“I feel like you don’t see a lot of heavyweights move until the fact that like we were moving, but he was cutting angles. It was a great fight,” Pinson told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.

“It’s kind of what you want. Obviously you’re going in there for the knockout. I’ve got to put my name on the map, but it was a banger of a fight so I can’t complain.”

The judges’ split decision showed how close the fight really was between the two heavyweights. Pinson’s corner made him aware of how close it the fight could be.

“I knew it was a close call. Going into the third my coach is like ‘1-1, maybe 2-0 you’. And I looked at him and I was like ‘1-1’. That was my mindset going into the third. It’s way too close for comfort, and man he was a game fighter,” Pinson told Cageside Press.

“I didn’t expect the movement and the angles that he brought so he forced me to work for my shots. Work for every punch that I landed. I had to change up my game plan, and that’s my goal man I want to be able to adapt to any circumstance that I’m put in.”
