Mir is the daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, and is someone Dana White himself as been singing the praises of lately, even suggesting she could compete for Zuffa Boxing and UFC BJJ as well (she has already turned up under the UFC BJJ banner, in fact). With the women’s bantamweight division badly in need of stars, Mir arrives at the perfect moment, assuming she can capitalize on her Contender Series opportunity.

Booked opposite Alex Apodaca, Mir opens at the biggest favorite among female fighters in Contender Series history, so if all goes according to plan, she’ll be UFC-bound shortly.

“Missed” is putting it mildly. Vieira was wide by a country mile, or just north of seven pounds in any case. Yet Cyborg, not wanting a chance at defending her PFL title snatched from her grasp, accepted the bout as a title fight, albeit one-sided, despite the chasm in weight. Vieira wouldn’t be eligible to win the belt, but at PFL Tampa on Friday, Cyborg was absolutely able to lose it.

Early, it was Vieira pressing the attack, while Cyborg countered. Midway into the round, the champ looked to pursue a takedown, and struggled with the size of Vieira, who seemingly would not budge. The champ went back to working from the outside, moving laterally, while Vieira walked her down. Cyborg mixed in kicks, with Vieira firing a few of her own, not quite as fluidly.

Vieira continued to press in round two, looking noticably thick and standing toe-to-toe with the fearsome, legendary Cyborg. The best strike of the round might have been a Cyborg leg kick, but Vieira connected with a right hand just after that resulting in a quick, violent exchange between the pair before they clinched up.

Round three finally saw the pair go to the ground, Cyborg on top, looking to land heavy punches. She would back off then re-engage, sneaking in a few more right hands before getting back in guard. Cyborg appeared to be cruising through the round, but when they came up along the fence, Cyborg landed a low knee, leading to a break in the action.

When they got back underway, Cyborg appeared to have tired, and was tagged by a left hand in the final minute, during an exchange. There wasn’t a ton behind it, however, and they fought on. Vieira found herself getting hit with a left and right to the body.

Round four of the PFL Tampa main event saw Cyborg chopping at Vieira’s lead leg, then firing a kick to the midsection that fell short. She jabbed to the body as well, ducked under a punch but couldn’t land the takedown that followed. A kick to the side did land for Cyborg, though it might have been thrown with the intent of hitting the head. Later in the round, they’d go to the ground with Vieira settling in on top, landing some serious damage on the champ.

Round five started with an interesting question: was the fight tied? Or could Vieira even be up? Cyborg landed an early takedown, after her corner suggested the fight was tied 2-2 after four rounds. Vieira didn’t stay down long, and was right back to her feet. Not long after it was Vieira’s turn to get the fight down, and she stayed heavy on the champ. Not doing any damage, but not letting her move. Cyborg would get up before the horn, all of a minute to go, and smashed Vieira with a right hand! She would fire knees in a clinch, with the final move of the fight an overhand right from the champ.

At age 41, that right hand may be the final punch of Cris Cyborg’s decorated MMA career, though she has signaled she intends to continue to compete as a boxer. Asked what’s next, Cris Cyborg replied “I’m ready for anybody. I’m a free agent, I’m excited. Eight years undefeated. I’m ready for anybody. Any time, any weight.” Though first up, she’s becoming a grandmother, with her daughter having a son any day now. She also still called for a fight with Claressa Shields, then singled out UFC champ Kayla Harrison, who was cageside.

So, perhaps not done in MMA after all then.

Jean Silva (17-3) remains in the headliner, but the Brazilian featherweight will now face off against the rising Jose Miguel Delgado (12-2) of Mexico. The event takes place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ on September 12, 2026.

Promotion officials announced the booking on Saturday. News of the switch-up was previously reported by MMA Fighting.

Silva has just a single loss in the UFC, against two-time title challenger Diego Lopes. “Lord” Silva bounced back from that setback, which came at Noche UFC in 2025, by earning a unanimous decision over England’s Arnold Allen this past January.

Delgado likewise has just one loss inside the octagon, and has earned back-to-back decision victories over Austin Bashi and Andre Fili. With the addition of Jose Miguel Delgado to the main event, this year’s Noche UFC card, celebrating Mexican Independence, breaks down as follows:

During Saturday’s UFC Sacramento Fight Night broadcast on Paramount+, promotion officials revealed that, as expected, the octagon will touch down in New York City in November. A trip to Madison Square Garden has become an annual tradition over the past several years.

In addition, the final numbered card of the year will take place in Las Vegas in December.

No fights were announced for either card. UFC 334 takes place on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY while UFC 335 does down on Dec. 12 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

New York cards have traditionally become some of the biggest in the promotion’s history since MMA was legalized in the state. That includes Conor McGregor dethroning Eddie Alvarez to become the UFC’s first simultaneous double-champ at UFC 205 in 2016, and Georges St-Pierre returning from an extended absence to dethrone Michael Bisping for middleweight gold the following year.

The promotion has launched a page on their official website where fans can register to receive information about early access to tickets.

Las Vegas and the T-Mobile Arena have become a frequent year-end destination for the company as well.

Brazil’s Chaves was a perfect 7-0 as a pro to start the night, winning her promotional debut last time out.

To open the fight Chaves worked kicks, and both women were active early, Judice moving forward, and Chaves countering. Lots of back-and-forth action through the first minute and a half, with both fighters landing repeatedly. While Chaves appeared to have a slight edge in terms of power, Judice was clearly a half step faster than her opponent.

It was a body shot (a kick) for Judice, however, that instantly changed the complexion of the fight. In a heartbeat, no less. The second that kick to the midsection landed, Chaves just crumpled. The ref was already heading into make the save as she covered up, and Carli Judice had her fourth straight victory, while spoiling the perfect record of Jeisla Chaves.

Judice, who won a UFC contract off a loss on the Contender Series in 2023, may now find herself cracking the top 15 at 125lbs.

Both men were looking to get back in the win column, with Nzechukwu coming off a draw opposite Marcus Buchecha. Gaziev, for his part, had lost two straight, against Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Brando Peričić. Not a good spot for the Russian to find himself.

Kennedy Nzechukwu looked to come out fast, and might have touched Gaziev once or twice early, but the Nigerian had his hands low. That cost him, as a lunging right hand was all Gaziev needed to put Nzechukwu away in Sacramento. The finish came less than 90 seconds into the bout. With Nzechukwu circling along the fence, Gaziev moved in and clipped him with a perfectly placed punch, one that sent Kennedy crashing to the mat. The ref did an excellent job of immediately getting between the pair, saving Nzechukwu from taking any unnecessary damage.

That’s ten knockouts for Shamil Gaziev, who gets back into the winner’s circle for the first time since February of 2025. Following the bout, Gaziev, who competed for the second time in 2026 at UFC Sacramento, stated that he wanted to return later in the year after some time off.

Haqparast was a 15-fight veteran of the promotion, while Padilla had posted a 4-0-1 record through five fights inside the octagon.

The pair started the bout with an extended feeling out process, circling, testing range, firing kicks and the odd strike up top. A low-action affair especially when viewed next to some of the night’s earlier contests, none of which had suffered for lack of intensity or violence. The low output also made it a difficult round to score.

The second frame continued to be something of a slog. Padilla mixed in leg kicks, and Haqparast went to the body. Still, even when Padilla spammed a couple of kicks in quick succession, it wasn’t even to appease the Sacramento crowd. Padilla briefly put Haqparast on the fence, but Nasrat escaped within seconds. More boo-birds could be heard as another low-action round came to a close.

With the fight still very much up for grabs in round three, Haqparast briefly turned up the tempo, only for Padilla to turn things back around. Late in the round, the fight finally opened up however, with Padilla dropping Nasrat! Padilla got on top, dropping hammer fists, 12-6 elbows, and other ground n’ pound. Haqparast managed to survive and scramble to his feet, but there he wound up eating another elbow.

With time ticking away, Haqparast was in trouble. After lighting him up a bit, Padilla locked up a standing arm-triangle choke. With the choke in place Padilla threw Haqparast to the ground, holding on to the submission. As the horn sounded, it was clear Haqparast had gone out! A dull fight, but an absolutely wild finish.

Cyborg had billed this as a potential farewell, though she hadn’t full committed and even appeared to walk retirement talk back a bit ahead of the card. Still, there was a very real possibility that the fight would be her last in the PFL, and the card was built around her.

Then, Vieira was heavy by just over seven pounds. The title was no longer eligible to be won by the challenger, though Cyborg later confirmed that she could lose it, so it would count as a title defense.

Still, yet another bit of bad luck for the PFL, soon to be rebranded and become part of Jake Paul’s MVP.

Vieira, a former UFC bantamweight title challenger, had been set to face champion Cris Cyborg for the PFL women’s featherweight championship. However, with Vieira hitting the scales seven pounds over the title fight limit, the league had little choice in the matter. The main event now continues as a catchweight of sorts: for Cyborg, the title is still on the line, meaning she can still lose it.

While Vieira has fought mainly as a bantamweight, she also blew weight for a 2025 144lb catchweight fight with Macy Chiasson, as well as for a bantamweight bout with Yana Santos in 2021. Neither of those misses, however, was nearly as bad as what transpired on Saturday.

Vieira later released a statement on the matter to MMA Fighting, saying that “I had severe pain in my kidneys and stomach since last night. I felt really sick throughout the entire night. Master ‘Dedé’ [André Pederneiras] slept in my bed with me, massaging my back so I could get some sleep.”

“This morning, I felt sick again and had another severe episode. I can’t explain why this happened. I was doing well on weight, I’m a bantamweight fighter, and it had nothing to do with my weight. I was in a lot of pain, and ‘Dedé’ wouldn’t let me continue losing weight. I was doing well and sweating properly, but then I had this very severe episode, and [Pederneiras] chose to prioritize my health.”

Vieira is making her promotional debut in the bout.
