the venue for that fight. While losing that fight was rough, he was pumped to be offered possibly a bigger fight on yet another big pay-per-view card. He’ll face former ranked lightweight Alexander Hernandez at UFC 282.

Fights, Dogs, and Parlays: UFC 282 (17:10)

UFC Orlando gave us tons of action, but it’s no time to sit back and reflect. There’s yet another UFC card right around the corner and we’re breaking it down for you. UFC 282 comes at you live from the T-Mobile Arena in LAs Vegas. Headlined by a fight for the newly vacant light heavyweight title between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev, this one is packed with banger after banger. We’ll be breaking down some of the biggest fights on the card for you. Plus, we also have an underdog and a parlay that we think will make your wallet fat this Saturday. For this segment, all odds via FanDuel Sportsbook.

Jay Perrin Interview (29:09)

Closing out this week’s edition of TTP is an interview with UFC bantamweight, Jay Perrin. And boy, is Perrin fired up this week. He’ll face the highly touted 18-year old prospect, Raul Rosas Jr at UFC 282 and he’s got more than a few thoughts on the matchup. He goes in on the media that has been hyping Rosas up. He goes in on Rosas himself for all the trash talk. Perrin even goes in on Rosas’ skills and resume. You aren’t going to want to miss this one with “The Joker”, so tune in to the whole thing.

Bantamweights Aoriqileng and Jay Perrin faced off on the early prelims of UFC 278 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.

Both men’s wild-man style and never give up attitude caused this early card fight to be highly anticipated by many hardcore fans. As it turns out, the fight lived up to expectations and more.

Both men came out swinging to start the fight which quickly saw Perrin face some adversity when a big hook sent him stumbling. Aoriqileng found holes in his defense consistently, out-striking him for most of the first round. Perrin did try for takedowns periodically, only finding success in the final minute of the round, which was too little, too late.

The second round had a similar start to the previous one. Jay Perrin had more success with takedowns, getting one a minute into the round, but ‘The Mongolian Murderer’ was able to minimize damage and wall walk to get back up after another minute. Perrin got staggered again by a straight right hand halfway through the round but poured on the pressure late, working for takedowns, and ended the round walking down Aoriqileng to make the middle stanza close.

Aoriqileng appeared tired when coming out for the final stage and Perrin clearly noticed. His pressure was the story of the round. Later on, Aoriqileng found a second wind and rocked Perrin for a third and final time. From then on, it was all Perrin. His intensity and pace gave his foe trouble and the fight ended with the men trading hooks against the fence, but Perrin got the better of the exchange by far. Only Aori’s unreal chin saved him from being knocked down by the onslaught. A clear Perrin third round left the decision somewhat up in the air, but when the judges read it out it was Aoriqileng who received the unanimous nod from the judges, as they all presumably gave him the first and second rounds.

Aoriqileng has now won two straight, both in 2022.

Official Result: Aoriqileng def. Jay Perrin by unanimous decision (29–28, 29–28, 29–28)

Just two fights after falling short on Contender Series, Jay Perrin found himself with a short notice UFC debut against tough prospect Mario Bautista. While that might seem like a relatively quick comeback, the two and a half year wait was not an easy one for Perrin. In fact, at first, Perrin dealt with quite a bit of doubt surrounding his MMA future.

“For a while, dude, it didn’t seem that way. For a while after the Contender Series, I felt like I was owed something. I learned that nobody owes we anything. What I think I deserve isn’t necessarily what I do,” Perrin said. “That was a big lesson that I was taught. You just keep trucking forward and when it’s your time, it’s your time.”

But before he could learn that lesson, he went through some mental health struggles. While it was a difficult time for Perrin, it helped him begin to take things as they come and focus at the task at hand.

“After that one, I got real sad. I got fat for a minute, and I had a lot of soul searching to do,” he shared candidly. “There was a time where that question was asked – when do you think you’re going to be in the UFC? I can’t predict that. I can only do what’s in front of me.”

Ultimately, his love for the sport helped him through it. He remembered that it was something that he loved and that he knew that he belonged. Then he got back to work.

“I just remembered that I loved to do this. Obvious, the end goal is to be in the UFC and have a successful career, but I got back to ‘I love to do this’. I knew I belonged in the upper echelon of the sport,” Perrin said. “I just refocused into loving the sport again and just doing what I love every day. That helped the time go by better.”

Having gone through such a difficult path to get here, Perrin is now ready to put it all on the line to pick up that first UFC victory. That mentality is sure to produce an absolute banger.

“It might be the sleeper prelim of the card. Definitely pay attention to this fight because it’s going to be two guys who are trying to take each other’s heads off,” he said. “I’m going to come out of that cage with my shield or on it.”

Perrin will fight Qileng Aori on the ESPN+ prelims of UFC 278. That fight takes place this Saturday.
