In the main event, welterweight gold was up for grabs as champ Adrian Bartosinski was set to face off with another Polish standout in Igor Michaliszyn. Andrzej Grzebyk had originally been scheduled to face Bartosinski, but a torn bicep had pulled him from the bout.

The other prized gold up for grabs on Saturday was an interim featherweight title. With Salahdine Parnasse otherwise occupied having defended his lightweight title just last month (not to mention making a failed bid for a third title prior to that), Robert Ruchala and Patryk Kaczmarczyk were looking to step up.

A pair of legendary Polish heavyweihts were also set to collide at KSW 94, as former GLORY kickboxer Arkadiusz Wrzosek faced boxer Artur Szpilka.

A former GLORY kickboxing standout, heavyweight Arkadiusz Wrzosek headlines the show opposite Ivan Vitasovic— a surging Croatian who defended his tittle in regional promotion FNC for the second time in his last outing, and who has won six straight fights.

Outside of the main event, a pair of UFC veterans are also scheduled to be in action in Bartosz Fabinski and Damian Stasiak. In featherweight action, Stasiak faces off with Adam Soldaev, while middleweight Fabinski gets Laid Zerhouni in the KSW 90 co-main event.

Heavyweight Wrzosek holds a win over Badr Hari, but that’s where things got dicey in his kickboxing career. Earlier this year, the pair were booked into a rematch, only for the fight to end early when a riot broke out in the stands. The bout was ruled a No Contest, and Wrzosek was banished from the promotion after blame was placed on him for the action of Polish fans in attendance.

The Polish fighter would later dispute that narrative. “I was beating Badr Hari in Hasselt and then my own fans want to spoil that for me? Come on,” he said in an interview with Vechtsportinfo.nl.

On Saturday in Warsaw, Wrzosek would face another kickboxer who made the jump to MMA, Tomasz Sarara. Sarara’s 1-0 record in the sport meant that the main event fighters of KSW 73 had a combined record of 1-0, and with their striking backgrounds, a finish felt likely.

That makes for a rather unique set of circumstances surrounding the KSW 73 main event: the two competitors combined for an overall record of 1-0 in MMA coming into the night.

In the co-main event, UFC alum Reginaldo Vieira (15-6) is set to face ex-KSW title challenger Daniel Rutkowski (13-3) in a featherweight scrap.
