Heavyweights tooks center stage at ONE Championship’s Fists of Fury II card on Friday. A taped delayed event originally taking place in Kallang, Singapore, the big men featured in both the main and co-main events. Atop the card, Iranian wrestling standout Amir Aliakbari was up against Kang Ji Won.

For Aliakbari, after a false start last year that saw his opponent pull out of a planned December bout, it was his promotional debut. A world championship gold medal winner later stripped of his medal and banned for life for doping offenses, Aliakbari had previously competed for RIZIN, piling up wins over notable names like Valentin Moldavsky, Heath Herring, and Geronimo dos Santos. Outside RIZIN, under the ACB banner, he had also earned a win over former UFC heavyweight Daniel Omielanczuk.

The only loss on Aliakbari’s record came against heavyweight legend Mirko Cro-Cop, making his ONE debut one to keep an eye on. Korean Kang Ji Won, meanwhile, was far less experienced, but boasted a perfect 4-0 record.

In the co-main event, Brazil’s Alexandre Machado took on undefeated Russian Anatoly Malykhin.

ONE Championship: Fists of Fury II airs Friday, March 5. Results can be found above. A stream of the action is above, where available.

The ONE Championship: Quest for Gold main event has been unveiled!

On Wednesday, ONE Championship announced the main and co-main event of their upcoming ONE Championship: Quest for Gold show. The card takes place at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on February 23. Topping the event will be middleweight champion Aung La N Sang vs. Alexandre Machado of Brazil. The pair will be competing for the promotion’s vacant light heavyweight title. It’s the second straight superfight for Sang, who most recently competed at heavyweight.

Aung La N Sang (21-10), also known as ‘The Burmese Python,’ captured the ONE middleweight crown against Vitaly Bigdash at Light of a Nation in June. Subsequent to that victory, he faced Alain Ngalani at Hero’s Dream in November, a heavyweight bout that Sang won via submission. Now, he’ll be vying for a second title. Should he win, he’ll be one of two champions in ONE Championship to currently hold two belts. Martin Nguyen, who currently holds both the featherweight and lightweight titles in the promotion, is the other.

Brazil’s Machado (8-2), meanwhile, is coming off a win over Ngalani at heavyweight in August. He has competed at light heavyweight before, however.

The co-main event of Quest for Gold, meanwhile, will see Amir Khan taking on Russia’s Timofey Nastyukhin. Ev Ting vs. Ariel Sexton and Saw Min Min vs. Ye Thway Ne were also announced for the card. More fights are expected to be unveiled at a later date.
