The first fight between these two marked Escoboza’s lone loss in bare-knuckle which took place during their July 2022 showdown. Of all of Warren’s BKFC wins, Escoboza was the lone fighter to go to the judges’ scorecards.

When asked about what changes he may have seen in his opponent’s game before their sequel clash, Jared Warren said,

“I watched the two fights he’s had since I fought him. He won them both. It’s not even like a s**t talking kind of thing but I feel like he slowed down a little bit. Even though he won, I felt like he was looking kind of fatigued a bit in those fights. He had said something about he had a knee injury for one of them. So he wasn’t able to run as much or something.”

“But even though I do agree that he won the fights fair and square, I feel like he did slow down some. For me like I never stop training and never stop trying to improve. Because I feel like there’s just an endless amount of things to learn about boxing. So I’m just always in there trying to up my game and I’m definitely a much-improved fighter from our first fight two years ago. I’ve learned a lot of stuff since then.”

Lineal champion Lorenzo Hunt vacated the belt in this weight category. ‘The Juggernaut’ has a title reign at cruiserweight to focus on and also embarked on a recent attempt at BKFC heavyweight gold at KnuckleMania IV. Warren does admittedly wish he could have fought Hunt for this distinction. But that being said, ‘Captain Deadpool’ is just glad it’s a lineal belt and not for interim BKFC gold like his rematch with Josh Dyer was.

The last fight Warren had saw him finish UK light heavyweight champion Danny Christie in the opening round at BKFC 55. The performance was so impressive that Mike Perry shouted out Warren’s effort there whilst appearing on The MMA Hour.

While BKFC middleweight champion and Shift Combat teammate David Mundell has been gunning for that Perry fight, if things pan out a certain way Warren thinks it would be cool to throw down with the King of Violence champion. Ultimately though, Warren is a true team player and would want his combative compatriot Mundell to get that coveted contest if possible.

The aforementioned Josh Dyer would seem next to fight whoever emerges as the champion. This inference can be made going off the present rankings hierarchy in the promotion.

Warren has, as mentioned, fought Dyer twice before. When a possible fight down the line was mentioned to him, Jared Warren stated,

“Yeah, I’d definitely entertain it and down the line is key. The reason I say that is because he would need to earn it. If you look at his record, he hasn’t won a fight in almost three years. That’s because his last couple (of) fights which were like bigger paying, bigger name fights with me being included is they both ended on DQ. By something that he did because he was hurt both times. When he fought Joe Riggs, Joe Riggs dropped him.”

“He got up, he headbutted Joe Riggs. Split him open, it was a DQ, it was the end of the fight. Same thing, I fought him, I hurt him in the second round a couple (of) times, and he blasted me in the back of the head after the bell. I mean both times, he was looking for a way out. It sucks for everybody, the fighters involved. The organization doesn’t like it, they don’t want to have to pay to bring a kid back who keeps getting no contests and stuff.”

Warren continued, “That being said if he actually went out, won a few fights fair and square then yeah I could see him being a possible contender. But as it sits right now, he doesn’t deserve the s***. Like I’ve been grinding, fighting the best guys consistently for years to get to this point. He’s been sitting on his ass being stupid (laughs).”

That being said, this Dyer discourse is moot unless Warren goes 2-0 over Jomi Escoboza. The number one ranked light heavyweight has a chance to do just that and finally cement himself as a lineal BKFC titleholder this weekend at BKFC 62 in Hollywood, Florida.

The rematch has been booked as the main event contest of BKFC 20, set for August 20. It’s apropos that this championship collision transpires at BKFC 20 and tops the marquee on the 20th.

There was an initial dialogue about the championship fight happening at BKFC 19. However, the fight is now being targeted for the organization’s subsequent card. No reason has been given for the switch-up in dates.

With Dat Nguyen was stripped of his hardware after a dispute with BKFC, the vacant 135-pound throne is looking for a new occupant presently.

The announcement of Bedford versus Barnett Jr part two came per promotional figurehead David Feldman, via a recent podcast on the BKFC Youtube channel.

The anticipated sequel for the BKFC and Police Gazette belts goes down in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Reggie Barnett Jr previously contended for the Police Gazette and BKFC lightweight world championships. Barnett Jr’s lone bare-knuckle boxing loss came in the first fight with Johnny Bedford. He tasted defeat via unanimous decision at BKFC 6 in a bid for those aforementioned belts.

Barnett Jr’s last outing saw him halt DeMarcus Corley via fourth-round TKO at BKFC 16. The decorated gloved boxing world champion did not rise up from the stool between rounds and the bout stopped thereafter.

Reggie Barnett Jr is riding a three-fight win streak heading into this sophomore crack at the pair of belts that sit at the top of the 135lb hierarchy.

Johnny Bedford is the former divisional kingpin and is looking to return to the win column after dropping his championship hardware. The loss came to the aforementioned Dat Nguyen via unanimous decision at BKFC Knucklemania.

Bedford had a five-fight BKFC win streak snapped and took his first-ever BKFC loss in that Nguyen outing.

“Brutal” Johnny Bedford is presumably hungry and chomping at the belt to secure an emphatic victory, so as to start carving out a path back to donning the pair of belts he once held.

Bedford has nearly forty fights as an MMA combatant and was an Ultimate Fighter Season 14 cast member as well as a multi-fight UFC veteran.

Per BKFC figurehead David Feldman, the plan was to get her to fight in September. But Bec Rawlings is getting married that month. The goal is now to have “Rowdy“ Bec knuckle up and toe the line shortly thereafter.

Happy honeymoon. The Police Gazette Diamond world featherweight champion in recess is reportedly lined up for either an October or November foray in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship ring. Rumblings of a return for Rawlings to the Bare Knuckle Boxing ranks have been out there for the last few weeks now. However, a location, date, and opponent are not known as of yet for Rawlings’ comeback to the BKFC fold.

Bec Rawlings has a 3-0 record overall in bare-knuckle boxing. Rawlings very much established herself as the preeminent BKFC fighter in the world in her weight category.

“Rowdy” Bec garnered victories over Alma Garcia, Britain Hart, and Cecilia Ulloa Flores. Rawlings bested Flores in her last BKFC outing in February 2019.

Rawlings is regarded as the undefeated queen of bare-knuckle. She returns to the 125-pound weight division as it continues to grow and featherweight becomes deeper seemingly by the event.

The last combative outing for Bec Rawlings took place in the world of MMA. She won via unanimous decision against Elina Kallionidou in February 2020 at Bellator 240.

This put Rawlings at 1-1 in Bellator MMA as she fell short to Ilara Joanne via second-round kneebar at Bellator 231.

Bec Rawlings has had a pair of gloved bouts recently but is looking to shed the four-ounce gloves once more after this recent pair of Bellator MMA bouts. The Invicta FC and Ultimate Fighter Season 20 participant is also a seven-fight UFC vet who earned a notable win over Seo Hee Ham.

Two of MMA’s most popular fighters will meet again, this time in the squared circle as Paige VanZant will face Rachael Ostovich for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship on July 23.  The two met back in 2019 under the UFC banner, where VanZant submitted Ostovich via second round armbar.

Last year, VanZant became the highest profile signing for BKFC after amassing nearly three million followers on Instagram following several years in the UFC.  “12 Gauge” entered the UFC as one of the youngest fighters on the roster and quickly became one of their most popular stars in headlining multiple events on network television and booking crossover opportunities on Dancing with the Stars, Chopped, and appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.  VanZant made her BKFC debut this past February where she dropped a decision victory to Britain Hart.

Ostovich has amassed a respectable following of her own with 751k followers on social media.  After fighting for Invicta FC, Ostovich entered the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter in 2017.  The Hawaiian native went 1-3 in the Octagon and last fought in November of 2020 where she was stopped by Gina Mazany.  Ostovich was subsequently released from her contract and signed with BKFC along with fellow UFC veteran Pearl Gonzalez as part of the promotion’s efforts to build their roster.

No further details were given about the undercard or venue for the event.

In the same announcement, Belcher stated that “I love what BKFC is doing, the company is showing tremendous growth, their event production is first-class and I expressed to Dave that I wanted to be part of it. Mentally and physically, I’m in the best shape of my life, a true world-class athlete at the age of 37.”

“For me, this is about solidifying my legacy by becoming a BKFC World Champion. I want to represent the company and help it continue to gain popularity all over the world.”

Among the names Belcher has fought against over the years are Marvin Eastman, Kendall Grove, Patrick Cote, Jason MacDonald, Denis Kang, and Rousimar Palhares. Not to mention Yushin Okami and Michael Bisping — who represent the final two fights of Belcher’s MMA career.

The Talent‘s last mixed martial arts contest took place in a losing effort to Bisping, the future middleweight champion. The technical decision loss transpired at UFC 159 in April 2013.

The BKFC debut for Belcher is being mapped out for August of this year in his hometown of Biloxi, Mississippi.

Popular MMA star Paige VanZant has officially left the UFC and signed with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) in free agency.  Per ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, VanZant’s deal is worth over a million dollars and is significantly more than what she was being paid in the UFC.  No word yet on when she will make her debut although a date in November is being targeted.

“12 Gauge” Paige VanZant entered free agency last month after a six year run in the UFC.  Entering as one of the youngest fighters on the roster at 20 years old, VanZant was quickly pushed by the promotion by being put on national television on FOX as early as her second fight in the company and being chosen for an exclusive Reebok deal at around the same time.  VanZant quickly turned her stardom into crossover opportunities with appearances on Dancing with the Stars, Chopped, and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.  VanZant leaves the UFC with an 8-5 record overall.

VanZant joins BKFC to much surprise as many felt the young flyweight would join Bellator MMA, where husband Austin Vanderford currently competes.  Despite coming off a loss and being inactive due to multiple arm injuries, VanZant’s star power made her one of the most desired free agents on the market following the completion of her UFC contract in July.

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has quickly emerged as a unique player in the combat sports scene since their inception in 2018.  Originally seen as a potential avenue for fighters who were not finding immediate opportunities in the bigger promotions, BKFC found their footing by putting on unique matchups.  Most notably, the company paired up UFC veteran Artem Lobov and former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi for a bout after previous discord in Conor McGregor‘s training camp for Floyd Mayweather.  The promotion is also no stranger to holding women’s fights with UFC veteran and current Bellator fighter Bec Rawlings becoming a breakout star and winning the BKFC title.

Perhaps the biggest accomplishment of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship thus far was being able to make their sport come off as exciting and new.  The brainchild of David Feldman and company was previously considered forbidden, and that’s exactly why it was an overnight success in June.  Now going into their second event, Feldman spoke with Cageside Press about the landmark first show, and their expectations for the next card on August 25.

The consumer has never had more access to boxing and MMA than this year, how was Bare-Knuckle able to become the trending event worldwide in June?

Because it was forbidden for such a long time that people were like ‘Wow!’ They’re actually really doing this?  This is legal?’  Even comments on today’s Facebook post: ‘I didn’t even know that stuff was legal.’  I think it was having something you previously couldn’t have and watching something that you previously couldn’t have.  On the night, it was just a remarkable event.  I don’t think we could have scripted it any better or had better fights that night.  We said we were going to and I do think we ushered in a new era in combat sports on June 2nd.

The thing everyone kept talking about regarding the last event was the pacing.  Fans raved about fights ending quickly back-to-back compared to boxing and MMA events.  Is that your expectation for how events are going to go in Bare Knuckle?

We’ve been working on this for over eight years. We’ve been working on the rules and regulations and how to make it an exciting sport, not just it was something that people wanted to see because it was bear knuckle.  We designed the rules, the ring.  they toe-the-line, and they start at close quarters.  You can hit in the clench and if there is more than a 2 or 3 second lull in the action they brake and they re-start and you start fighting again.  All the stuff we did to put together the rules, regulations, the ring, everything was designed to make an exciting style of fighting.  Then when we were going over  itwith the production team in how to make the event go well, we said we don’t want big interviews in between the fights.  We want action, one fight after another and that is what we gave.  I think after watching it at least 1,000 times already that we did deliver to the fans and I think the fans that spent $29.99 felt that it was money well spent.  Everybody said the same thing: Great price, great show, great event, and that they will tune in again.  I think the excitement and the quality of fights we gave is something that is going to make fans tune in on August 25.

I’m sure you will be announcing more officially in time, but what can you tell us about some of the doors that have been opened since having that successful first show?

Potentially, lots of doors are opening as we speak.  Right now it’s Missississippi, Wyoming, and there is another state that I will mention when we make the announcement of where the October 20th event will land.  There are a bunch of more that are about to open up, and they are exciting territories.  But we don’t want to open up too many at one time. because we do  want to be that promotion that opens these different States. It’s not only about being the first guy there, it’s more about setting a precedent for other promoters so that they need to live up  to as far as the safety and the action that goes with these fights.  We are going to give the fans another great night of entertainment and then another and that is how we plan to roll this out.

The break-out star of the first event was undoubtedly Bec Rawlings, who fought in the only female fight that night.  What stood out to you personally about her performance?

Let me give you some back story.  I’ve promoted over 300 hundred MMA and boxing shows in my careers.  I have gotten so used to everything that I don’t really get to excited at the fights and I actually jumped out of my seat when I saw her in the ring exchanging with Alma.  It was just unbelievable.  I think what she brought to sport was that she let people know that this is not just a backyard sport. She showed incredible technical skill that night and overpowered a professional boxer.  She’s an MMA girl, and she took it to the professional boxer in bareknuckle and I think she showed all the fans this is can be main stream sport for everybody.  That being said, we are looking on building Bec up.  Not only because of her fighting ability but she’s a got great personality, she talks very well, and she’s got a great backstory.   I think it is a no brainer that she is going to be a great star in this.

You’ve obviously made news in signing other notable former MMA fighters in Chris Lytle and Kendall Grove.  Will you be continuing the trend of continuing to sign these names from boxing and MMA for the foreseeable future?

I don’t think you have to come from any other disciplines, but you have to be a trained athlete.  You can’t just come off the street and say I want to be a Bare Knuckle fighter. You will still have to train the same way you would to make a professional debut in boxing or in MMA.  We have to figure out how we can qualify for amateur bare-knuckle fights because we don’t have any of them right now and that’s not even on the horizon. We require all of our fighters to be a professional in some form, whether it be as a professional kick-boxer, Muay-Thai, MMA, or a professional boxer.  They have to be an experienced professional to crossover right now because this is new.  As we roll this out, you never know what can happen.  But we are looking at grabbing some young talent, some guys that may have had one or two boxings fights but they are not the greatest boxer, or in MMA they are not the greatest ground guy, but maybe this is something right in the middle for them. We’ll see who can last in this because it is definitely not for the weak. It’s not for the guy who says ‘hey let me go out there and try to fight.’  There are a lot of guys like that who are reaching out to us, but we aren’t looking out for these kind of guys.  We are looking out for guys that are experienced, or guys that serious about making a run at this.

What does the current schedule look like for Bare Knuckle for the rest of 2018 and in 2019?

Our next event is on August 25 and then we come back on October 20th.  We are looking at a possible date in early December, but there is just a lot of action going on there where we don’t want to compete later in the month.  If that doesn’t happen, we are looking at eight shows next year with possibly more. We have some regional promoters that we’re teaming up with to do some smaller shows to build up our talent.  It will be anywhere between eight to twelves shows next year.

What is your message to the people who missed the first show about why they should tune in for the second show on August 25?

All I can say is: Non-stop Action.  If you are a fight fan, if you are a boxing or MMA fan and you tune in to watch good fights, you have to tune in to BKFC 2: A New Era on August 25 on pay-per-view.  It’s at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Tickets are selling like crazy.  You have to tune in because the fights are just incredible.  I don’t think anyone could’ve asked for a better night of fights for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 1 and we expect more of the same.  We set the bar higher, so we expect the guys to do even better on this one.  So tune in and watch a great night of fights.

BKFC 2: A New Era will take place on August 25 from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi and will be available on pay-per-view.

In June, Bare Knuckle FC held their inaugural event and became a viral sensation. The event was the #2 trending topic on Twitter around the world and names from all over combat sports were talking about their interest in the card.  The break-out star of BKFC 1 was former UFC fighter “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings, who was quickly dubbed “The Queen of Bareknuckle” and who will be making her second appearance in the squared circle on August 25 when she faces Britain Hart.

In April, Rawlings was released from the UFC after having dropped four straight bouts in the UFC.  Another MMA fight was the plan, but when Bare Knuckle reached out to her, the offer was simply too enticing and she soon found herself as a pioneer in the newest combat sports venture of 2018.  Rawlings and her opponent Alma Garcia immediately stood out as not just the only women on the card, but also as the first women to ever compete in a legally sanctioned bare-knuckle bout.  Rawlings turned in a relentless performance, forcing Garcia to remain in her corner after the second round.  Considering the tough skid that Rawlings had been on, the victory was re-invigorating to say the least.

“It had been a long time since I had that much fun in the ring or in the cage.  It was exciting and refreshing for me.  It was less stressful not having to worry about kicks, wrestling or Jiu-Jitsu.  Whenever anyone asks me about the fight, the first thing I can say is it was so much fun.”

The entire MMA world took notice of the new avenue that opened up before their eyes, and Rawlings began drawing praise from the biggest names in the sport. “I think that’s what got everyone’s attention, like ‘Oh wow! She’s legit.’ I wasn’t able to prove that in my previous fights.  It was nice to go out there and prove to everyone what I was capable of. We didn’t approach it like a boxing fight or an MMA fight with no kicks.  We approached it like a bare-knuckle fight.  There are things I did out there that no other fighters that night did.  I think that’s what really excited people.  They saw me use different kind of blocks and guards that hurt my opponent’s hands and gave me the option to punish her after that.”

One could argue that Rawlings and bare-knuckle fighting are meant for each other and perhaps that is why fans have quickly taken to the “Queen of Bareknuckle” moniker.  Just as Chuck Liddell and MMA years ago, Bec Rawlings looks like the definition of a bare-knuckle fighter.  She admits that fans are often surprised by the sunny disposition that contradicts her tough appearance.  “I feel like whenever I meet fans or anyone who’s seen my career, as soon as I start talking to them and laughing they’re like ‘I didn’t expect you to be this soft spoken and giggly. I thought you would be this tough, deep-voiced girl.’  So I think they are taken aback by how girly I am in person because I look mean and intimidating in there.”

Rawlings outward appearance portrays an unapologetic confidence, which is why so many took notice when she shared her story of domestic abuse on PlayersVoice in her native Australia this summer.  She had shared the story before in 2013, but the story gained more attention when it was shared on the well-known Australian platform.  For Rawlings, the decision to share her story was about addressing a serious issue in her native country.

“In Australia, domestic violence and violence against women is getting worse and worse.  I definitely felt like I needed to touch base and share my story with people who are going through it or have gone through it to raise awareness of how bad it can really be and how it can happen to anyone.  I’ve had so many people reach out to me since the article.  There are so many girls who are in similar situations that are asking for help or saying that I inspired them to get help to try and get out.  The piece has definitely done it’s job but you can never do enough for creating awareness and giving people the outlets to get help.”

Breaking the stigma of domestic violence is a difficult task, even for one with a public profile and voice such as Rawlings. But she she remains firm in her message that no victim has brought it upon themselves nor are they alone.  “I think the biggest thing is that the victims think that they’re weak, or dumb, or silly for letting it happen to them.  When I shared my story, they’re were like ‘wow.  If it can happen to someone as strong and powerful as you, it can happen to anyone.  It’s not because I’m weak or I’m deserving of it.’  It doesn’t discriminate.  It doesn’t mean you’re weak.  There is help out there.  You just need to ask for it and people will help you.  There is light at the end of the tunnel.“

When Rawlings returns to the squared-circle, she will face the task of defeating professional boxer Britain Hart who hopes that the sport of bare-knuckle fighting can turn around her career.  Hart is 2-3 as a boxer and has dropped her last three fights.  Despite such misfortune, Rawlings knows first-hand that going through a rough patch doesn’t mean an opponent won’t be dangerous in this new venture.  “With Britain, we’re stuck on our feet so we’re doing what she’s really good at, whether she’s had a few losses or not. I’ve had a few losses as well.  I think because it’s a new sport we all get a fresh start. She’s going to be dangerous.  She knows what it’s like to be under the bright lights.  She brings her boxing skills and experience into the ring and I bring my bare-knuckle debut and all of my previous MMA experience as well.”

While another victory would only grow her status in her new home, she insists that she is in no way done with MMA.  Prior to her first bout, there were plans to return to Invicta and Rawlings says that those talks will resume after she handles business later this month. “We were talking with them before my last bare-knuckle fight.  We’ve stopped talking with them until this one is over with.  It’s hard to book another fight when you already have one lined up and they’re worried about injuries with that.  So I’ve stepped away from that and am just focusing on my fight coming up with Bare-Knuckle and then I’ll get into talks with Invicta.  But I definitely want to fight for them and they’ve said they want me so we just need to sit down and talk about it.  They are the best organization out there for women so it would be nice to get back with them where I began.”

BKFC 2 takes place at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS on August 25. The event airs live on PPV.
