Christian Natividad Eyes UFC Opportunity Ahead of LFA 228 Main Event

Rising flyweight Christian Natividad will headline his first event on March 13 when he faces Adrian Garcia in the main event of LFA 228.

For Natividad, the moment represents more than just another fight under the LFA banner. It’s a chance to prove he belongs in the ranks of the highest levels of MMA.

“Oh it’s crazy man. I heard I’m on some billboards too! I haven’t really seen any yet, but wanna go find them and take a picture with it for sure,” Natividad told Cageside Press.

“It’s surreal bro. I’ve never ever headlined a card as an amateur or as a pro. So for my first time headlining to be for the LFA I’m honestly just very fortunate for this opportunity. All eyes are going to be on me this upcoming Friday.”

That opportunity arrives for Natividad in the main event of LFA 228, where he faces Garcia. Stylistically, the matchup appears to favor Natividad, as Garcia is known for being a willing dance partner in the stand-up exchanges.

“I’m so excited man! I’m so pumped for it. I think it’ll be a fun fight. He’s confident, he’s down to bang, but that’s perfect for me. If you wanna bang with me, like if you wanna be in a firefight, let’s shoot down,” he said.

“Crazy thing is, he blocked me on social media. LFA invite me to collab with him and I tried to look at his page and it says ‘user not found’. I’m like yo, why’s this guy blocking me? I don’t know what it is, but it’s going to be a fun night for sure.”

Natividad (8-0) made it clear that he views the moment as more than just a main event opportunity. With a strong showing, the flyweight believes the performance could finally force the UFC to take notice.

“This has to be my ticket into the show. It has to be. I feel like, with a good performance, there’s no way the UFC could deny me,” he said.

“I know the UFC roster, specially at the flyweights, bantamweights, it’s very saturated. Lots of fighters, and I just got to keep showing up and keep doing my thing. If I keep winning these fights they won’t be able to deny me.”

Allan Begosso Knows He’s UFC Ready Following LFA 227

Brazilian bantamweight Allan Begosso came up short against Farid Basharat on the Contender Series in 2022, but after that setback and a loss that followed it, he’s clawed his way back to a potential shot at the big show.

It hasn’t been easy, and Begosso has gone through some hard times. On Saturday at LFA 227, however, he had some big names supporting him, including the likes of Callum Walsh. “I can’t say in words. All these people I have in my corner, and that’s such a big win for me,” Begosso (10-3-1) told Cageside Press following the fight. “Not just because of the fight; I have been through a lot of sh*t in my life. I’m just happy. I’m here, I got a good knockout, and I’m ready for the next one. I will celebrate today, there’s a lot of things to celebrate.”

The win comes on the heels of personal tragedy and loss. “My dad passed away a few months ago, that’s my first fight after that. I want to dedicate to him. I will keep pushing.”

Begosso finished the 12-4 Arnold Jimenez with ground n’ pound in the second round on Friday. “I’m the type of fighter, I want to knock somebody out. That’s what I’m looking for,” he noted. “Sometimes, people push too much, push forward too much, so I have to counter. Sometimes people wait too much, and I have to go. I just want to be smart enough to feel these moments, and when I feel these moments, the chance I’ve got a knockout is big.”

Next stop? Hopefully for Allan Begosso, that’s the UFC, but he’s not trying o put too much pressure on himself. He’s done that before, and learned from it.

“I feel like I don’t need to prove anything else. They know I’m high-level. I’m UFC level. I’ve been training with a lot of champions from my division like Merb [Dvalishvili], Cody Garbrandt, Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes. I have been training with high-level fighters, champions of the world. I know I’m ready for the UFC. I don’t want to kill myself for ‘ah I need to be there,’ you know what I mean? [UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby knows me, he knows my reputation. If he wanted to call me, I’d be more than happy. I know what I can do in the UFC.”

Begosso is willing to leave it in God’s hands, “but I want UFC. I want my shot. Being honest, if they give me a shot on the Contender Series, I would be happy, but I know I’m ready for a straight contract in the UFC.”

LFA 227 Winner Roman Puga Wants on DWCS: “I’m Starving, & I Want to Prove My Worth”

Featherweight Roman Puga picked up a second-round TKO finish of Hamzeh Trad at LFA 227 on Friday, improving to 5-1 in the process.

The 29-year old turned pro in 2018 and appeared for Bellator MMA the following year, then spent some time working on his skills in the boxing realm, taking several fights in that sport before transitioning back to MMA.

He’s since been on quite a run in the California scene, and is 2-0 in LFA with the Contender Series in his sights.

“Absolutely. Dana White’s Contender Series, I’m willing to step up there and test my skill set against more top-notch competitors, more hungry fighters,” Puga told Cageside Press following his win on Friday, “and showcase that out of all the hungry fighters, I’m malnourished, I’m starving, and I want to prove my worth.”

Aside from his boxing, there were some slick scrambles on display in Puga’s fight at LFA 227, something he admitted he wasn’t entirely expecting. “No I wasn’t. We prepared for it, you can see it in there, but more or less I thought he was going to stand up and strike me, showcase his kickboxing and attempt to try to put me out at my own game, which is on the feet.”

The game plan, rather, was to “Just keep putting pressure on him. I see he’s breaking and I know as long as I’m clinical with my shots, I’m going to put him out.”

“I knew he was crumbling, because I was wobbling him with the jab. So he couldn’t take that power,” Puga later added.

Originally scheduled to face Victor Santos, Roman Puga has now won four straight bouts in MMA since making the jump back from boxing.

Following LFA 227 Win, Mari Piccolo Wants Title Fight Next

Mari Piccolo earned her second straight victory inside the LFA cage on Friday night at LFA 227.

She also spoiled the undefeated record of Zoe Nowicki, earning a unanimous decision win and improving her own record to 6-3, with a 5-2 mark under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner.

It was a hard-fought bout, one that saw Piccolo’s takedown defense shine.

“I’m proud of my defense. She’s a really tough fighter, I was expecting that, and she proved that. It was a tough fight,” Piccolo told Cageside Press following the fight. “I’m happy with my performance, with my takedown defense. I know I have a lot to get better, but I’m really happy.”

Piccolo had a significant height and reach advantage in the bout, and was able to use her jab to create space. “I saw I’m taller than her, my reach was bigger so I used a lot of my jab. That was something that I really worked on at the gym, I use my jab to keep my distance.”

“She put me on the fence a lot of times, but that was something that I was really working on, my jabs. And I saw it was working.”

LFA owner Ed Soares praised Piccolo’s performance after the bout. “I’m really happy with that. It’s good when the boss comes to you and says something like that, so I’m really happy.”

Now, Mari Piccolo is looking for a title shot. LFA flyweight champ Cheyanne Bowers recently vacated her title to sign with the Professional Fighters League. Piccolo has her eye on the vacant belt.

“I know that the champion of my division, she went to PFL, so I want a title shot if it’s possible. That’s what I want. Of course I want to go to the big stage, but if I have the opportunity to go to the belt of LFA, I would be really happy.”

LFA Begins New Era With Vice TV Broadcast Partnership

Legacy Fighting Alliance has found a new home.

The rising MMA promotion announced a new broadcast partnership with Legacy Fighting Alliance, bringing its events to Vice TV in a move that signals a major step forward for the league as it continues to establish itself as one of the premier developmental pipelines in mixed martial arts. The deal will see 25 LFA events broadcasting on Vice TV through 2026.

Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news.

LFA began broadcasting its events on UFC Fight Pass in 2019, entering into a deal that ran through 2025. Following the UFC’s decision to move all of its events to Paramount+, LFA opted to pursue a new broadcast partnership and chart a different path forward.

Along with LFA, Vice TV will also broadcast select events from the Professional Fighters League (PFL), as well as Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB) cards. The network has steadily expanded its combat sports footprint in recent years, beginning with the success of its documentary series Dark Side of the Cage featuring fighters such as Ronda Rousey and Nick Diaz.

In addition to live fight programming, Vice TV has also invested in professional wrestling content, further positioning itself as a destination for fans of combat and fight-adjacent sports. The growing lineup reflects a clear commitment to building a diverse and consistent combat sports portfolio across multiple disciplines.

The first event to air live the new broadcast home will be LFA 224, which takes place on January 16 from the Mystic Lake Showroom in Prior Lake.

The card will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight as Matt Adams fight for the LFA heavyweight championship against Arslan Bilalov.

“This Is My Moment”: Luis Francischinelli Chases Welterweight Gold and UFC Call at LFA 223

Luis Francischinelli enters the biggest moment of his career on Friday night, headlining LFA 223 with the welterweight title on the line as he faces submission specialist Jonathan Piersma in a high-stakes clash of rising contenders.

For Francischinelli, it’s more than a championship opportunity, it’s a chance to cement himself as one of LFA’s next breakout stars on a stage built for future UFC talent. And the first thing anyone notices about the Brazilian striker is his sheer physical presence; standing an incredible 6-foot-6 at 170 pounds, it’s no surprise he’s viewed as one of the promotion’s most intriguing prospects.

“I’m just a skinny guy! I know I’m so tall, but I’m just a skinny guy,” Francischinelli told Cageside Press.

“Before, when (I first) started, I start 125. Like 15 years ago of course, but I started 125. I fought in Brazil, professional, 155. Imagine me 6’6 155! It’s crazy right?”

Francischinelli (5-0) is a rare blend of physical tools and mental sharpness. The Sao Paulo native, now training out of California Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness in Gardena, has a way of surprising people with how quickly his calm demeanor shifts the moment the cage door closes.

“Normally I’m this person you see outside the cage. When I’m in the cage, it’s two things for me. First one, it’s my job, it’s serious. I need to be serious right now. I’m not kidding, I’m not joking, I need to come in there and do my job,” he said.

“Second one, it’s my moment. The moment (is) only mine, is nobody else(s). I don’t have a problem, I don’t have bills to pay, I don’t have nothing. It’s just me against me. That’s what I’m thinking in there. When I’m inside the cage it’s my moment.”

Despite his imposing frame, Francischinelli carries himself with a calmness that seems almost out of place in a high-stakes fight week. He says that composure isn’t an act, it’s the product of years spent sharpening himself long before he ever stepped into an MMA cage.

“Before I (used to get) a little bit more nervous, but for MMA, my fights, I’m nice and easy. For me it’s natural. I have a lot of control, why, because I have a lot of experience in kickboxing. That’s my base,” he said.

“I have almost 100 fights in Brazil. That’s why today I’m so calm, I control more, be patient. I’m just looking for the opportunity and when I (see) the opportunity, I land it, and all the fights is over.”

At LFA 223 Francischinelli will fight for the LFA welterweight title against Piersma who comes into the fight fresh off a title win at Combat FC 10 in June.

“All the guys that I face, I never say no for nobody, I always say yes. Specially my first fight. They called me the same day, hey Luis you want to fight? My first MMA fight the guy 3-2, high-level grappling, lot of experience MMA,” he said.

“185 I fought my first one. I said yes, let’s go. I come in there, boom, beat him. For me it doesn’t matter you know. I know he’s a tough guy. Only respect with him and everybody else too.”

Though Francischinelli respects Piersma and every opponent he faces, his ambitions stretch far beyond Friday night. And to reach those goals, Piersma is simply the obstacle standing in his way, an obstacle he intends to remove.

“I only respect the guys because we (have) the same goal. We want to live this, but right now, he’s (in the way). Ok, let’s go. Let’s do this. For me it doesn’t matter who is in front of me. If it’s striking, grappling, wrestling. I don’t care. That’s why I’m here. I’m here for fight. I’m ready for everything,” said Francischinelli.

A win over Piersma would keep Francischinelli unbeaten, earn him a title, and put a microphone in his hands on a major platform, the kind of moment every rising prospect hopes for. While a UFC callout will be on his mind, he’s just as focused on the higher power he believes has guided him toward every milestone in his career.

“I need to say thank you of course for God. He’s the only way, the only truth, the only life I have is because of him. He gave me this opportunity,” he said.

“Second one of course I’ll call Uncle Dana! Hey, give me my chance man! I can have good fights, have good fight for the UFC, I’m a good fighter. People like me, like my style, and when I come, I’m coming to work.”

Kevin Carrier Eyes Statement Win at LFA 223: “He’s the Perfect Dance Partner for Me”

Kevin Carrier returns to the LFA cage this Friday at LFA 223, carrying renewed confidence and a sharpened skill set as he prepares for a pivotal showdown with rising contender Kelton Sneve.

For Carrier (4-1), this matchup isn’t just another booking. It’s a chance to reassert his place among the promotion’s most dangerous lightweights and prove he’s ready for the next level. His last fight, a victory over Dey McIntosh at LFA 211 in June, brought him back to the win column after suffering the first loss of his pro career.

“Being a little older the plan was to be undefeated for as long as I can be. I thought, no disrespect to Kyle (Pufahl), I thought for sure I was going to win that fight. I knew he was tough, I knew he was dangerous, but I didn’t forsee myself losing,” Carrier told Cageside Press.

“It happens. Once that happened, I’ve been there as an amateur quite a few times. Never lost two back-to-back.”

That loss to Pufahl in March didn’t slow Carrier down one bit. Now in his early 30s, he knew he needed to get back in the cage quickly, and the McIntosh matchup presented the perfect opportunity. The fight was close, and for a moment appeared to be slipping away, until Carrier snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

“Keeping the judges out of it was good. It was definitely satisfying because…I felt the pressure. I felt the pressure and I think that was another reason why I felt like such a shell of myself. I was like damn, I’m 3-1 right now, 3-2 won’t look too good. I got a real uphill battle being at the age I am,” he said.

“He came out completely different than I was anticipating. He came out real methodical, real patient, he’s a hella athletic kid. I felt the speed. He was going tit for tat with me.”

McIntosh may have held the momentum entering the third round, but Carrier had done his homework and knew an opening would eventually present itself.

“The other thing I did see in the lead up was like he’ll shoot, and when he does, he kind of leaves his head open for guillotines. Third round, I threw that push kick, I know I got a good guillotine,” he said.

“Hook line and sinker.”

Carrier didn’t hesitate when asked what stands out about Kelton Sneve. He sees a fighter whose record doesn’t tell the full story, someone built for hard rounds and high-pressure moments.

“He’s tough, he’s young, he’s dangerous. He’s a gamer. Even though he’s lost he’s one of those guys that doesn’t really know how to lose,” he said.

“He’s there from bell to bell. In his one loss as a pro was arguably fight of the year against an undefeated guy. That being said, he’s young, and I’m expecting the best version of himself this time.”

Still, for all the danger Sneve brings, Carrier sees just as many opportunities. The matchup, in his eyes, is the kind of stylistic clash that brings out his best work.

“He also has some concrete holes that he has in his style that I think I can exploit. He’s like the perfect dance partner for me. My last few guys have just respected me too much almost, and this kid I know he ain’t going to respect me,” said Carrier.

“He’s going to come forward, he’s going to bring it and so am I. If he’s anticipating what he saw in my last two fights, it’s going to be something completely different.”

Kyle Pufahl Eyes Breakthrough Moment Ahead Of Collins Fight at LFA 223

Kyle Pufahl steps into the spotlight at LFA 223 on Friday night, carrying momentum, maturity, and a growing sense of urgency as he prepares to face fellow prospect Steve Collins in a matchup that could shape the next chapter of his rise.

Pufahl (6-2) is a natural finisher, with four of his six wins coming by knockout. In his most recent outing, he went the distance in a hard-fought decision over Kevin Carrier, proving that the 26-year-old doesn’t chase finishes, he capitalizes on them when the moment is there.

“I think it’s all about reading situations and stuff. Instead of just going right in the fire, which isn’t probably the best thing unless you’re down in rounds and stuff, but early on you got to be calculated,” Pufahl told Cageside Press.

“If you’re landing shots, see what his reactions are, what it could set something up. That’s how I really stay patient. Reading body language, and how he reacts to whatever I’m doing.”

Pufahl isn’t the type of fighter who backs out easily, even when his body gives him every reason to. He made it clear that once he’s committed, he’ll do everything in his power to make sure the fight happens. He suffered a rib injury right before the fight with Carrier, but refused to withdraw from the fight.

“I don’t think there was any thought that I wasn’t going to fight. Prior to that night fighting Kevin, we were booked originally in Niagara, and that got canceled. When that situation happened, my rib popped out, I was like, “No f*cking way I’m pulling out,” he said.

“That’d suck for me, that’d suck for Kevin because he put in all that work for two camps too.”

At LFA 223 he takes on the undefeated Steve Collins who is 3-0 in LFA with two TKO finishes to his name in that span. Pufahl has spent time studying Collins, and the first thing that stood out was the pace he brings. He sees Collins as the kind of fighter who refuses to slow down, no matter the moment.

“He’s got a good tank man. He just keeps throwing and throwing. Good pressure, he brings a competitive aggression to it too when he’s fighting and stuff. That’s what I see the most. There’s other stuff too. He’s a good skillful fighter,” he said.

“Good competitive spirit that comes forward and pushes.”

“You never want wars. I mean, maybe you do, but you want to just save your brain as much as you can until you get into a war in the higher rankings or in the UFC. A quick finish would be cool, that’d be great, get the fan base up a little bit,” said Pufahl.

For Pufahl, the long game is just as important as the fight in front of him. Every training session and every win is part of a bigger picture he’s constantly replaying in his mind. The goal of getting to the UFC is never far from thought.

“I think about it all the time. I always have it on my mind thinking about it,” he said.

“Visualizing the process to getting to the fight or in the fight itself. Like the finish, the steps you need afterwards, winning the next couple fights to wherever you need to get into the UFC.”

Nejra Repp Brings Bosnian Resilience to LFA 222 Showdown with Aline Pereira

Bosnian striker Nejra Repp is stepping into the spotlight at LFA 222 this Friday night, set to face former GLORY kickboxing standout Aline Pereira in a clash that could define the next wave of women’s striking talent.

For Repp, who’s built her reputation on crisp technique and relentless pressure, this isn’t just another fight, it’s a statement opportunity against one of the most recognizable names to cross over from the world of elite kickboxing.

Repp’s (4-2) story doesn’t start in a gym, a ring, or a cage. It begins in the 1990s during the Bosnian War, where she and her brother grew up simply trying to survive. The resilience forged through that hardship has shaped her into the fighter she is today.

“It was tough times. If there’s anything that I learned from that experience, the survival story of everything that I’ve went through, is the grit and the resilience,” Repp told Cageside Press.

“That’s in my family and myself. Like I always say the fight itself, in the cage, is nothing compared to what my family and myself have been through.”

Reflecting on her childhood in war-torn Bosnia, Repp says the perspective she gained back then still drives her today. The struggles of her past, she explains, make the challenges of fight week feel small by comparison.

“It molds you into the person you are today. For me it’s like I can stress about the fight, what’s worse? The fight itself or not being able to eat for days? This weight cut to me it’s easy. I can eat the next day! There’s food on the table,” she said.

“It’s not like not knowing if we’re going to have food the next day or if we’re going to get attacked by a sniper or something like that.”

The grit, fire, and resilience that define Repp are evident every time she steps into the cage. At LFA 215, she faced early adversity against Lidia Helena, getting dropped by a left hook in the opening round but surviving to fight on. In the second, Repp turned the tables landing a thunderous right hand that dropped Helena cold. With a nod to her corner, she walked away victorious.

“I grew up with an older brother so you know what, I had to survive! Yeah I got dropped. It was almost like a flash. I was up in a matter of not even a second, but I wasn’t going to go down like that and that’s the resilience that we talk about,” she said.

“That kind of translates over into the fight. You’re going to have to really put in some work to get me out of there, and I don’t care who you are. The second round came and my coach was like, ‘You got to go.’ I was like, ‘yes sir’, we went for it.”

That viral moment quickly became a signature highlight in Repp’s career. A mix of raw emotion and swagger that fans still talk about. She laughs now when recalling how unplanned it really was.

“The head nod at the end, everyone always brings it up,” she said with a smile.

“I didn’t even try to do that! It just came out naturally! I was talking to my husband and he was like, ‘You do that a lot!’ It’s just natural. Everyone’s just like, ‘oh that’s a mean walk off!’ I wasn’t even trying to be mean! It just came out.”

Now, Repp steps into one of the biggest moments of her career. A co-main event clash with Aline Pereira, the sister of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, at LFA 222. The matchup has drawn plenty of attention given Pereira’s famous last name and kickboxing pedigree, but Repp isn’t interested in the hype. She sees this fight as a test of skill, not celebrity.

“I wouldn’t say it’s just another opponent. Just because I feel like I’ve got to give credit where it’s due. I do think she’s going to be an elite striker, I’ve seen some of her matches, but as far as the weight, I don’t look at that,” she said.

“At the end of the day she’s human, I’m human. It’s nice that she has that name behind her, but I’m not going into the fight fighting him. At the end of the day it’s her skill set against my skill set. I wouldn’t say it intimidates me or makes me feel any certain way. I know who I am and what I bring to the table. It does make me excited though.”

As fight night approaches, Repp’s confidence is unmistakable. She promises fans a showcase of her striking and the kind of intensity that defines her style.

“Expect fireworks! Expect a really fast-paced fight, and a lot of bombs being thrown,” Repp said.

LFA 222’s Nathan Ghareeb: Happy to Be Home

If you’re looking at a bio page for Nathan Ghareeb, it might be a little hard to locate where home is exactly. You’ll see that he’s born in Hot Springs, Arkansas; he attended West Virginia University; trained in Coconut Creek, Florida; and has fought all over the United States.

Despite all of those places playing a big part of his life, it’s small-town Western Massachusetts that “Nasty Nate” considers his home. After being away for a while training, he’s back and is better than ever.

“I moved back from Florida – I had moved back in December and I went out there for like a camp. Then I came back here and decided to like stick up this way,” Ghareeb explained. “Before I went down to Florida, I was training with my striking coach [Dan McIntyre] who ended up going to Florida as well, but Northern Florida and I went to South Florida and he moved back… I feel sharp again working with my striking coach. To this day, I still believe he’s one of the best striking coach that nobody knows.”

And it’s that relationship with his striking coach that really influenced his decision to stay in the area. While the name American Top Team holds plenty of weight, the instruction he gets at Springfield Submission Society, he believes, is unmatched.

“He’s pretty low key, but he’s like one of the smartest guys. He just like understands fighting on a level that I’ve just not come across in anywhere. And I’ve been all over the place,” he said. “I’ve traveled and trained all over the country, all over the world and I’ve trained with some of the best. I just think that he’s one of those guys that he understands me. We have that training and he just knows where I need to continue to progress.”

However, it’s not just the high-end training that he gets up North that has kept Ghareeb in the area. Having family close by and a community of people to support him has put him in a much better place to achieve his dreams.

“I think like having a tribe is so important and like having a community of people around you does make a huge difference. So being up here is good,” Ghareeb said. “People that heard about this one, they hear about LFA, they’re like, oh, like we gotta go to this fight. It’s at Foxwoods and I think a lot of people, after my last fight, were really excited.”

Ghareeb will get to show off that improved striking as he takes on Josh Harvey as part of the LFA 222 main card this Friday. That fight card takes place at 9pm EST and is available on UFC Fight Pass.
