UFC St. Louis featured an exciting five-fight main card that ended with three finishes and two Performances of the Night bonuses.

UFC veteran, Derrick Lewis defended his relevancy in the heavyweight division taking down Rodrigo Nascimento in what was the Brazilian’s first UFC main event appearance.

Rodrigo Nascimento

Rodrigo Nascimento was stopped by Derrick Lewis in the third round of their main event bout on Saturday night.

Nascimento is now 4-2, 1 NC in the UFC and had his four-fight unbeaten streak snapped. Nascimento’s most impressive victories in that span were two split decision wins against Tanner Boser and Ilir Latifi.

Nascimento is just 31 years old and has a lot of time left in his pro career. No need to rush, Nascimento should get another veteran like Marcos Rogerio de Lima. Marcos has 18 fights with the UFC. Marcos just defeated Junior Tafa back in February and also has a stoppage loss to Derrick Lewis in his previous fight. The bout would make sense and could easily grace a main card.

Nascimento’s next fight: Marcos Rogerio de Lima

Nursulton Ruziboev

Nursulton Ruziboev suffered the first loss of his UFC career when Joaquin Buckley defeated him in a unanimous decision victory in the co main event slot of UFC St. Louis.

Ruziboev is now 2-1 with the promotion including two first round finishes over Brunno Ferreira and Sedriques Dumas. Nursulton defeated both fighters at 185lbs. before dropping to 170lbs. for his most recent fight.

Ruziboev had won ten in a row dating back to 2019, with just two of those fights being at 170lbs. He has been incredibly successful in the middleweight division especially in his pre-UFC career.

If the 6’5″ fighter wants another welterweight fight: Give him the winner of Charles Radtke vs Carlos Prates, who fight June 8th.

As for middleweight-Ruziboev was slated to take on Caio Borralho back in November of last year. While that is way too high of a matchup for Ruziboev right now, Ruizboev did call out Gerald Meerschaert back in March. Solid name for him and he should get the call out that he wants at middleweight thanks to how much he’s won at that weight.

Nursulton’s next fight at welterweight: Winner of Charles Radtke vs Carlos Prates

Nursulton’s next fight at middleweight: Gerald Meerschaert

Alonzo Menifield

Alonzo Menifield was violently finished in just seconds on Saturday night by Carlos Ulberg.

The stoppage snapped Alonzo’s five-fight unbeaten streak, featuring the likes of Dustin Jacoby, Jimmy Crute, Misha Cirkunov and Askar Mozharov.

Menifield is now 8-4-1 with the UFC. Menifield has also had a lot of cancelled fights while with the promotion. Most of the time Menifield eventually ends up getting the opponent, just at a later date. One of the few guys Menifield has not ended up fighting off of his cancelled bouts list would be Nicolae Negumereanu. The two were originally scheduled to fight in June of 2022 before Nicolae withdrew. Nicolae’s most recent fight was also a first-round stoppage to Carlos Ulberg at the end of 2022. However, Nicolae has been inactive since that bout and he is also, obviously unranked.

A solid back up choice for Menifield would be the winner of the Dominick Reyes vs. Dustin Jacoby fight scheduled for June 8th. Reyes was scheduled multiple times to take on Carlos Ulberg this year and both times the bout fell through. Jacoby’s most recent fight was a unanimous decision loss to Alonzo Menifield back in December. Might seem redundant but with Reyes still hanging onto a fringe Top 15 ranking, the winner of the bout should come out ranked, even if just barely.

Either scenario would be a solid next matchup.

Menifield’s next fight: Dominick Reyes vs. Dustin Jacoby winner

Mateusz Rebecki

Mateusz Rebecki suffered his first loss in the UFC on Saturday night, at the hands of the 15-fight UFC veteran in Carlos Ferreira.

Rebecki entered the bout a heavy favorite but was ultimately stopped late after suffering tons of damage, in what was an entertaining comeback for Ferreira.

Mateusz is now 3-1 with the UFC since winning his Contender Series bout back in 2022.

As usual, the lightweight division is incredibly busy. There are a couple of matchups that potentially make sense for Mateusz. The deciding factor will likely be just how fast can Mateusz turnaround and fight again after the late stoppage.

Chase Hooper, among others, would be a solid matchup for Rebecki. Hooper picked up an impressive win on the undercard of UFC St. Louis and has been steadily improving since entering the UFC in 2019. Hooper is currently on a 3-fight win streak and has 9 fights in the UFC despite having less than 20 pro fights. Rebecki already has 21 fights of pro experience so the extra UFC experience would aid Hooper and make the bout a more even matchup.

Rebecki’s next fight: Chase Hooper

Alex Caceres

Alex Caceres lost his second straight bout via unanimous decision when he was defeated by St. Louis’ own, Sean Woodson.

Caceres’ last win came in June of 2023 against Daniel Pineda. Alex has now won two of his last four since the end of 2022.

Nate Landwehr would be a great opponent for Alex Caceres. Landwehr last competed against Jamall Emmers at the tail end of March, stopping him at the end of the opening round. Caceres was actually scheduled to fight Landwehr back in March of last year but withdrew from the bout. It’d be the perfect time of the pair to run that matchup back.

Caceres’ next fight: Nate Landwehr

Alex Caceres looked to return to the win column after a setback against Giga Chikadze, while opponent Sean Woodson was looking to build on a win over Charles Jourdain when the pair of featherweights collided at UFC St. Louis on Saturday.

Both fighters were tall and lanky with a tendency to fight at range, but few 145’ers were as towering as the 6 foot 1 Woodson.

The Enterprise Center crowd bellowed as the iconic Bruce Buffer introduced St. Louis’ hometown kid, Sean “The Sniper” Woodson.

Woodson started out strong, maintaining distance while landing a variety of calf kicks in the first minute of the bout. The two exchanged a few quick combinations throughout the latter portion of the round, though neither fighter sustained much damage during the opening frame.

Woodson’s unique and effective style began to pose problems for Caceres, working the body of his opponent while steering clear of the power punches coming his way. Caceres continued to move forward, though Woodson looked to be ahead on the scorecards headed into the third and final round.

Caceres fired on all cylinders deep into the third round, throwing a plethora of spinning attacks and utilizing his deep bag of tricks to frustrate Woodson. Caceres channeled his inner Max Holloway, pointing to the ground in the waning seconds of the bout and throwing caution to the wind.

The last fury wouldn’t be enough, however, as Woodson would weather the storm en route to securing a unanimous decision victory in front of a crowd filled with his friends, family, and supporters.

“I’m a dark horse in this division. I could be the best fighter in the world one day,” Woodson said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “I want Bryce Mitchell next, then I want (the #10 ranked fighter in the division), then I want number five, and then I want a title shot.

Woodson extends his unbeaten streak to six, while Caceres drops his second fight in a row and looks to be in the final stages of a very successful UFC career.

Official Decision: Sean Woodson def. Alex Caceres by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

“Bruce Leeroy” Alex Caceres returns to action at UFC St. Louis this Saturday, having built up a 7-2 record in his last nine fights.

Caceres (21-14, 1NC) will enter the match-up off a loss to Giga Chikadze, and is now taking on Sean Woodson in a bout many see as having Fight of the Night potential.

“If I’m involved in any fight, I feel like it has the potential to be Fight of the Night,” Caceres exclaimed during this week’s UFC St. Louis media day. “I tend to try to make it a show. I would have to say, without taking anything away from anybody, it’s going to be all about me when it comes down to it.”

Woodson will be the hometown favorite in the fight, but Caceres doesn’t mind playing the role of villain. It doesn’t matter to him in the least, it seems.

“It doesn’t matter to me. A lot of people don’t want me to win anyway, in general,” he stated. “So I just don’t pay attention to that sort of stuff. At the end of the day, it’s just two men in a cage.”

Earlier in the day, opponent Sean Woodson described the pair as having “funky,” “weird” styles and at least to some extent, Caceres, agreed. “We’re both very rangy, we like to fight on the outside,” said Caceres. “It’s going to be a battle of wits when it comes to trying to close the distance and making something happen.”

The man known as “Bruce Leeroy” also addressed what he sees as the artistic side of fighting, and believes it can apply to any undertaking. “I believe we’re all artists, no matter what we do. And when we embrace the artistic side of us, then we can actually perform at whatever thing that we’re doing at the highest level possible, because it’s done with love and it’s not done for any other thing.”

When Alex Caceres got his start in fighting, he was among those, like Jorge Masvidal, who participated in backyard fighting, mainly in the Miami area. Asked about the scene there, Caceres, who admitted that he hasn’t gone back and watched himself, explained that “that’s just Miami man.”

“Before I was doing that I used to have— I was fresh out of high school. I’d just turned 18. I was trying to go professional in mixed martial arts.” Even before that, he recalled, “when I was 16 in high school, we’d have underground fights.” Fighters from rival schools would bet against one another, and end up fighting in private. “These were things that were going on all the time.”

Leeroy was eventually introduced to backyard fighting by a promoter connected to the late Kimbo Slice. “Those fights were kind of like, not bragging right fights but having control over what section of the area you lived in. So they wanted me to represent them, because we used to spar a lot and they were like ‘oh man you’d do really well out here.’ It’s just a Miami thing.”

UFC Singapore saw the final walk of The Korean Zombie, following a knockout loss at the hands of Max Holloway. With Zombie, a.k.a. Chan Sung Jung, announcing his retirement following the fight, we know what is next for the featherweight legend — but how about the rest of the card?

The Korean Zombie

Chan Sung Jung, who prefers his nickname to his given name, stepped into the cage for the last time in the main event of UFC Singapore against future Hall of Famer Max Holloway. While Holloway is perhaps just past his prime, Zombie appears well past it. Still, he gave a good account of himself and his patented relentless aggression was on full display, making for an entertaining fight. That is also exactly what got him knocked out, but he was able to surprise Max and hurt him a few times.

The scenes were emotional on television as Zombie laid his gloves down in the octagon, bowed before them for a minute, and then walked away for the last time as the entire crowd in Singapore sung along to the iconic walkout song ‘Zombie’ by the Cranberries. His career will be celebrated for a long time, with legendary fights like his first fight with Leonard Garcia in WEC, his submission victory in a FOTN over Dustin Poirier, and his five round war against Yair Rodriguez being among the best fights in history.

His iconic finishes must also be mentioned too: He had the fist Twister submission in UFC history, he was the second man to ever KO Frankie Edgar, and he still owns the fastest finish in UFC featherweight history at seven seconds, over Mark Hominick. Zombie may be gone but his legacy lives on as a cultural icon in Korea, a pioneering force in Asian mixed martial arts as a whole, and one of the best action fighters ever.

Zombie’s Next Fight: Retirement

Ryan Spann

In a rematch of dubious necessity Ryan Spann once again lost to Anthony Smith in the UFC Singapore co-main event. This fight was closer than the last, where he was finished in the first round in 2021, but the judges did not give him the nod and it goes on his record as a loss, Spann’s second in a row. For now Spann is ranked tenth at light-heavyweight, but his ranking will likely drop on Tuesday and he will need to fight down in the rankings next.

Undefeated Azamat Murzakanov, former GLORY kickboxer Dustin Jacoby, and brutal Muay Thai specialist Khalil Rountree Jr. are all logical fights for Spann next. Azamat is one of the brighter prospects at 205-lbs and is deserving of this fight, or an even higher ranked one. Spann will have to prove he can beat a powerful striker and mauling wrestler in the Russian sambo specialist.

Spann’s Next Fight: Azamat Murzakanov

Alex Caceres

After holding off unranked challengers to win his last two fights, Alex ‘Bruce Leeroy’ Caceres faltered when facing a higher ranked contender than him in Giga Chikadze. He will once again need to fight down in the rankings, and since he is ranked fifteenth at featherweight that means fighting an unranked prospect.

The obvious options are two British prospects who both got good wins at UFC London recently: Nathaniel Wood and Lerone Murphy. Either one makes perfect sense, but Nate Wood is perhaps more deserving after beating Charles Jourdain and Andre Fili, two featherweights who were also on the verge of the rankings at the time.

Caceres’ Next Fight: Nathaniel Wood

Fernie Garcia

Fernie Garcia earned his UFC contract with a big knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021 but has lost three wide decisions in the UFC since then. Not many UFC fighters can go 0-3 and keep their job, so it is likely that Fernie will need to go back to the regional circuit, sharpen his tools, and find his way back to the big show. If he does stick around, it’s probably an incoming fighter next.

Garcia’s Next Fight: Outside of UFC/new fighter

Taila Santos

Former title challenger, and arguable title winner, Taila Santos gave the division’s brightest prospect Erin Blanchfield all she could handle in the first round at UFC Singapore. Santos’ striking shown through early and she defended the takedowns but as the fight went on Blanchfield’s cardio and relentless cage-wrestling let her wear on Taila, earning her the 29-28 victory as Santos tired out late.

After winning four in a row Santos has now lost two decisions back-to-back in which she gave a good account of herself and looked capable of victory, but it is still two losses in a row which means she will fight down in the rankings now. The next brightest prospect in the division, who is deserving of fighting up, is Maycee Barber. Barber’s recent development as a brutal striker, shown in her fight against Amanda Ribas, makes her one of the more intriguing and popular prospects at 125-lbs and the fight with Taila would be a big one, and a big test for both.

Santos’ Next Fight: Maycee Barber

Parker Porter

Porter’s first round knockout loss to Junior Tafa was similar to his loss to Junior’s brother, Justin Tafa. He has now lost three of his last four fights after a 3-1 start to his UFC career. Still, 4-4 is a fine record that keeps him in a job with the promotion for now. He will, however, have to give another less experienced prospect a chance.

Karl Williams has looked like a fighter with some potential in his two UFC fights and wins. Him and Porter both have similar, well-rounded games and solid cardio for heavyweights, making them well-matched for this potential bout.

Porter’s Next Fight: Karl Williams

The long-awaited return of Giga Chikadze arrived Saturday at UFC Singapore, with the Georgian striker paired up in a main card match-up with Alex Caceres.

Chikadze had not competed since a devastating loss to Calvin Kattar in January 2022, but remained a contender at featherweight, where he had won four straight post-fight bonuses. Caceres, meanwhile, was 7-1 in his last eight fights, the best run of his pro career.

Round 1 began with Chikadze being very conservative and Caceres letting loose early. A heavy spinning back fist got Chikadze’s attention and got him working the body kicks. He still employed very patient game plan which makes sense with so much time away. Caceres continued popping the jab out and lunging in with 1-2s and seemed to be able to see everything Chikadze threw, early.

Round 2 Chikadze got his groove back in this round landing on Caceres as he timed his opponent’s rushes. Caceres would rush in with a combo, Giga would duck the shots, then land heavy blows in close. Once he got his rhythm he began to land combos on Caceres who did not change his game plan and continues to try side kicks to the body, combos in during a rush attack, and jabs.

Round 3 and Chikadze landed the heavier shots in this one. Caceres opted to continue his high-volume attack taking whatever Chikadze would give him. The entire fight kind of replayed in this round with both men landing on each other in a high-level chess match, but in the end it seemed like Chikadze may have landed the most damage, the bigger and more significant shots, but you never know with the judges.

Official Result: Giga Chikadze def. Alex Caceres by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

The last time we saw UFC featherweight Giga Chikadze in the octagon was Jan 2022 when he dropped a decision to Calvin Kattar, but he returns now in hopes of getting back into the win column against Alex Caceres at UFC Singapore on Saturday.

“It’s been a while. It’s my 5th or 6th camp since my last fight and all of them were falling off so I’m glad at least I have somebody from top 15 because none of these guys wanted to fight me,” Chikadze told reporters on Wednesday.

“All of them, from the beginning of this year, all my opponents were getting injured. I’ve been ready since last May, and was just asking (for) fights. Finally we’re back.”

Chikadze gets Caceres at UFC Singapore, and while he respects his opponent, he doesn’t believe he’ll stand and strike with him.

“He’s not the guy who’s going to try to stand up with me. Of course there are many good strikers, and he fought many good strikers, and he’s a striker. Very entertaining guy, but I’m a different breed, and he knows it,” he said.

With the main event being two guys in his division, and a bit of history with The Korean Zombie, would Chikadze entertain calling him out if he wins on Saturday at UFC Singapore?

“I’m not thinking about that at the moment, just for me it’s very important time to come back,” said Chikadze.

“All my lights at the moment are on Alex. I have an opponent who’s been around for a long time, and he’s the first one from top 15 to call me out. I take this sh*t personal always. It’s not just a game to me. I’m coming here to shut his lights off.”

Featherweight Alex Caceres is on the road again this weekend, fighting Giga Chikadze at UFC Singapore in a bout that could push the winner into title contention.

Caceres (21-13, 1NC) is on the best stretch of his career, posting a 7-1 record in his last eight bouts. It’s his attitude, however, that he believes has brought him to Singapore.

“I just don’t deny fights. I’m a warrior. Whatever fight you offer me, I’m going to take it,” said Caceres during this week’s UFC Singapore media day. “I want to test my abilities. And I guess they put me in Asia a lot because I’m Bruce Leeroy.”

The match-up with Chikadze feels explosive on paper, sure to entertain. But Caceres believes he’s “entertaining enough even if my opponent isn’t.”

As far as a win over Chikadze getting him into the title picture, “I don’t really think about it too much,” Caceres explained. “These things do not matter to me. Fighting is something that I love to do. It’s what I do, it’s a lifestyle, [that’s what] martial arts is to me.”

“Therefore it’s a part of a journey. There is no destination for me. I took the fight on a shorter notice than I usually would. It’s just, I don’t care, just let me fight. Let me do the thing that I love to do the most in life. I do understand that winning this fight and beating people at higher rankings does push me further and closer to a title shot. But once again, I’m here to prove how good I am to myself, and it has nothing to do with the accolades and treasures that I can possess in achieving such rankings.”

While Caceres hopes to practice martial arts until he’s old and grey, not having a destination in mind is also freeing. Martial arts is part of his life, but it’s not all-consuming.

“It is quite liberating not to have any destination in mind. Life is long, and it’s not all about winning titles or making money and having fame and glory,” Caceres explained. “I find more importance in having a good time with my wife, or having children in the future, building a home. This is life. This is life, and martial arts is a part of my life, but it isn’t my life. I love doing it every single day, but hopefully that can inspire some people to not take it so seriously.”

The long awaited return of the “Giga Kick” and the man who wields it, Georgian Giga Chikadze, will take place next month.

Chikadze (14-3) will face Alex Caceres (21-13, 1NC) in featherweight action as part of UFC Singapore on August 26, 2023 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The fight will mark Chikadze’s first since January 2022.

Cageside Press confirmed the booking on Thursday, following an initial report by MMA Junkie.

Chikadze’s last action came in a losing effort against Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC on ESPN 42. A nasty five-round war saw the Georgian lumped up; he was expected to return against Sodiq Yusuff in September 2022, only for injury to take him out of that fight.

Prior to the Kattar loss, Giga Chikadze had strung together seven straight wins inside the octagon and nine overall, including finishes of Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza.

At 35, longtime UFC veteran Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Cacares is on the best run of his professional fighter career, having won seven of his past eight fights. That includes victories over Daniel Pineda and Julian Erosa in his past two outings.

Headlining UFC Singapore will be another featherweight pairing, as former champ Max Holloway takes on fellow fan-favorite Chan Sung Jung, better known as The Korean Zombie. The following fights have been reported for the card:

Max Holloway vs. Jung Chan-sung

Anthony Smith vs. Ryan Spann

Taila Santos vs. Erin Blanchfield

Song Kenan vs. Rolando Bedoya

This past Saturday, the UFC returned to the comfort of the Apex for yet another Fight Night. Atop of the UFC Vegas 74 card were flyweight contenders Kai Kara-France and Amir Albazi, looking to leap-frog their way into title contention.

Let’s take a look at what could be next for the main card winners.

Amir Albazi

The ever controversial side of MMA plods on as judging was once again the main topic of discussion following the main event. Amir Albazi’s hand was raised, much to the surprise of not only the majority of fans, but also those commentating on the live UFC broadcast.

Despite there being calls of a ‘robbery’, there is no doubt there were a few swing rounds that could’ve been scored either way. Having said that, Kai Kara-France seemed to be the one to do the most damage throughout 25 minutes.

The most concerning part of the decision, is that Chris Lee scored Kara-France’s most dominant round, round four, for Albazi. Ultimately this is what led to Albazi being the victor.

Whether the majority of the MMA fanbase believe “Don’t Blink” Kara-France to be the true winner, he wasn’t and now “The Prince” Albazi will likely be sat at rank three come Tuesday’s rankings update. Although the 29-year-old believes he’s next in line for the title, that is up for debate being as though Brandon Royval emphatically finished Matheus Nicolau back in April.

There are two options for Amir Albazi, neither of which in my opinion should see him fighting for the title next. Depending on whether the UFC see Royval as the next clear contender, they could do a title eliminator between the two, to see who’s next. If they also see that Royval should be next, then have Albazi fight the aforementioned, Matheus Nicolau.

Albazi’s Next Fight: Matheus Nicolau

Alex Caceres

“Bruce Leeroy” continues to improve despite being a veteran of the game. The 34-year-old has registered back-to-back wins once again, this time nullifying the reckless nature of the kill or be killed, Daniel Pineda.

The calm karate specialist dominated Pineda over 15 minutes on the feet, whilst also staying out of danger of Pineda’s submission attempts.

In his Octagon interview, Caceres made quite the callout. The Miami native described how he wants Yair Rodriguez to unify the featherweight title so they can eventually rematch for undisputed Gold. You don’t need me to tell you though, that won’t be happening, at least not next.

Although it would be quite the step up in competition, I would love to see a fight between Caceres and Giga Chikadze. Having said that, the Georgian was thrust into action with Kattar too soon in his UFC tenure, in my opinion. Despite Chikadze’s activity being unknown, that is a fight i’d like to see on his return.

Caceres’ Next Fight: Giga Chikadze

Jim Miller

Talking of fighters who are still scoring impressive wins. Jim Miller successfully starched Jesse Butler in a late notice replacement fight, putting a cherry on top of the cake that was him breaking the record for all time UFC wins with 25.

23 seconds was all “A-10” Miller needed after blitzing Butler with a huge left hook. In his post fight interview, Miller admitted that along with competing at UFC 300, he wants to secure a kimura win under the UFC banner. The 39-year-old has accumulated 19 submission wins, but is yet to find the elusive kimura.

It is yet to be confirmed when Miller is looking to get back into the Octagon, but due to receiving absolutely no damage, it is likely that it’ll be before UFC 300 which is scheduled to take place near April next year.

Why not give Miller a big fight before he breaks another record? A fight with fans favourite turned heel, Paddy Pimblett, could be utterly bananas. Not only is it a fight the fans would like to see, but it’s something Miller mentioned he’d like in a post fight interview.

Miller’s Next Fight: Paddy Pimblett

Tim Elliot

The ever awkward, Tim Elliot, made it two-in-a-row this past Saturday with a win over the equally as awkward, Victor Altamirano.

With that, he successfully defended his 12th ranked spot in the flyweight division, but will likely have to defend it again in his next outing.

The 36-year-old is at a point in his career in which I doubt he is awarded fights up the rankings to get him back in a position of being a title challenger.

Someone that has been calling him, and tonnes of others out, for what seems to be a while now, is Muhammad Mokaev. The 22-year-old has arguably earned a fight inside the rankings, and someone with the quality of Tim Elliot could make sense to see how ready he is for that.

Elliot’s Next Fight: Muhammad Mokaev

Karine Silva

Someone who’s stock continues to rise as more eyes become familiar with her, is Karine Silva. The Brazilian scored yet another extremely impressive submission victory, making it five-in-a-row.

This time she did it against the dangerous counter striker, Ketlen Souza. Since her win on the Contender Series in 2021, she has scored two first round finishes, likely cementing her spot on a PPV card soon.

The 29-year-old will likely begin taking relatively big step-ups in competition from here on out, and someone who could make sense for her next, is Maryna Moroz.

Silva’s Next Fight: Maryna Moroz

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Another result that was split across not only the judges, but the fans too, was Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs Abubakar Nurmagomedov.

Ultimately the opinions have no bearing though, and the Brazilian was the one registering back-to-back wins. The hard fought victory marked his return to US soil, as the last time he fought in the States was back in 2019.

The Brazilian’s time with the promotion has been a successful one, but one that has saw him constantly fighting a similar level of opponent. That won’t change from here though.

A fight with Jeremiah Wells could be fun for the pair of 36-year-old’s.

Jim Miller had a short night at the office at UFC Vegas 74. He also had a fruitful one.

The Fight Night card saw the promotion back at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas yet again, a development met with groans from a fanbase weary of the empty feel of the private venue. Miller paid no mind, however, dropping short-notice replacement Jesse Butler, who stepped in on just two days’ notice to replace Jared Gordon, with a left hand in all of 23 seconds.

Making your promotional debut on short notice is never easy. Against the record-holder for most fights in UFC history (Miller has now made the walk 42 times), it was an insurmountable task.

Just imagine how thunderous the eruption of the crowd would have been, had the show been held somewhere with actual fans.

The fastest finish of Jim Miller’s career gave him his 25th victory under the UFC banner. It also gave him an extra $50,000 care of a Performance of the Night bonus.

Among several worthy candidates, Tajikistan’s Muhammad Naimov captured the other Performance bonus for his TKO finish of Jamie Mullarkey.

Fight of the Night at UFC Vegas 74 went to the co-main event featherweight firefight between Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres and Daniel Pineda. After seemingly splitting to opening two stanzas, Caceres pulled ahead in the third, delivering devastating body shot after body shot to a zombie-like Pineda who simply would not go away. Pineda did manage to drop Caceres late in the third, but it wasn’t enough, with the long-serving UFC vet capturing a unanimous decision in the end.

All four bonus-winning fighters at UFC Vegas 74 walk out with an extra $50,000 for their efforts.
