Bare Knuckle FC was back in action Saturday night, and we’ve got highlights from the event. BKFC 10 saw the bare knuckle debut of Hector Lombard, former UFC fighter and Bellator MMA middleweight champ.

It also saw quarterfinal action in a 155lb tournament that will crown the promotion’s inaugural champion in the weight class.

In the main event, Lombard and Mundell took some big swings. But surprising many, neither man came out and went full tilt. Rather than brawl, their power shots were measured, allowing them to go the full five rounds. Ultimately, Lombard took home the decision in what was a close fight, with two judges giving him three rounds out of five.

The co-main event, part of the aforementioned 155lb tournament, saw former UFC fighter Jim Alers pick up another bare knuckle win. The majority decision victory was only marred by the fact that it was a majority decision on one scorecard, with a 47-47 being handed down in a fight that most saw Alers as clearly winning.

Full results plus photo and video highlights can be found below!

Jim Alers takes on Kaleb Harris at BKFC 10. It’s part of a 155lb tournament looking to crown the inaugural champ in the weight class, so expect this fight to be fire.

The BKFC 10 card unfolds Saturday, February 15 at Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Alers vs. Harris is a quarterfinal bout in the tournament. Alers and Harris have both scored highlight-reel KOs and the extra motivation of capturing a title will likely result in a barn-burner here.

BKFC 10

This chance to capture some hardware in BKFC has been a long time coming for Jim Alers. “It’s a lot, man. I’m excited about it. I’ve always felt already I should be crowned the champion,” Alers revealed to Cageside Press ahead of the fight. “But I know BKFC wants us to do this tournament. Which is cool, I get it. I’m pretty confident going into it. Kaleb is overall a nice guy and a hard hitter. I’m excited to see where this fight’s going to go.”

It’s a great time to be Jim Alers and it seems like things are reaching a crescendo for him. Alers stated, “I like that I’m getting the recognition that I feel that I deserve. I never thought that I was going to go this far with the promotion but after my first fight and especially the Garcia fight. It was such an honor to fight someone like that and just kind of finish Garcia the way I did.”

A crazy journey considering Alers initially saw bare-knuckle boxing as a bit of a one-off curiosity. Alers remarked, “It was just like ‘Hey, let me give this a try.’ They reached out to me actually before I ever watched any. I went back and took a look at it. It doesn’t look as bad as it sounds.

At least thus far, “I haven’t been cut up. I haven’t been into one of those wars yet out of three fights,” he added.

The Police Gazette Title

Though becoming the inaugural BKFC champ in his division is important, Alers also wants the Police Gazette belt too. Alers said, “It would mean so much to be a police gazette champion. To be in the bare-knuckle hall of fame. Just be a part of history. That would be great.”

Though Alers did score some striking stoppages in MMA, he was primarily known as a Jiu-Jitsu player. The transition to BKFC has yielded him several highlight-reel stoppages with his fists.

“For me, MMA I always went to my bread and butter. I used my striking but not to knock people out. I used it to get people to put their hands up and then take them down. Then I submitted them,” Alers explained. “Now I’m strictly focusing mostly on my standup to finish the fight. If I rock you, I’m gonna try to finish you.”

Training is also a lot lighter on the body for BKB as compared to MMA. He still trains everything all the time but there’s not as hard of a push with wrestling anymore. Speaking of mixed-martial arts, Alers lost to Jason Knight in MMA and there have been many talks about a BKFC rematch.

On that front, Alers stated, “That’s the one fight in my career that I actually felt like I got beat”

“It was close, people say ‘oh man, you won.’ I looked at it and I felt like I lost,” he admitted. The sequel will be put on the back-burner for now as the 155lb title tournament obligations will occupy his attention for the year. Which means his attention is squarely focused on Kaleb Harris at BKFC 10 and advancing further in the 155lb title tournament.

Hector Lombard takes on David Mundell at BKFC 10, and it marks the first foray into bare knuckle boxing for the former Bellator champ and UFC competitor.

BKFC 10 goes down Saturday, February 15 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lombard vs. Mundell is the main event tilt and is slated to go down in the cruiserweight division. Mundell is 2-0 with two stoppage wins early and has gone spotless under the BKFC banner. After a rough stint in the UFC, Lombard is firing on all cylinders, ready to make his bare-knuckle debut against a proven opponent.

BKFC 10

The inaugural Bellator middleweight champion has obviously altered his training methodology ahead of his BKFC debut. “Boxing with no gloves. It’s more specific,” Lombard told us recently. “I’m only training with my wraps that I invented. I have the patent for it.”

In terms of future trends in combat sports, Lombard is putting a lot of stock in the progress of his countrymen but also the progress of his new combat discipline.

“I think I couldn’t be happier. I always wanted to fight bare knuckle and bare-knuckle’s going to be like one of the main sports in the future,” said Lombard. “Why I’m saying this is because I mentioned something and people kind of laugh at me but I remember when back in the day when I say ‘watch out. The southern fighters are at one point going to be the best fighters in the whole world’… They’re going to be at one point the best fighters in the whole world.”

Lombard continued, adding “Now you can see how many champions come from my country. In the same way, watch out for bare-knuckle because bare-knuckle is going to be the future of sports.”

Hector Lombard Returns

Initially, the BKFC debutant was supposed to clash with Joe Riggs but an injury caused an opponent switch for Lombard. Though David Mundell brings different stylistic considerations to the table, the approach remains very similar for Hector Lombard.

“It changes my preparation because it’s a different person. The main goal is the same. Just go out there and knock him out,” observed Lombard. “I saw, he looks very aggressive. But I’m prepared, it’s time. I’m going to put on a show and I’ve got to come out victorious. because I’m hungry.”

“This sport you cannot f*ck around with. You can get caught and get beat up badly,” Lombard finished. “So it’s kind of like, I will be on the edge and I just don’t want to get hit. Especially without gloves. In MMA at the end I was kind of like comfortable and boring at the same time. But I actually don’t want to get hit with no gloves, to be honest. So it’s kind of bringing a new me.”

Bare Knuckle FC promotional figurehead David Feldman is fired up for BKFC 10, which transpires Saturday, February 15. The event emanates from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Hector Lombard vs. David Mundell tops the marquee in a cruiserweight affair. The event also showcases the quarterfinal bouts in the promotion’s latest tournament to crown a champion. They’re vying for the 155lb title, and the winner will need to get by some of BKFC’s finest to do so.

BKFC 10

David Mundell is stepping up for an injured Joe “Diesel” Riggs, who was supposed to initially toe the line with Lombard. “After talking to the team internally, this is about putting on great fights. It’s not about just having names, said Feldman. “We said David Mundell, 2-0 two knockouts in bare-knuckle. Tough dude, right about the same size as Hector Lombard, and same build.”

Jim Alers and Kaleb Harris are lined up to face one another in the tournament for the inaugural BKFC 155lb title. Both are unbeaten and with big KOs on their highlight reels

“We’ve been talking about starting a 155lb tournament and we wanted to start it on this card. Jim was vying for a title shot immediately. I just said ‘look, you’ve definitely earned it. You’re in the position to fight for the championship but that’s just not how we do things,'” Feldman stated. “All the champions are going to go through tournaments and that’s how we’re going to build our champions.”

Signings are to be announced soon about possible adversaries for Jim Alers and Jason Knight. Alers is looking to compete at 155 going forward and isn’t necessarily looking to fight Knight at 145. As was theorized when Knight defeated Lobov in their rematch.

The other end of the 155lb title tourney pits Elvin Brito against Luis Palomino. Feldman remarked, “We’ve been talking to Palomino for a while.”

“He’s a huge draw there. He’s a legend in Miami. Street fighting, MMA, just any type of fighting,” explained the BKFC exec. “Luis Palomino’s name comes up… Elvin Brito is a tough dude. Jim Alers did end up knocking him out but he caught him with some good shots.”

David Feldman

BKFC 10 also features arguably the most proficient queensberry rules boxer to step into the ring for bare-knuckle fighting championships.

That would be Dat Nguyen. “He was like the sweetest science when he fought his last fight. It was unbelievable. Just the little things he was doing,” observed Feldman. “Dat showed what it was to be a really skilled professional boxer, and probably aside from Paulie Malignaggi, the most skilled professional boxer that we’ve had in a BKFC ring so far.”

One of BKFC’s best 135lb fighters will step back into the ring shortly after campaigning for BKFC gold. Feldman said, “Reggie Barnett will be fighting Matt Murphy. When I made that fight and shared it with the team they were like ‘man, that’s fight of the night.” In all, when it comes to BKFC 10, it’s “another exciting card that we’re putting out there.”

There are also big things in store for the promotion. “We’re working on a couple of deals right now. Television network deals that are going to let us bring this to the masses. When that happens, I think the floodgates just really open after that.”

In summation, David Feldman stated, “I think it’s going to be a really, really great 2020. 2021 is where we start really, really taking off.”
