Former UFC heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who went 2-0 for Dirty Boxing in 2025, is the latest combat sports athlete to land in trouble with the law.

Rozenstruik, 37, was arrested on Monday and hit with a pair of charges stemming from an altercation with a woman— domestic violence battery (touch or strike), and false imprisonment of person.

Cageside Press confirmed Rozenstruik’s arrest with Broward County, Florida officials following an initial report by MMA Junkie. Rozenstruik faced a relatively light bond of $3500 combined for the two charges, but was also placed on an immigration hold.

According the police records, Rozenstruik allegedly slapped a phone away from the unnamed complainant, attempted to kiss her, and bit her as part of an argument that took place inside a vehicle in Pembroke Pines, FL. When she attempted to exit the vehicle, Rozenstruik slapped her hand, and later took her to another location— leading to the false imprisonment charge.

Rozenstruik, who previously competed for both the UFC and RIZIN Fighting Federation after a stint in kickboxing, has not commented on the matter publicly. Originally from Suriname, “Bigi Boy” headlined six events for the UFC, and was ranked inside of the top 10 at heavyweight, though he never competed for the title. He was released by the promotion in February 2025 off a loss to Sergei Pavlovich.

Dirty Boxing, Misfits Boxing. It didn’t matter the promotion, it was a solid weekend for several UFC alums.

Jair Rozenstruik, who made his debut for Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship earlier this year, made it 2-0 in the company by defeating fellow mixed martial artist Rakim Cleveland to claim the promotion’s heavyweight title on Friday. Rozenstruik, who has shown the door by the UFC off a single loss (and having gone 2-2 in his last four fights with the company) landed an overhand left inside of two minutes into the opening round. That and a bit of follow-up was all that was needed for the TKO victory.

“Bigi Boy,” at 37, likely has a few more good years ahead of him in the heavyweight division. After the win, he was faced off with Andrei Arlovski, the former UFC heavyweight champ who will presumably be Rozenstruik’s first challenger. The pair have fought once before, at UFC 244 in 2019, where Jairzinho Rozenstruik won by knockout.

Over on Saturday’s Misfits Boxing card, it was Tony Ferguson at long last returning to the win column. An elated “El Cucuy” could be heard hollering “f*ck yeah!” after claiming a stoppage win in the third round. With social media influencer turned boxer Salt Papi hemmed in against the ropes, Ferguson unloaded with lefts and rights until the ref waved things off. No standing count, just a ref stoppage and a win for Ferguson, his first in any form of combat since 2019, when he embarked on an eight-fight skid that put an end to an impressive twelve-fight win streak.

Ferguson also earned a belt with the win, an interim middleweight title.

It wasn’t all sunshine for UFC alums however. Dirty Boxing Championship 3 saw Hector Lombard, arguably already too long in the tooth to still be fighting, knocked out by the unknown James Cannon. Jessica-Rose Clark (“Jessy Jess”), however, picked up a decision victory on that same card.

Following a loss to Serghei Pavlovich at UFC Saudi Arabia last weekend, heavyweight veteran and former RIZIN talent Jairzinho Rozenstruik was swiftly cut by the promotion.

Now, the kickboxer has opened up about just what went wrong in what turned out to be his final fight inside the octagon.

“Let’s talk about UFC Saudi Arabia,” Rozenstruik wrote on social media on Thursday, using the event’s hash tag. He’d go on to state that paint fumes inside the ANB Arena in Saudi Arabia, and an early injury, contributed to his performance in the fight.

“I came to Riyadh to win and pull off the upset. After a strong fight week, I felt dizzy on Saturday due to the paint fumes. Then, just 70 seconds into the fight, I injured my left foot. The moment my switch kick landed on his elbow, I felt it instantly and knew the fight would play out differently than planned,” Rozenstruik wrote.

“At the end of 2018, I signed my first contract with the UFC, embarking on an incredible journey. I’ve been honored to compete on the biggest stage, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to the UFC staff for their professionalism and support over the years. Thank you.”

“From being Rookie of the Year to becoming an MMA veteran, this has been an unforgettable adventure. While this chapter closes, my story is far from over. I will continue to fight, take on new challenges, and settle unfinished business in the cage,” he added.
I’m ready for whatever comes next!”

Jairzinho Rozenstruik, 36, holds a 15-6 record in MMA with wins over Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos, and Andrei Arlovski, among others. The Surinamese fighter picked up multiple titles in kickboxing prior to transitioning to MMA full time.

UFC Saudi Arabia featured a shorter 11-fight card and kicked off at an earlier time for North American fans. The co-main and main events featured a pair of promising middleweight showdowns that likely surprised many. The main event, between former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Nassourdine Imavov, was the only fight from the main card to end with a stoppage. And in the co-main event, a veteran striker in Michael Page outmaneuvered Shara Magomedov to hand “Bullet” his first professional MMA loss. Some interesting matchups to come out of the losers on this card as there are a couple of veterans in eerily similar situations.

Israel Adesanya

Nassourdine Imavov dropped and finished Israel Adesanya to hand ‘Style Bender’ a loss in his first fight without a UFC belt on the line since 2019. Adesanya briefly questioned the stoppage before showing a classy display of sportsmanship with his competitor.

Israel entered the fight ranked at #2 in the UFC’s middleweight division while Imavov came in at #5.

Adesanya has now lost four of his last five fights. That was his third loss in a row. This was his first fight off a PPV card since 2018. Definitely could be a change of tide here for Adesanya, he turns 36 this year and has been through many wars in the octagon. Adesanya’s combat sports career is far from over, but Izzy’s next fight will be a test to see if he is still currently competing on an elite level.

What better fight for Adesanya then to visit an old foe like Paulo Costa. Paulo is just outside middleweight’s top 10 at #11. Costa has also lost three of his last four fights. Costa’s only victory since August of 2019 was against Luke Rockhold in August of 2022. “The Eraser” last fought this past June when he dropped a split decision to Sean Strickland. Plenty of common opponents shared and an identical record in the last four fights. The pair’s first meeting showed just how elite Izzy is, but it was also before he suffered his first loss in MMA in the following fight. That defeat at the hands of Izzy was Costa’s first loss in MMA. Feels like this would be an interesting one to revisit and it would be a good test to reevaluate where Adesanya is at currently.

Adesanya’s next fight: Paulo Costa Rematch

Shara Magomedov

Michael Page outclassed Shara Magomedov to win a unanimous decision in a technical chess match in the co-main event of UFC Saudi Arabia.

A bitter pill for Magomedov to swallow as Page is coming off a loss to Ian Garry at welterweight last June. But definitely not a loss to hang his head about as MVP is as accredited as a point-fighting style striker as it gets.

Magomedov came into this fight just ranked at #14 in the UFC’s middleweight division while MVP was ranked at #15, in the 15lbs. lighter, welterweight division.

Shara’s next fight should be against another rising star that had a misstep in his most recent bout. What about a fight with Ikram Aliskerov? Ikram went 2-0 in the UFC with two first round finishes before stepping in to face Robert Whittaker last June on short notice. The bout didn’t go Aliskerov’s way, but he answered the call against a former UFC champion. Ikram was supposed to face a common opponent in Antonio Trocoli but the bout was cancelled. Aliskerov was supposed to be on UFC Saudi Arabia but his opponent, Andre Muniz, withdrew because of passport Issues. This fight could really shape the future of the division but if it’s not the direction the UFC would like to go in at this time, they could always match Shara up against a guy like Chris Curtis.

Magomedov’s next fight: Ikram Aliskerov or Chris Curtis

Jairzinho Rozenstruik

Jairzinho Rozenstruik gave up a unaimous decision to Sergei Pavlovich in what many fans in the arena felt was a lackluster heavyweight bout. Rozenstruik, much like his opponent, looked hesitant to engage as he dropped his second bout in five fights.

Rozenstruik entered the bout ranked at #9 in the UFC’s heavyweight division while his opponent was ranked at #4.

Sticking to an earlier loser’s edition for this pick. It still seems like a solid matchup for Rozenstruik to take on Serghei Spivac who was finished by Jailton Almedia a couple of weeks ago at UFC 311. Heavyweight really is a crowded division at the top ranks. These two also share common opponents and outcomes with Ciryl Gane (loss), Jailton Almeida (loss) and Tai Tuivasa (win). Making the fight make all the more sense, along with the time frames matching up.

In Rozenstruik’s performance Saturday, Pavlovich’s grappling attack was a large part of what triggered his loss. Spivac’s specialty is his ground game, but would he be able to get past the multifaceted striking of Rozenstruik?

Rozenstruik’s next fight: Serghei Spivac

Said Nurmagomedov

The wheels fell off on Saturday for Said Nurmagomedov as he started off strong but ran into a cardio issue late in his fight with Vinicius Oliveira. The bout scored Fight of the Night honors as the back-and-forth bantamweight scrap was high paced from start to finish. The unanimous decision defeat stings a little more as Said has not competed in the UFC since October of 2023. Nurmagomedov has had four fights canceled since March of 2023 with his withdrawal being the primary cancelation cause of three of those bouts.

Despite the timeframe, Said has lost two of his last three fights and is 7-3 in the UFC since signing in 2018. A good matchup for Said moving forward would be a fight against Victor Henry. Victor was last in action back in November when Charles Jourdain submitted him in the second round. Henry is 3-2, 1 NC in the UFC since signing in 2022. Victor has wins over Raoni Barcelos, Tony Gravey and most recently, Rani Yahya. Although Herny is 37, he is a complete fighter who is a challenge for most on the bantamweight roster and he has faced solid competition.

Nurmagomedov’s next fight: Victor Henry

Mike Davis

Mike Davis had his four-fight win streak snapped by Fares Ziam to start the main card of UFC Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The unanimous decision defeat was Mike’s first defeat since his 2019 submission loss then-lightweight Gilbert Burns. Davis is coming off a bicep tear last year that forced him out of a fight with Drew Dober. And now this.

Davis is a fun fighter, and another fun fighter fought on the undercard of UFC Saudi Arabia, Terrance McKinney. Terrance scored a first round TKO over his opponent, Damir Hadzovic, and has now won three of his last four fights.

McKinney has also fought both Dober and Ziam, although he was able to submit the latter in their 2022 bout. This fight could match up with time frame could be one that fans could really like to see. Not to mention, fireworks.

Mike’s next fight: Terrance McKinney

A pair of heavy hitters with nearly 30 knockout victories between them faced off at UFC Saudi Arabia, with Sergi Pavlovich looking to snap a two-fight skid against Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Suriname’s “Bigi Boy” Rozenstruik had picked up wins against Shamil Gaziev and Tai Tuivasa in 2024, while Russia’s Pavlovich had lost an interim title fight against Tom Aspinall, following by a pairing opposite Alexander Volkov.

It was Rozenstruik landing the first solid connection share of a cracking leg kick. Both men showed considerable respect for the other’s power, with lots of feints early on. The lack of action saw the crowd grow restless, but a couple of big swings, despite missing, drew an audible gasp from the masses. The pair then traded leg kicks, inside and inside, and Pavlovich landed upstairs after that, causing Rozenstruik to back off.

In the next exchange, Rozenstruik slipped off a counter, falling to his back and allowing Pavlovich to get on top. In a close, low-action frame, the control time and ground n’ pound might have been enough to secure the round for the Russian.

Pavlovich and Rozenstruik continued to stand toe-to-toe to open round two, Pavlovich feinting, Rozenstruik showing decent head movement. The opening two minutes of the frame saw little thrown and less connect, but Pavlovich would land a glancing blow in a rare exchange. The crowd continued to voice their displeasure, leading ref Mark Smith to instruct the fighters to get busy. Moments later, Pavlovich knocked Rozenstruik down with a punch that saw him stumble back; as he had in the first, Sergei got on top, this time in half guard. Just over 90 seconds were still on the clock; Jair tied things up on the bottom, or at least tried to, not giving the Russian any space in which to work.

It’s never a good sign when the fans are still booing after two rounds; for Jairzinho Rozenstruik, things looked even worse, with his corner urging him to find a finish early in the third. “F*ck five minutes” was the message, whether their fighter could respond was the question.

Instead of finding a finish, however, Rozenstruik found himself on his back less than two minutes into the round. The hulking Sergei Pavlovich got into half-guard once again, while Jair appeared unable to explode out. Just about the furthest thing from a threat off his back, Rozenstruik was essentially just playing defense, and although he did get back to his feet late in the third, the outcome was a forgone conclusion by that point.

Official Result: Sergei Pavlovich def. Jairzinho Rozenstruik by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

You can have power, but if you don’t reach your target, does it matter?

“Thing with power is you got to land to show it,” Rozenstruik told reporters on Wednesday.

“If you can’t land it you have no power basically.”

Rozenstruik (15-5) is no stranger to Pavlovich. The heavyweight revealed the two actually trained together for a while.

Quite a while.

“We used to train together. Two years,” he said.

Apparently the two sparred a lot during those two years, and it’s something thet

“I mean sparring is fighting. You don’t want to kill each other, but you have to do it as a fight. He might have something, he might (have) changed a lot, he changed gym,” he said.

“Soon as the fight start, and then it’s another thing. There’s no right or wrong in fighting.”

Include in that what he’ll be looking for with a win over Pavlovich at UFC Riyadh.

“A win this Saturday would definitely put me in the top five,” he said.

“I’m looking at fighting one more guy and then looking up to a title conversation.”

The #4 ranked heavyweight will defend his ranking in Saudi Arabia.

The fight against Aspinall was a short-notice interim title bout as the co-main event of UFC 295. After current heavyweight champion Jon Jones suffered an injury taking him out of his main event fight with Stipe Miocic the top of the card was reworked. Aspinall came out victorious and is the current interim heavyweight champion.

Prior to that loss Pavlovich had been on a 6-fight win streak.

Rozenstruik (15-5) has seen a resurgence as of late with two consecutive victories over Tai Tuivasa and Shamil Gaziev respectively. The #9 ranked heavyweight holds victories over Chris Daukaus, Augusto Sakai, Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem to name a few.

‘Bigi Boy’ entered the UFC in 2019 putting together four straight knockout finishes over Junior Albini, Allen Crowder, Andrei Arlovski and Overeem before running into Franci Ngannou in May 2020. That fight lasted 20-seconds and saw Rozenstruik suffer his first professional MMA loss.

UFC Saudi Arabia is set for Feb 1 and the card is currently as follows:

Sergei Pavlovich vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik

Ikram Aliskerov vs. Andre Muniz

Heading into UFC 305, plenty were ready to side against Dricus Du Plessis in a grudge match with Israel Adesanya, but the South African champ once again found a way to win. Now, coming off the biggest win of his career to date, Du Plessis not only remains champ but is being targeted by some of the sport’s biggest stars, including Alex Pereira. What comes next for Stillknocks and other big winners from Saturday? We’ll try to answer that now.

Dricus du Plessis

No matter how he gets it done, the fact remains — Dricus du Plessis knows how to win fights. Despite looking ragged from body shots in the fourth round, his insatiable drive spurred him to victory, catching rival Israel Adesanya with a right hand before following him to the ground to lock up a submission finish.

There are two obvious options for the South Africa’s next fight: Sean Strickland or the winner of Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev. Personally, I think Rob or Khamzat would deserve it more since Strickland only won one fight since losing the belt to du Plessis himself. However, Dana White has already stated that Strickland will be next to face Dricus, and he has the power to decide those things, of course.

Du Plessis’ Next Fight: Sean Strickland 2

Kai-Kara France

New Zealand’s Kai-Kara France impressed in a way that people usually do not associate with flyweights when he knocked Steve Erceg out cold on Saturday. He has now rebounded from two straight losses, but the second of those losses was a decision against Amir Albazi that most people thought he won.

Albazi has sat out for a year due to injury and with this win Kai has earned a rematch. The winner would then find themselves in a title fight or at least a number one contender bout.

France’s Next Fight: Amir Albazi 2

Dan Hooker

In the immediate aftermath of Dan Hooker’s win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305, Hunter Campbell was quoted as saying that Hooker would fight Charles Oliveira next. That fight would be incredible; they have been in the same division for a long time putting on exciting fights, but have never crossed paths.

Now that they will do so, it’s anybody’s guess as to who will win. Whoever it is though, they will be firmly entrenched in the top-five at lightweight and ready to challenge for the belt next, perhaps, after Arman Tsarukyan’s much-deserved title shot.

Hooker’s Next Fight: Charles Oliveira

Jairzinho Rozenstruik

Although one judge bafflingly gave Tai Tuivasa a 30-27 scorecard, Jairzinho ‘Bigi Boi’ Rozenstruik was the one who walked out of the cage the victor after a confident striking performance, his second in a row. Now with a two fight winning streak in hand it is time for the Surinamese fighter to face one of the other big hitters of heavyweight – Derrick Lewis – in a bout that could end at any moment with one punch from either man. Lewis will just have to get past Alexander Romanov in Edmonton first.

Rozenstruik’s Next Fight: Derrick Lewis

Carlos Prates

Brazil’s Carlos Prates has taken the welterweight division by storm with three knockout wins in as many UFC fights, but now the real tests begin. He is on the fringe of having a number next to his name and should fight someone else who is in the same boat.

After a three fight losing streak, Michael Chiesa bounced back with a win over Tony Ferguson, but it did not tell us much. He would be a new threat for Prates, a strong grappler, while Carlos would be a young, hungry, powerful hitter who would test if Chiesa himself is ready to return to the rankings.

Prates’ Next Fight: Michael Chiesa

The post What’s Next: UFC 305 Winners appeared first on Cageside Press.

Australian heavyweight Tai Tuivasa looked to snap a perilous four-fight skid when he faced off with Jairzinho Rozenstruik on the PPV portion of UFC 305 on Saturday.

The Perth, Australia-based card found Tuivasa having lost to fighters including Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov during that slump. Former kickboxer and RIZIN veteran Rozenstruik, for his part, entered off a win over Shamil Gaziev.

The fight opened with an exchanges of kicks, with both men looked reserved. About a minute in, they opened up in a little flurry, which left Tuivasa circling on the outside. Tai was using plenty of feints, which led to a bit of a chess match/feeling out process. A big swing and a miss on a leg kick swung Tuivasa around; Rozenstruik would fire a kick up high a moment later, which was blocked. Heading into the final 90 seconds of the round, kicks were the best weapon either man had employed. Rozenstruik, however, added a shot to the body.

Tuivasa got going in the second, firing his right hand and drawing a reaction from both Rozenstruik and the crowd. A moment later, Tai landed the right, then unleashed a flurry. Rozenstruik was forced to back up, but Rozenstruik uncorked a left that clipped Tai! These two big men were full throttle now. Tuivasa again backed Rozenstruik up, but had to be wary of the counter.

It was still anyone’s fight, but Tuivasa appeared to hurt himself off a kick. Hopping gingerly, Tuivasa now had to contend with Rozenstruik pouring it on. Tuivasa battled back, marching Rozenstruik down, bad leg or no. Too much of the first two rounds, however, had been fought at Jair Rozenstruik’s pace, something Tuivasa would have to mitigate in the third round if he had any hope of a win.

Tuivasa was looking to land his right hand early in the third, hunting the knockout blow. He fired a front kick, if nothing else showing his leg was holding together. Rozenstruik touched the lead leg with a kick. Rozenstruik landed a punch, Tuivasa answered back, and they traded kicks to the body. Plenty of back-and-forth played out in the third, but time, as it usually does, became a factor. Tai needed a finish, and over-committed on a right. Another one fanned, and Tuivasa signaled that he’d been clipped low, but opted to continue with no break.

The final 90 seconds found Tuivasa unable to find the finish he needed, though not for lack of effort. He couldn’t find a way inside until the final 20 seconds however, where he finally clipped Rozenstruik mere seconds before the final horn.

Come the scorecards, Rozenstruik took what appeared to be an obvious decision win – but judge Howie Booth, in a particular questionable bit of judging, scored it 30-27 for Tai.

Official Result: Jarizinho Rozenstruik def. Tai Tuivasa by split decision (29-28, 27-30, 30-27)

“His power was…I’m fighting heavyweight so we can take a punch or two, but it was more I hadn’t been training. I went in and I was f*cking running out of breath and getting the sh*t punched out of me,” Tuivasa said with a grin.

“But that’s the sport we do. It’s all fun and games.”

With Rozenstruik the fans can expect an all hands affair with both men preferring to strike and skip the grappling.

“I supposed it’s a good fight for both of us. I’ve been watching him for a while now,” he said.

“They’re usually the fights I like to take and challenge myself. I’m looking forward to it.”
