UFC on ESPN 60 / UFC Vegas 94 on Saturday featured an undercard of fights that had just one finish. The main card, however, completely delivered with five of six fights ending in a stoppage. All of the night’s performance bonuses were, in fact, delivered to fighters on the main card. In the main event, Virna Jandiroba all but cemented herself as the next strawweight title challenger with her submission victory over Amanda Lemos. Multiple fighters will need to pick up the pieces after devastating stoppages and look for their next opponents after Saturday’s card.

Amanda Lemos

In the main event of UFC Vegas 94, Amanda Lemos was armbar’d in the second round by surging contender Virna Jandiroba. Lemos entered the fight as the #3 ranked UFC women’s strawweight. Jandiroba entered the fight the #5 ranked women’s strawweight and will likely be next in line for a title shot at 115lbs.

Tatiana Suarez should be the next fighter that Lemos faces. Lemos has only beaten #7 ranked Mackenzie Dern since losing to Weili Zhang for the belt last August. If Lemos is able to beat the #1 ranked UFC women’s strawweight in Suarez, then that would put her right back in line for title contention. Lemos was also temporarily matched up to face Tatiana Suarez in February, but Suarez withdrew.

Lemos’s next fight: Tatiana Suarez

Seung Woo Choi

Seung Woo Choi was added to Steve Garcia’s finish streak in the co main event of UFC Vegas 94. ‘Sting’ is now 4-6 with the UFC and has lost four of his last five bouts. His last win was against Jarno Errens in August of last year. Perhaps a fight against a fighter in-between weight classes or battling back in their career as well would be the best fit.

Julio Arce or Alexander Hernandez would be excellent competitors to fight against Seung Woo Choi in his next bout at 145lbs.

Arce was last in the octagon back in March when he missed weight ahead of his second-round finish against Herbert Burns. The fight was at 145lbs. However, the four fights prior to that one were at bantamweight where he went 2-2. And he’s also missed weight at 135lbs. He’s a 2017 Contender Series product that began his 6-4 UFC career with 5 fights at featherweight.

Alexander Hernandez is also a solid pick that is in a similar position. Hernandez has lost four of his last five fights. Three of those five fights have been at featherweight. Hernandez is 6-7 in the UFC and although he has had many notable fights at 155lbs. has started an experiment at featherweight in recent years. Alexander was last in action back in April when he lost a co main event via split decision at the hands of Damon Jackson.

Choi’s next fight: Julio Arce or Alexander Hernandez

Kaynan Kruschewsky

Kaynan Kruschewsky lost a unanimous decision to TUF 31 winner Kurt Holobaugh on Saturday. Kruschewsky is now 0-2 in the UFC since signing with the promotion last year as a result of his Contender Series win.

Undoubtedly Kaynan is in a tough spot as a lightweight and will have to fight for his roster spot. Cage Warriors veteran Michal Figlak would be a good fight for Kruschewsky. Michal last fought in April when he lost a unanimous decision to Austin Hubbard (Hubbard was the man who Holobaugh beat to win TUF 31). In his UFC debut he lost a unanimous decision to Fares Ziam. Solid fight to make for two winless fighters at lightweight.

Kruschewsky’s next fight: Michal Figlak

Cody Durden

Cody Durden was stopped when Bruno Silva completed an improbable comeback to finish him in the second round of their fight on Saturday. Durden entered the fight at the #14 slot in the UFC’s flyweight divison, while his opponent was unranked.

Durden should fight the winner of the Jafel Filho vs. Allan Nascimento on August 10th. Jafel Filho is a 2022 Contender Series product. Filho has finished both of his wins, and his only loss is to (#6 ranked UFC flyweight) Muhammed Mokaev in March of last year. Allan Nascimento is also 2-1 in the UFC, has finished his most recent opponent and his only loss in the UFC, is a split decision to (#13 ranked UFC Flyweight) Tagir Ulanbekov.

Durden’s next fight: Jafel Filho vs. Allan Nascimento Winner

Bill Algeo

Bill Algeo was finished in a wild back-and-forth fight to Doo Ho Choi on Saturday. Algeo is now 5-5 with the UFC, though all of the 2019 Contender Series alum’s losses have been to names. (Ricardo Lamas, Ricardo Ramos, Andre Fili, Kyle Nelson)

Charles Jourdain should be Algeo’s next fight. Jourdain has also last his two fights, both having been in 2024, as well. Jourdain was finished for the first time in his career nearly a month ago at the hands of Jean Silva. With a similar record to Algeo at 6-7-1 in the UFC and having faced mutual opponents in Andre Fili, Doo Ho Choi, and Ricardo Ramos, this would be a great striking matchup.

Algeo’s next fight: Charles Jourdain

Jeong Yeong Lee

To open the UFC Vegas 94 main card on Saturday, Jeong Yeong Lee lost a barn burner fight at the hands of Hyder Amil. Jeong Yeong Lee, the winner of Road to UFC in 2022, is now 2-1 with the promotion.

Morgan Charriere should be Jeong Yeong Lee’s next fight. Charriere was signed to the UFC from the Cage Warriors promotion last year. He is 1-1 with the UFC and the majority of his career stoppages are from KO/TKO. Morgan was last in action in April when he lost a split decision to Chepe Mariscal. He was recently slated to fight AJ Cunningham on September 28th. AJ is a 2023 Contender Series product that is 0-1 in the UFC. He was last in action against L’udovit Klein earlier this year and was finished in the first round.

The winner of this bout would be a good fight for Lee.

Lee’s next fight: Morgan Charriere vs. AJ Cunningham Winner

Expected to be one of the more exciting bouts the UFC Vegas 94 card was a featherweight bout between Doo Ho Choi and Bill Algeo.

Choi (14-1) was still looking for his first UFC win following a long layoff to fulfill his military duties in his home country of South Korea. Since returning he’s fought to a draw with Kyle Nelson and looked to make a statement at the UFC APEX.

Algeo (18-8) was also coming off a loss to Nelson. With a very up-and-down fight record since entering the UFC Algeo looked to get back into the winning column against Choi.

Round 1 both men came out calm until Algeo decided to rush in with a takedown. Choi jumped the guillotine Dustin Poirier style, but Algeo was able to defend it well. Once back to their feet they clinched on the fence and Choi got Algeo with a throw. After taking the back and almost getting the choke Algeo was able to take top position with Choi’s back on the fence.

After a minute of grappling and Choi getting back to his feet Algeo stayed aggressive landing a big right hand followed by a spinning elbow that landed clean. Once Choi looked for distance Algeo rushed in, put Choi on the fence, then took him down taking top position.

They got back to their feet, Algeo looked to stay on Choi with a takedown, but Choi jumped the guillotine again after landing some knees to the head. Algeo popped his head out and the round ended.

Round 2 the pace slowed considerably to start the round, but Algeo used rush attacks with multiple strikes while Choi picked his shots carefully. After some grappling by Choi he popped up and landed a shot on Choi, but Algeo stayed aggressive.

The fight ender was a left hand by Choi that caused Algeo to sort of wave at Choi and the ref stopped the fight. The left hook may have badly damaged that right eye of Algeo’s and he knew it.

After the fight Choi was very emotional saying that he felt he let a lot of people down, and happy to have The Korean Zombie in his corner saying, “He treats me like his little brother.”

Official Result: Doo Ho Choi def. Bill Algeo via R2 TKO, 3:38

Another week, another six-fight UFC main card and Fight Night that saw some extremely entertaining fights and a lot of finishes. Eight total finishes on UFC Atlantic City including three on the main card.

In the main event, a likely title eliminator for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship, in which contender Erin Blanchfield lost a unanimous decision to Manon Fiorot.

A few fighters will need to reevaluate where they fit into the elite crop of fighters and for some others where they fit into the organization as a whole.

Erin Blanchfield

Erin Blanchfield lost just her second professional MMA bout on Saturday night; her last one was to Tracy Cortez in February of 2019.

The 24-year-old’s six-UFC-fight unbeaten streak was snapped by Manon Fiorot and done so in a decisive manor as the youngster was shut down in many of aspects of her game but especially the striking department. 45-50 scores from all three judges.

Blanchfield’s UFC record boasts wins over the likes of fighters like: Miranda Maverick, JJ Aldrich, Jessica Andrade and Taila Santos.

Currently, UFC flyweight champion Alexa Grasso is coaching on The Ultimate Fighter: Season 32, opposite of former champ and #1 contender, Valentina Shevchenko. With Manon’s win over Blanchfield, it positions her to likely be next for a title shot.

However, due to TUF 32 filming, this fight could easily be delayed. A world where Manon has to defend her spot from the likes of Maycee Barber is not a far-fetched one, at all. If that ends up being the case Blanchfield would be out of her next fight.

Rose Namajunas would be a great back up opponent for Blanchfield as she just competed last Saturday at UFC Vegas 89. Namajunas won her fight last weekend against Amanda Ribas and lost a decision to Manon Fiorot in her flyweight debut. It’d be another high-level competitor for Blanchfield, in a former champion like Rose. Timelines would match up and they have similar fight results to a common opponent. (Both lost decisions to Manon)

Blanchfield’s next fight: Maycee Barber or Rose Namajunas

Vicente Luque

Vicente Luque entered his fight at UFC Atlantic City with a #11 ranking in the UFC’s welterweight division. Luque was originally slated to take on #8 ranked UFC welterweight, Sean Brady on Saturday night. However, Brady would withdraw from the fight, leaving room for an unranked Joaquin Buckley to step up, in his place.

The worst thing that could happen for Luque Saturday night, happened, as he both lost and was finished by a fighter that didn’t have a ranking, while ranked.

Luque has kind of struggled as of late and has now only won three of his last four, although only faltering to elite level competition. Buckley became just the second fighter to finish Luque in his very-respectable 21-fight UFC career.

For Luque, I think it’s time to take the foot off of the throttle as far as the matchmaking is concerned. The result of this fight essentially moves Vicente out of the Top 15.

Luque has fought some very dangerous men and only lost to some of the best fighters. Luque lost a five-round fight against Belal Muhammad in 2022 and lost to Geoff Neal via a vicious third round stoppage later that year.

The only win Vicente has picked up since mid 2021 is against a nearly 39-year-old Rafael dos Anjos. A solid win, but not necessarily enough to move into the top 15 of the welterweight division currently.

Almost exactly one year ago, Li Jingliang pulled out of his bout with #15-ranked Michael Chiesa due to a spinal injury. “The Leech” had built momentum steadily and taken out some solid names like Elizeu Zaleski, Santiago Ponzinibbio and Muslim Salikhov.

It’d be a great fight to evaluate just exactly where each fighter is in their respective careers.

Luque’s next fight: Jingliang Li

Bruno Silva

This fight and finish would have a lot of controversy around it as both fighters especially Silva, suffered from eye pokes on multiple occasions.

The end of the fight would see Silva moving forward and striking with Weidman utilizing a long guard. Thats when the pokes would occur, so bad, that judges judged the fight as a whole. From a TKO to a unanimous decision win for Weidman.

With the loss on Saturday night, Silva has now lost five of his last six fights. Of course, some of those losses are against stiff competition including the current UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, 23-5 fighter Brendan Allen and budding undefeated contender Shara Magomedov who now has a 12-0 record.

So, taking that into account, Andre Petroski would be a good next opponent for Silva. Petroski fought on the same card and lost to Jacob Malkoun. Andre is on a two-fight losing streak. Petroski and Bruno Silva both have a unanimous decision win over a common opponent in Wellington Turman.

And even though Petroski is 5-2 with the UFC this will be a step up for him as Silva has the experience.

Silva’s next fight: Andre Petroski

Sedriques Dumas

Dumas looked like he had a little trouble finding his opponent in his fight on Saturday night at UFC Atlantic City. Nursulton Ruziboev, Dumas’ opponent, is very experienced and has about as many wins in his lead up to fighting in the UFC, as Dumas does in his entire career.

The end of this fight would also not be without its share of controversy. Dumas fell victim to an open framing lead hand that brushed his face and poked his eye. Much like in the Weidman vs. Silva fight, this poke led to the finish.

Sedriques is now 2-2 with the UFC, with his other loss coming in his debut back in March of 2023. (Second round submission to Josh Fremd).

Dumas could have a solid opponent in the loser of Julian Marquez vs. Zach Reese fight. That fight is scheduled for June 8. Or, if either fighter falls out ahead of the bout, Dumas would be a solid replacement.

Marquez is a 2017 Contender Series project that is 3-3 with the UFC, has lost his last two fights and been plagued by injury. Reese is a 2023 Contender Series project that is 0-1 in the UFC with a loss to Cody Brundage. Dumas only has 12 pro fights so a fight against fight Julian or Marquez would be appropriate.

Dumas’ next fight: Loser of Julian Marquez vs Zach Reese

Bill Algeo

Algeo had not been finished in the UFC and was only finished two other times in his career, most recently in 2014 against Shane Burgos.

Bill had won four of his last five heading into UFC Atlantic City, only having lost a split decision to Andre Fili in September of 2019.

Truly a heart-breaking loss for Algeo. Last week, What’s Next: UFC Vegas 89 Losers article, mentioned that Billy Quarantillo not only has a win over a common opponent in Alexander Hernandez but also that the two were supposed to fight back in July of 2022.

Just so happened to work out that this fight would now be a perfect one to make and it’d make sense. Not to mention it will be a great fight as both fighters are very entertaining.

Algeo’s next fight: Billy Quarantillo

Rhys McKee

With the loss on Saturday night, Rhys McKee is now 0-4 in the UFC. To be incredibly fair to McKee, he has never missed weight, always fought hard and has taken on the likes of Khamzat Chimaev, Alex Morono, Ange Loosa and now, Chidi Njokuani. Very good competition and Chimaev was the only fighter to finish him.

Rhys was in the fight against Chidi early but then his striking output dropped off wildly in the second and third rounds. Rhys was also notably unsuccessful with his takedown attempts after the first round.

Njokuani did an excellent job of countering Rhys and his jab and towards the end of the bout McKee’s cardio was suffering badly (to be fair, so was his opponent’s).

It’s tough to come up with an opponent for McKee as regardless of the competition four losses is four losses. The loser of McKee’s next fight will most likely be cut.

A Contender Series fighter or another fighter that is looking to keep their roster spot would work best. AJ Fletcher would be a good fight as they both have lost a decision to Ange Loosa and Fletcher is 1-3 with the UFC.

McKee’s next fight: AJ Fletcher

Atlantic City – Coming off a big victory at UFC Atlantic City featherweight Kyle Nelson is looking for a big fight against Nate Landwehr next.

“Nate has been on my radar for a long time. We fought on UFC Vancouver in Canada together,” Nelson told reporters including Cageside Press on Saturday night.

“All the 145ers are on my radar. Nate had a good performance tonight. He likes to stand and bang, I like to stand and bang, so it makes sense to me.”

Nelson (16-5-1) scored a big finish over Bill Algeo later in the night, but Landwehr’s performance intrigued ‘The Monster’.

“It’s probably going to be pretty similar to the one that I just had. Nate’s also a very tough guy. I think I’m going to hit him with some hard shots, and this time we’ll see him go to sleep,” he said.

The Canadian featherweight took the brunt of the boos from the crowd before, during and after the fight.

“Once upon a time I wanted to please everybody, but that’s just not the game. I’m always the away guy I’m never going to please anybody. As long as my coaches are happy, my fiance, my kids, my family is happy, that’s the only people I care about,” Nelson said.

“I want to be super respectful with my opponent, but if you’re some drunk guy in the crowd and you want to boo, you’re going to get a piece of my mind.”

Watch the entire post-fight scrum with Kyle Nelson above.

A pair of featherweights on two-fight win streaks collided on Saturday’s UFC Atlantic City main card, with Bill Algeo taking on Canadian Kyle Nelson.

While Algeo opted to start the fight with some technical work including well-placed kicks, Nelson turned things into a brawl. Algeo appeared to slip, and Nelson, a.k.a. “The Monster,” began swinging wild. Algeo found himself up against the fence, but he was able to tie things up for a bit.

Back at center, Algeo continued with his kicks, while Nelson appeared to fire a spinning back leg kick, not exactly the most effective technique. More effective was the power in Nelson’s hands, keeping Algeo on his toes.

Moments later, that power connected. Nelson landed a massive right hand, and Algeo was rocked, and on skates. “The Monster” attacked just like one, charging forward and taking some big swings, hooks and uppercuts. Many missed, but enough got through to keep Algeo from fully recovering. Algeo was backpedaling, and Nelson connected a few more times while charging forward before the ref waved things off. Algeo didn’t like it, the crowd didn’t like it, but Kyle Nelson had the win either way.

Atlantic City, NJ — The man known as “Senor Perfecto,” Bill Algeo, carries a two-fight win streak into his showdown with Kyle Nelson at UFC Atlantic City this Saturday.

Algeo (18-7), from nearby Pennsylvania, is fighting just 90 minutes or so from home, and bringing “a ton of people” with him to the Boardwalk Hall, where he’ll face off with Canadian standout Nelson, who has also won two straight.

“I’ve never lost to Canada, I don’t plan on losing now,” Algeo told Cageside Press during Fight Week, though it’s worth noting that at least as a pro in MMA, Algeo has yet to face a Canadian. “Typically, I’m used to these Canadians being pretty European kickboxers with nice hair and stuff. He [Nelson] doesn’t really fit the bill, he’s much more of a jiu-jitsu guy, a grappler who takes some kickboxing classes.”

Algeo believes he’s better everywhere than his opponent, who has for his part predicted a knockout. “They all say that,” Algeo said of the prediction, “but they all come up short.”

At 4-1 in his last five fights, and with the possibility of a 3-0 run with a win on Saturday, Algeo is beginning to close in on the rankings.

“I’m very close. I’m right outside, and I’ve beaten guys who are flirting with the top 15 as well,” he suggested, while in the next breath downplaying the importance of a divisional ranking. “I don’t really care too much about the number next to my name. I just care about winning and doing well and improving.”

As for any callouts on the horizon for action past Saturday, Algeo, who expressed a desire to fight at The Sphere in Las Vegas in September, went the humorous route.

“Probably Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs. I’ve called out [Anthony] Faucci and [Mark] Zuckerberg, but no response. My man literally built a bunker to avoid me. In the UFC? It doesn’t really matter. We’ll see. I’ve got some callouts for after I win, that I’ll kind of hold out until then.”

Canadian Kyle Nelson will make the trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey to face Bill Algeo next month.

Nelson (15-5-1) will take on Algeo (18-7) at UFC Atlantic City at the Boardwalk Hall on March 30, 2024. The Fight Night card, expected to air on ESPN, will be the promotion’s first trip to Atlantic City since 2018, when Kevin Lee faced Edson Barboza in a lightweight headliner.

Cageside Press confirmed the match-up with a source familiar with the situation following an initial report by MMA Junkie.

Kyle Nelson has won his last two fights, picking up back-to-back unanimous decision wins over Fernando Padilla and Blake Bilder. Algeo has also won two straight, submitting T.J. Brown then notching a decision opposite Alexander Hernandez.

UFC Atlantic City was to have been headlined by Vicente Luque vs. Sean Brady, however an injury to Brady, who reportedly never signed his bout agreement, saw the fight fall through. The following bouts have been reported for the card thus far:

Chris Weidman vs. Bruno Silva

Alonzo Menifield vs. Carlos Ulberg

This past Saturday at UFC Vegas 80, Bobby “King” Green pulled off a big upset when he knocked out Grant Dawson within the first 33 seconds of their main event bout.

Coming into the fight, Dawson made it clear that he believed a win over Green would be more valuable than a couple of wins over top 15 opponents. Unfortunately for him though, Green was up for the challenge of being the underdog and stole the headlines.

Let’s take a look at what could be next for the standout winners.

Bobby Green

The aforementioned Green never fails to entertain. After the UFC took a weeks hiatus, there were a lot of eyes on this event, and that’s when you can rely on Bobby Green to show out.

The 37-year-old was coming in off his win over the regressing Tony Ferguson, and it was seemingly a steep step-up in opponent, especially when you factor in Dawson’s skillset. “KGD” couldn’t make the wrestling advantage pay though as he quite simply didn’t have time to after Green shut his lights off after 33 seconds.

Ultimately, Green as well as everyone else knows that he won’t be causing a shake up anywhere near the top five, and the veteran seems to be content with the fact that he won’t compete for a title before his career is all said and done.

That doesn’t stop him from having several more fun fights though. After the impressive win on Saturday night, Green called the name of Dan Hooker. Of course, in typical Hooker fashion, he relished the thought of it.

Let’s boogie @BobbyKGreen 🥳

Moicano can suck it pic.twitter.com/2WLgRwvsVa

— Dan Hangman Hooker (@danthehangman) October 8, 2023

That fight makes complete sense for them both and should be the one that is made next.

Green’s Next Fight: Dan Hooker

Joe Pyfer

“Bodybagz” continues to impress on the big stage. Coming into this fight with Alhassan, there were a lot of people who believed this step-up came too soon and that it would be detrimental.

The 27-year-old successfully picked up his third career submission though and exhibited that he is rapidly ascending up the middleweight tree. Having said that, depending on where the UFC see his potential, he may not fight a ranked opponent for a few more fights.

Someone who sits just outside of the rankings and is on a similar time scale to Pyfer, is Brad Tavares. I feel this would be a justified step up for Pyfer, but would be a relatively even match-up.

Pyfer’s Next Fight: Brad Tavares

Joaquin Buckley

Buckley registered back-to-back wins this past Saturday with an impressive performance over the dangerous and unorthodox, Alex Morono.

Since moving down to welterweight, Buckley has looked increasingly impressive and is seemingly fighting at a far more comfortable and natural weight to him. As well as that, “New Mansa” has shown that his power has most certainly carried down with him to 170, as a few times in this fight, he rocked Morono.

The 29-year-old now needs to build on his momentum instead of going straight into a fight with another top contender. Before his fight on Saturday, Buckley mentioned how he’d like a rematch with Kevin Holland at some point as they previously fought at middleweight back in 2020. That however, should come later down the line if Buckley carries on impressing.

A fight between Joaquin Buckley and Randy Brown could sure make me excited.

Buckley’s Next Fight: Randy Brown

Drew Dober

Saturday saw the emergence of a new mythical fighter, ‘Daddy Dober.’

The 34-year-old bounced back from just his second career KO, with yet another first round finish of his own, making it seven first round finishes during his long UFC tenure.

For a few weeks now, Renato Moicano has been calling the names of Dan Hooker and Bobby Green, but now with them two looking like they want to fight each other, Moicano is without a dance partner.

Can you imagine a scrap between Moicano and Dober? I don’t want to just imagine it, I want it.

Dober’s Next Fight: Renato Moicano

Bill Algeo

“Senor Perfecto” picked up his most impressive performance thus far, with a win over Alexander Hernandez.

Algeo is now 4-1 in his last five fights, and with his extremely fun style, there are a multitude of fights that could be very fun. The one I like the thought of most though, is the battle of the Bill’s. Bill Algeo vs Bill(y) Quarantillo.

Quarantillo is a popular name amongst fans, and winning in his last outing against Damon Jackson, he has recaptured a bit of the momentum lost in the Barboza loss. The fight would be utter fireworks. Plus, Billy Q already responded and said he’s game.

Algeo’s Next Fight: Billy Quarantillo

Alexander Hernandez returned to the featherweight division on Saturday for a battle with “Senor Perfecto” Bill Algeo at UFC Vegas 80.

Both fighters were coming off single wins: Algeo over TJ Brown, and “The Great Ape” Hernandez over Jim Miller in a lightweight match-up.

After the gloves were tapped, the two featherweights felt each other out before Hernandez threw a roundhouse that Algeo easily dodged, throwing in a little fun with the slip. The two traded kicks, Algeo with some neat back spins. After back and forth, Hernandez threw an overhand punch that sent “oohs” rippling through the crowd. Algeo showed off more of his spinning back-kicks. Hernandez replied with a solid shot to the body before getting out of range. Algeo ended the first round with a flurry of kicks.

Fiery exchanges erupted in round two. Hernandez came in more aggressively, a combination of punches landing on Algeo. It wasn’t long before Algeo used his length to throw more kicks. The second round came to a screeching halt at 3:13 from a potential eye poke from Algeo. Two minutes later, the round continued, Hernandez hunting for Algeo more aggressively than before. The next couple minutes involved Algeo, with a left hand, sent Hernandez down for the second time in the fight. Hernandez quickly found his feet and recovered after clinching with Algeo against the cage. The two returned to the middle of the cage, exchanging blows until the bell rang.

Round three, Hernandez closed the distance early and forced Algeo to the cage. Easily, Algeo defended and the the two returned to the middle of the cage. Urgency between the two heated up evidenced by a few of Algeo’s punches flying wild. He pushed Hernandez from one end of the cage to the other, Algeo kept pushing the pace, forcing Hernandez to go backwards. The two battled it out for the rest of the round with Hernandez’s face taking the brunt of the damage. Algeo, with seconds left to the clock, took Hernandez down. Hernandez bounced up quickly and was met with a slick roundhouse kick from Algeo before the bell rang.

With a 30-27 scoring by all judges, Bill “Senor Perfecto” Algeo extended his win streak to two.

Official Result: Bill Algeo def. Alexander Hernandez by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

This coming Saturday, UFC featherweight Bill Algeo (17-7) will look to score back-to-back wins as he takes on Alexander Hernandez at UFC Vegas 80.

Algeo’s last outing came in April where he submitted TJ Brown in the second round of their bout. Hernandez on the other hand is coming in off a win over the legendary Jim Miller.

“Senor Perfecto” spoke about the matchup with Hernandez in more detail at the UFC Vegas 80 media day. “He’s explosive for sure, he’s a good athlete who does everything well. Just he tends to fold, he tends to break a little bit and I intend not to.

“He’s definitely more stoic and more reserved and that kind of stuff, but that’s fine, doesn’t mean anything, he fights the same way and I fight my way so we’ll see which way is better.”

In his last fight, the 34-year-old won a Fight of the Night bonus, and on two other occasions during his UFC tenure has he won a performance based bonus. He admitted that he’s definitely looking to do that again this Saturday, and is hoping to take two bonuses home.

“I’ll take either, both would be ideal but as long as I get one. I’ve got furniture to buy, I’ve got a new house coming so I got some expenses coming my way. I got another kid on the way too at the end of January so those bills are going to rack up, so I’ll take whatever I can get.”
